He scored 8 goals from 12 starts last season. Acording to http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/Shooting/0,,10794~200810400~7,00.html He had in the league 27 shots on target and 19 shots off target. So total of 46 shots. Of his shots 56% were on target. And 17% of those were goals. Another interesting thing is that he assited 4 goals. Now compare to say DMG who had 45 starts and 12 goals. Having 64 shots on target and 54 off target. Meaning of his 118 shots 54% were on target. However that means only 10% of his shots resulted in a goal. If you take away his penalties would make it look a lot worse. So off starts last season Rasiak has a 66% chance to score upon a start. While DMG has a 26% chance to score upon a start. Its those stats that show the actual gap in level of quality really. Next season we will need more then the 12 goals DMG scored this year if we are to go for promotion. Someone like Rasiak would bag a bundle in league 1. But as i said he wont be here next season, and if he is not signed by a club will be out on loan. I cannot see him wanting to play in division 3 sadly.

Only nickh could make having a 20+ a season goal scorer in your side look bad while having a nipper barely scrapping 10 from 46 games look good Seriously though he wont be staying. He is a proven striker with an almost 1 goal every 2 games ratio. He scored 8 goals from 12 starts last season at Watford, if he did not get injured he probably would of got more. Someone will come in for him its just a question of how much. If however our new owners have cash to spend and can get his wages down, maybe performance bonus' rather then a massive weekly wage then he could be vital for our push back to ccc. Leicester had big holding type strikers like Howard etc. We have nobody in that mould here. So Rasiak could fit in well. One thing is for sure it matters not how talented the players are, what matters is they will try in every game for the cause, have pride in wearing the shirt. In my view the fans have been somewhat out of order with Rasiak. We signed him at a time when we were meant to be going back to the prem league. It is not his fault he is on his contract. If someone came to you and said right we want you to work the same hours but for half the pay i doubt you would happily accept that. He is a good footballer with a good record but our club is probably now not in a position to attract players of his caliber.

Sorry mate but i don't buy it. Wotte had a far easier time of it then say Jan did. Hell Wotte got a champions league striker and various other players that Jan did not have, Wotte had the luxuary of playing whoever he wanted to. The harsh reality is he is a manager, his job is to get the team playing. That involves being able to motivate them and get them playing above themselves. When he took over only 1 player in my book improved and that was DMG, everyone else continued playing **** or got worse. Team performances wise in my view we got worse. I think i saw all but one of the games with him in charge and most of the time i left thinking we were **** or we were very lucky. Size being a fine example of that. He was employed with almost half a season in charge, having been here all season to get the team out of the mess we were in. He started that job 3 points away from safety, he left it 7 points from safety. So while Jan and the players deserve a lot of the blame Wotte is to blame for more simply because as i said he had a free reign of the players and was able to bring in people on loan, all of which contribute to the wage bill. After a loss players were out and about on the town remember? Would previous managers have allowed that? Remember what Pearson said after the BWP and Dyer scandal? So to place all the blame at Wotte's feet would be silly and untrue. But he is responsible for a large amount of it. He started his tenure by praising the board, specifically Lowe, telling us how great he was and how those who didn't want him there were "kids" and "Not real fans". How ironic that 6 months later that very man took the club into administartion and to its darkest period in its entire excistence hey? Maybe people had a case to be angry about all that? So many things as you say are at fault for our plight, but he failed and should of walked the last day of the season. Ironically didn't Jan say he was a **** or something? At least Jan has played in a world cup final, Wotte has done nothing.

Remember some people saying the same thing this time last year! In all seriousness it is really difficult at this point to say where we should be aiming. The squad if it is kept together should be aiming at the top 6 even with the points deduction. However if we lose some players and replace them with the likes of Smith etc then we will be in another relegation battle for sure. Next season will be very difficult but if we did what we did this season then we will make it even harder for ourselves. We need a return to reality, no gimmicks, no manager that has not been a manager at least at this level and so on. If someone offered us 6th place now i would bit their hand off for it.
-
This is probably the best news we have heard for awhile. Not because the guy was out of his depth, not because the guy got us relegated etc etc but because it means the club can now be 100% pulling in the same direction. If things go wrong in division 3 people would say the ghost of Lowe's errors past lives on in Wotte being manager etc. But now the club can fully start a fresh. It was obvious he would not have been kept on, his record speaks for itself, a record that is very poor. So goodluck Mark, hope it works out for you there. But you must take part of the blame for us being where we are and thats why im sure most people will be glad you have gone.

