The point is what can a manager actually do once they have kicked off? He can't run on the pitch and score a goal himself can he? The players he picks are on the pitch to carry out what he has asked of them. As the stats proove the players have created 31 chances in two games. I haven't looked at other teams numbers i imagine very few teams will have that number against a premiership team. If those players scored just 1% of their chances this thread would not exist. What more can a manager do but to create chances? How can he make the players take them? He can't. Your talking like we have lost five games on the bounce and are playing rubbish. That is not true at all. People are totally making stuff up to go along with their agendas. Two games in and people are already looking to grind their axe. I would not care if what they say was true but it isn't, like in the other thread Hypo says we played 4-4-2 in the 2nd half. We actually played 3-5-2 for a vast amount of it but i couldn't be arsed to correct him. So i stand by what i said. If anyone thinks it is a managers fault players don't take their chances then they are mongs.

I tell you what is interesting, looking at the stats of our last two games. Against Bolton we had 14 chances compared to their 4. 8 corners compared to their two. Against Orient we had 17 shots compared to their 5. 6 corners to their 5. What does that tell us? It tells us in the last two games we had 31 shots.....compared to 9 against us. Had 14 corners to their 7. As i said before if anyone thinks it is the managers fault that we only scored one of our 31 shots in the past 2 games then they are a mong, simple as that.

Did people really expect us to beat a premiership team then? I was there last night and we were unlucky. If barnard had taken one of his chances on saturday and connolly took his last night you would not be posting that. The manager can't be blamed for players not taking their chances. What ****es me off on here is people who don't go to the games are our most critical. There is no way to satisfy them because they don't see how it is. Sure we have not had the greatest starts but were only a few games in ffs. You don't see Liverpool fans or dare i say it Portsmouth fans complaining about there starts, they get behind their clubs regardless, some of you need to learn to do that rather then *****ing and over reacting all the time.

He played for Perugia in Serie A 17 times, even played in Uefa Cup 4 times. That is a lot higher level then most of our squad have played at i would say.

Interesting as he says "Although there was interest in me from other Serie A clubs". Which to me suggests i guess maybe some other clubs might have been interested in him? Then on the news piece it say's "with other clubs interested in signing the 28 year old most notably Chievo and Roma". But i guess you know better then the player and club right?

My family are Italian (hence the name) and still live in Turin. I watch Serie A as much as i can when it is on tv. And i know feck all about this guy because Serie B doesn't have much coverage. However i do know that last season he scored 9 goals. 1 Against Modena, 2 against Grosstto, 1 against Reggina, 1 against Piecenza, 2 against Lecce, 1 against Triestina, 1 against Gallipoli. 4 of those were penalties meaning a chunk of his goals were penalties. But that does not mean he is crap, look at Lampard, how many goals of his are from penalties? He has played in the Uefa cup 4 times and played 17 Serie A games. How many people in our squad or in any of the league one squads have played at the top level and in europe who are still in their twenties? I doubt many. Last year he played 34 games of which 32 were starts. Not bad considering there are only 42 games. I think your friends might have got him mixed up with someone else.

Based on the videos of him he looks central right attacking midfield. Always just outside the box by the looks of it.

Only people on this board would moan about us signing a brazillian who decided instead of signing for Roma wanted to come here.....We could sign Ronaldo,Messi etc and some would still ***** about something. I don't know much about this guy but from his videos he seems big and powerful,fast and has a ferocious right foot that could do some serious damage. We needed an attacking midfielder and he looks like someone who fits the bill. So well done Pardew and Cortese for bringing him in! All we need now in my view is a winger i.e Antonio and a central defender for when Jaidi get's locked up for one of his tackles and were be alright!

So let me see if i got this right.... Your complaining about the lack of advertising boards around the ground? Not sure if it is just me but i don't even notice stuff like that..... Who knows maybe being owned by a multi-billionaire family meant they felt they didn't need to advertise? At the end of the day having loads of them does not increase my enjoyment of football, in fact if anything it ruins it. So the fewer the better. Good job Cortese.

Just on way home now. How we didn't win that i will never know. We basically dominated from start to finish and had chance after chance, hit the post a couple of times. On another day that would of been a 5-0 beating. People thinking the result is somehow Pardews fault must be having a laugh. Nearly all the players missed golden chances including Barnard and Lambert. How you can blame a manager for the players not taking their chances is beyond me. Just looking at the bbc stats page and said we had 17 chances compared to their 5. Says it all. We should be beating teams like this yes. But we didn't play bad and we deserved to win. Personally i think we are missing these chances due to lack of games and putting pressure on ourselves. That said we still need some pace and some more creativity in the team. We took of a midfielder and went more attacking which was all good and all but we just couldn't get a proper pass/cross into the box. A proper attacking midfielder is desperatly needed. Morgan is a good player but we lack a guy to take his place when he is playing bad. If Morgan is playing bad then as a team i think thinks get harder. We also need a fast winger i.e Antonio. If we don't get those players in then these results will become more frequent. The question is will Pardew be allowed to bring them in?

The Fifa pc version has finally had its new engine upgraded if i remember right. So in theory should now look good. Guess we will find out soon!

Great statement and answers pretty much what we wanted to know. The club will remain in the family and there were plans put in place. While some of our resident mongs are quick to attack nc at every turn i think the vast majority appreciate what he has done. The fact he won't give up is a good trait. But a better one is he had the intelligence to think ahead and cover the bases when unexpected things might happen. And they always do happen. So many people from our past would of used this as an excuse for failure. Nc has not done that, he has made it clear he will see it through to the end and it will only happen if we support him and the team. Judge nc on success of the football club. 1 trophy is a good indicator we are in the right hands.

Classic goal. A friend got to play it over in Germany at Gamescom and he said it is miles better then last years in terms of actual gameplay. The physics side to the game has been totally changed with a lot of things built from scratch. Like now if your a big dude you will be able to shoulder barge a smaller guy and get the ball a lot easier. The weight of passing is a lot different too. It is a lot harder to pull of 40+ yard passes, which is down to the new personality engine/system put into the game. Another cool thing is there is like a tutorial mode called "Be a Keeper", which has three levels to it. As you progress the computer removes some of the assists you have with it. Until eventually your on your own. There should be lot's of previews up soon. Let's hope Asda,Tesco and Sainsbury do what they did last year and have a shopping war and sell it at £25 on the 1st day again

If it is true that Cortese was trying to stop Markus being photod while being ill then that is quite sad really. He would of taken all that grief from the media and people on here unfairly. Which would show the type of guy he really is. Guess time will tell if it's true or not.

Gamescom EA conference just happened and they announced you can indeed now have a career as a goal keeper. They also showed some amazing footage showing the new features in it as well as 100% in game footage, no CGI ********. It looked epic. Soon as the video is put up on net i will link it. Never understood why they did that anyway. Also i noticed on the screen when he was picking a player to start his career with he chose Peter Czech. I wonder if that means we can now control the keeper. That would be awesome. Loving the interface and thing it was the right thing to kill manager mode, it just had too much wrong with it. Another nice touch is you can now see the results and positions from all the leagues.