what happens if Pinacle/MLT retain Wotte as manager
St Marco replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
If the deal goes through which fingers crossed it will then Wotte will probably be fired. The guy doesn't deserve the job nor a job of this level. I have no doubt that MLT saw what all of us saw last season under Wottes team, specifically the performances at games vs Sheff Weds etc.. However if by some miracle he manages to keep his job then he is the one who needs to prove himself not the fans. We all supported the team and supported both Jan and Wotte last season. But at the end of it all he failed, and failed miserably, at no point did he looklike changing our fortunes. So for me it would all depend on what happen's on the pitch, the players and Wotte need to earn our support, something neither have done for a longtime. -
What gets me is everytime this guy talks he talks like he knows best etc like his opinion holds a lot of value.....Hang on but er who are you and Wotte have you done exactly? He played football for a whopping 6 years making an amazing 4 apperances for Feyenoord, then 69 for the mighty SVV, 2 years before they went out of business....Awesome football career there then. Hell Gasmi has a better career then he did! As a manager started at Ado Den Haag, 1st season gets team relegated. Next season in division 2 finishes 8th, gets fired. Gets appointed manager at FC Lisse who are an amateur team in the amateur Hoofdklasse league, the lowest league in dutch football (equivelent to our non league football league, however teams dont get promoted to the main leagues in holland you need a license). 1st season finishes 2nd and in 2nd season also finishes 2nd. Gets re-appointed manager of Ado Den Haag. In 1st season finishes 8th once more in the 2nd division. In his 2nd season finishes 10th in the second division. Gets fired for 2nd time. Then gets offered job at FC Utrecht and finishes 12th. Lower then the team finished in previous season. Gets fired. Then gets given job at FC Den Bosch. Finishes last, gets team relegated. Gets fired. Next job comes at Willem II. In 1st season finishes 11th. Same position as the team finished the year before his arrival. In his 2nd season makes a bit of improvement and finishes 7th. gets fired. Next takes on the job at Ismaily in Egypt finishing 3rd. Leaves job after only a few months. Gets job at RKC Waalwijk. 1st season in charge finishes 2nd to bottom, gets relegated. gets fired. Next takes on job at Al-Ahli in Quatar. Interestingly there are no stats available for this reign. What is known is that he didn't last a year. Then joins Southampton FC as a coach. Moves up to manager half way through season. Finishes season 2nd to bottom, relegated. But not fired. So by my count that makes his highest ever finish 7th but that was once. He managed to not get any teams promoted and was relegated 4 times. Considering he managed 10 teams (7 professional) getting relegated 4 times is pretty bad, that is like a 40% relegation ratio. He has not remained in a job for longer then 2 years having been fired at that point in every job that has lasted that long. So as i said i do find it funny him talking like his opinion holds value. For someone who just got his 4th club in 10 jobs relegated of course he would call for stability, of course he would call for continuity etc etc. Because he knows if it was anyone else he would of been out on his ass at the final kick of the season. A really awful manager who hopefully will not be at this club in a few weeks.

It would be interesting to find out how much he has put into the club to keep us going since we went into admin. A true Saints fan.

Was CGI mate, the clip lasts for 2mins. The 1st min is the opening intro to the game which is all CGI done. Then at 1.09 the car turns into the rally car speeding off down the dusty lane. What gives this away as CGI is the camera quality. Look at the two rally cars at the close up, notice how grainy it looks in comparison to the following shot of the Nascars? It is like the Nascars have become really colourful and bright all of a sudden. The two scenes do not go together. If it was gameplay they would look the same due to sharing the same graphics engine. Then at 1.21 when the Nascars are going round the bend with the frontal shot. Notice how the wheels on the cars have been blacked out so you cant see them turning around? Then from that clip we go into again another rally clip. Notice how that scene looks more brighter then the previous rally scene? Then at 1.44 we see the two GT cars hammering it down the straight again in differnt colours in the background and with neon lights in the middle of the road? Again that scene looks different to all the others. However that scene looks like the only actual gameplay footage due to the fact it lookslike the prologue graphics. Various ways to tell if it is gameplay or not and a clear way to show it isn't is by having various scenes that don't look the same in terms of graphic quality. If you jump from really high quality to low quality is sure fire sign of computer generated wizardary. Also the fact the media said it was CGI gives it away

Can't wait for Uncharted 2. Should be a good improvement on the orgional. Of all the games shown over the week i think my three favs were Splintercell,Alan Wake (which should be like the old Resident Evil games) and Uncharted 2.

£1m for DMG - Why do people think it's such a bad deal?
St Marco replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
I'd take that million and try and get Blackstock back. He hardly played last year even being farmed out to Forest but still scored more goals then DMG. -
Don't get me wrong i will still give it a go. Gran Turismo could re-create the glory days it had on the PS1& the early part of PS2 era. But for that to happen a lot needs to change with the game. As i tried to say Gran Tursimo Prologue is GT5. They have not gone back to the start and re-designed things from scratch. The cars will look the same, the tracks will looks the same, but more importantly the physics will be the same. They are bound to the engine it is built in. For me that is the main thing that needs to change, the physics feel all wrong. Like you are driving on rails. For example we all use the old crash into the guy in front technique to get around the corners. You do that once in a Forza game and your car will be totalled. In Forza you know the thing you dont want to do is to either hit another car or hit a curb/wall/grass and so on. You do those and your lose it just like you would in real life. There is a reason why the Gran Turismo series wont fix those things. And that is because of politics. They have a duty to the manafacturers to make their cars in the game look good. The reason there has been no damage is because it is a bad advert for a car to see it crumpled up against a wall, to see it slide when trying to turn and so on. Sony is not in a position to negotiate all these things so they will not change. With Forza the same rules apply however they seem to be able to get around them and that is simply down to their relationship with the manafacturers. Forza is a series basically created by the manafacturers. They have the ultimate imput and do all the testing and things. Where as the GT process is very much closed doors. So im not slagging it off just i think they needed to start again, scratch Prologue off and build an all new physics engine based on reality rather then politics. They need to evolve with the times and they simply dont want to do that. Their review scores over the past 9 years or so echo that. GT5 could be a good game, but it wont be the best game it could be, if you took away the restraints and let the guys do wahtever they wanted they could make the greatest game of all time.
-
Im comparing Prologue to Forza 2. GT5:Prologue is not as good as Forza 2. Metascore wise Prologue got 80% while Forza 2 got 90%. Now scores don't mean anything other then critical acclaim but the point here is that GT5 is run on the same engine as Prologue. Prologue is technically a demo of the full game. Nothing major will be different except polishing of the game. Forza 3 is a game that has been built on a whole new engine with the help of all the manafacturers and specifcly over 300 individual car designers/makers. So my point is that if Forza 2's engine/gameplay etc was better then GT5:Prologues then that means GT5 will have to be a lot better then its demo. Forza is like what the Gran Turismo series should of been like after V:Spec. As you mention Gran Turismo now has damage. It is things like that which hold back the series. Look at the crash scene in that Forza trailer or in games like say Burnout. Gran Turismo prided itself on being the racing simulator but in comparison now to other games it is not as good in terms of realism. I would consider myself a huge Gran Turismo fan, i probably put more hours into Gt1,2 and V:spec then any other games. But after V:Spec all the GT games have been somewhat dissapointing to me. GT5 deffinatly has the potential to be a good game but it as i mentioned it would need to beat the Forza series to become great, something it has never done scores wise and on the basis of its demo Prologue i just don't think it is anywhere near that level.
-
The problem is though that is CGI not gameplay footage. I am a massive racing fan but after Pro-logue im not as confident that GT5 will be as good as say V:Spec. For me that was the last good Gran Turismo game and that was almost 10 years ago. Its been awhile since Polyphony reached the greatness levels we once knew. As thesaint says above Forza 2 is a very hard game to top, it is like the pinacle of driving games for driving fans. In contrast look at Forza 3's trailer. Thats all in game footage edited together with the new camera editing feature. http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-09-forza-motorsport/50004 No CGI, no effects, all in game. So for me GT5 needs a lot of work to get anywhere close to the Forza series now.

I would like to see either Boothroyd or Tisdale. Both exactly the type of personality we would need and both have done fairly well over the years.
-
Got it yesterday. Its a good game but i think because i played Crackdown for a fair bit of time i see a lot of similarities that stop me from loving it. But i love open sandbox style games so im sure it will grow on me over time.

Sorry mate but thats a load of brown stuff and you know it. Wotte was here from the very start of the season. He knew the players, he probably had a hand in bringing in some of them. On paper the team should not have been fighting a relegation battle. Administration played no part in his failure to get the team going. Unlike Jan Wotte had the luxuary to play the players he wanted to play, hell he even got a champions league striker back to play. He got players in of which some did ok and some did not. His conduct was laughable not something to praise. He is a manager so is meant to do what a manager does. Do not praise someone for that. It is like saying well done on being a builder. You don't applaud them for their profession but for what they create, a builder is praised on their building work not on their ability to talk about how they are going to build it. The same rule applies to all proffesions and with Wotte it is no different. He is employed to act as the manager of this club, the guy who is meant to sort out the running of the day to day activities of the club and speak to the media. He is there because that is what the job entails not because he wants to. The guy had 5 games short of half a season and at no point did the team looklike it would survive under him. If anything the performances got worse. He left us further away from safety then what Jan did too. In no area of Wotte's tenure has their been a positive. Again relegation is the worst thing that can happen. It is failure. Administration did not result in us being relegated the players and the coach's did. They are the people on that pitch playing the games. The difference between Pearson and Wotte is Pearson came in with a sinking ship and turned the points ratio around by 100%, which saved us from relegation. Wotte was here from the very start and just continued its downfall. If the guy could not get a job in Holland i very much doubt he is as well respected as you try and portray amongst the football world.
-
Personally i don't take what Wotte says with any ounce of truth. Remember he said "if i fail to keep Southamptin in the Championship then of course i will resign and look for employment elsewhere. But im very confident in my abilities and believe i will keep them in this league". Over a month later and no resignation after his failure of keeping us up. So when he says "I have received offers from abroad", i take that to mean "I have been offered bugger all at any decent level football club, but if i mention it then they might think im that bit better then i am, they might think quick we better sign him up before someone else does". I would say thanks and so long but you didn't actually do anything positive. Nothing is worse then being relegated. A shining example of a guy who tried to talk the talk but couldn't walk the walk.

Having seen all but 6 games last year i think im in an ok position to judge DMG's performances. The reality is for majority of the season we played with just him up front. He had the most shots in the league by far and barely made it to the top 25 list with 12 goals. Of which if i remember right 2 or 3 were penalties. He even missed a couple too. At the start of the season he was very poor in my book. However as the season progressed especially towards the latter half he started to improve. Now for me i don't rate DMG as highly as say nick does. But the lad could do a job for us in division three. He is not prem league material and barely ccc material. He has played in division 3 before and didn't do so well but is older now and hopefully more wiser. But what worries me is he is not prolific, he is a big waster of the ball. In the 3rd division we are going to need people who can score goals at a lot higher ratio. The whole team will need to help out more then they did this season with goals. We are going to be the team all the other clubs will want to beat next year, it will be very physical and very difficult for strikers. If we look at Leicester they had players like Howard and Fryatt. Very physical players but more importantly football brained players. So if i had to choose i would rather someone who is more experienced and more clever then DMG. If we could get Dexter back then i would sell him.

Depends a lot on how much the prices are. I love the club and have spent thousands over last season following them. But now we are in the technical division three. Charging people £24+ a game to watch this level of football is a joke. If they come out with those prices then they will have less people watching games then have been this season. They need to be realistic, the prem league is very far away. We are just as close to dropping out of the football league all together as we are to the prem league. They need to drop prices by at least 40% or the same thing will happen next season as it did this season. The club needs money and needs to follow Norwich's plan. They have sold out around 95% of their stadium already with cheap season tickets. £200-£250 is about right. £10 a game for season ticket holders and £15 for the no season ticket holders. Being near to the £30 mark in this day and age would be stupid. So while Matt coming back to help is all great it does not change the fact this club is not a charity. Whoever gets the club will be doing so to make money off of us and off of the club. People need to remember that.
