Think he likes Bailey and Racon at Charlton, also remember he supported Fortune after he hit someone or something. If we could "poach" those three from Charlton that would be great, especially Bailey. His players record at Charlton is very mixed, a few bad and a few good. I did not realise he actually was fired after 17 games when they were 1 place above the drop zone last year. Listening to what these Charlton fans are saying they make it sound like they were bottom from the go.

A realistic and sensible appointment. Has done well at other clubs except Charlton. Has a 42% win ratio which is better then most people, WGS only had 33% before moving to Celtic and Wotte has a 22% ratio. The guy if given the right backing by the chairman could do well here. For League One it is a good signing and if he can get a team together like he did at West Ham and at Reading then we should do well. For those negatives who are already having a go who did you expect Fergie? Wenger? Strachan did well here but he was never going to come here again while we are where we are. Of what is available Pardew is a manager who gets teams playing nice football, he is respected despite his firey personality in football. He in a way is like Southampton, a person/team who has had a rough patch and needs to have some stability to build for the future. Of what was available he was not the dreamers choice but if we are after a good man manager who will tell it like it is then we have found that man. So Welcome Alan lets now start getting in some players!

Pardew has a win % total of 42%. To put that into perspective Wotte has 22% and Strachan has 45% (only 35% for his time with us). Stats wise he is not that bad.

Overall if it is true i will be quite happy really. He is a good manager who has had a bit of a rough patch. Some of the things people are saying i remember they said about another manager coming here after he took Coventry down. Which shows anything can happen. The reality is we are in league one with minus 10 points. Our pre-season has all but gone and our squad is dreadful meaning this season i don't think we are looking at promotion. So whoever comes in must have at least a 2 year plan to get the club back to the CCC. If Pardew can do what he did at Reading and West Ham by building a squad with good players and an English attacking style attitude then we could go places. Naturally on the list there are people we would prefer but this season is probably a season to soon for them. Getting back to the prem league is going to take time, 3 years at the bare minimum. We need to build a team for that, a group of players who all have ambition to progress and all want to play. We have not had that team atmosphere for a long time. I'm sure given the right funds and support Pardew could do well here. He has done it before.

Have paid, least i think i have..... Maybe the Logo could have Michael Fialka's face with a red and white cross going through it?
-
Would be happy with Pardew, a no nonsene tell it like it is guy, but to be fair i would be happy with anyone on that list but Tony Adams. Think Adams needs to do what Ince and other managers have done and work lower down and earn your way up, He has only been a manager due to his playing reputation, as we have seen so often players do not always make good managers. The difference with Shearer is simply because he has connections to the club, and because he was about to punch Barton in the head, anyone who does that deserves a managerial job to be honest

Another thread falls victim to the feel good mafia....

Watched 2 of the friendlies and in all honesty just like i said last year we will struggle without some new players coming in. My view the team will looklike this ----------------Davis--------- James----Perry---new guy/Wotten---new guy/Mills Thomson ---New guy/Morgan---Gillett---new guy/Lallana -----------Rasiak/John----Saga-------- 4 new players needed just to begin with. The team needs to score goals to win and we lack players able to create those chances, even more so now Surman has gone. Thomson and Klaggon (is that how you spell it?) are our young bright sparks with a bit of flair. But they are nowhere near the level required to get out of this league yet, they are youngsters for the future. Last season shows what happens when you put people who are not ready for the first team into your side to soon. Players like Wotten and Euell are past it, if we are building a team for promotion then they will not help it. Morgan could be a good player if he get's his head down and gives his all but to rely on him would be stupid. We need players who will wear the shirt with pride and get around the pitch. While John/Saga and Rasiak hardly fit that bill they score goals and that is what we need. If John and Rasiak can re-create their goal prowess of a few seasons ago they will bag a lot of goals between them. I really hope we get the manager situation finished by the end of the week as new season is almost 3 weeks away.

So Strachan back to being fav again then.
-
It's not too bad really will get one for those away games
-
I would be happy with any of them to be honest. First choice would be Strachan then Pearson. Hoddle and Tisdale i would not be as happy about but im sure both could do well for us given the right backing.

Poll: Would you be happy for Pearson to be our manager?
St Marco replied to St Marco's topic in The Saints
Because he was added to the Poll after like 4000 people had already voted. The other thread is a speculation thread i.e someone reported he might be appointed. This thread is just a poll to see if people would be in general happy for him to return i.e if ML decided to appoint him would people see that as good or bad. By the looks of things most people would see it as a good appointment. -
As most people had already voted on the New Manager Poll thread would be difficult to gauge if fans would be happy with his return or not. So maybe the nice mods could turn this one into a poll Would you be happy if Nigel Pearson was appointed Southampton manager? Yes or No would not be happy I vote, yes i would be happy

What a complete load of ********. Firstly League One is a difficult league, even more so now three ex prem teams have dropped into it. Secondly were you even alive when Pearson was here? We had a severe injury crisis which left our defence buggered. Not only that but we lost players who were forced to go out on loan such as Skacel and the clubs top scorer Rasiak etc. We had no money to buy players as you suggest and we were able to bring in five players, Wright,Luckeeti,Perry,Daily and Picard. 4 of those 5 loan signings helped to keep us up. The decline was not that bad was it? Before Pearson had taken over we had lost 4 games in a row, 5 of our last 6 games. Pearson came in and took us on a 5 game unbeaten run. In the 13 games prior to Pearson we had got just 8 points, that is across both Dodd and Gorman and Burley. With an average of just 0.6 points per game we would have ended the season with 28 points had we continued that way, meaning last in the league and 25 points from safety. Pearson came in and we lost only 3 more games in that time and ammased 16 points from his 13 games. A 1.23 ratio. Meaning if he had been in charge for the full season we would of had 56 points and finished 15th. Not bad for a guy who had the teams best players injured or loaned out and came in with just 13 games to go. As for Wotte he had the freedom to choose who he wanted to play, he gained players who were brought back from loans such as a champions league player. He brought in players like Size,Molyneux,Smith,Liptak,Pullis,Gasmi etc etc All of which only only one did ok. The difference between Wotte and Pearson is Pearson came in and saved a team destined for relegation. Wotte came in and had no effect at all. That is the difference between a good manager and a poor manager.

Could not give a flying **** how much money they made from this club, if it is £1 or £3m. If someone said would you pay £3m to get rid of Lowe and all the depressing crap that has happened to gain a billionaire who is serious about taking the club forward then that is money well spent. People need to let go of these negatives they seem to have. Reading some peoples remarks over the past few days they seem really bitter and upset that we have a new owner, giving off the impression they wanted the old days to continue....
-
I don't feel sorry for him one bit. The business he is in is a results business, if he thinks he would be safe with getting us relegated and winning just 5 of his 24 games. How he can seriously expect to be kept on at a proffesional club in England especially now with the resources it has just defies belief. The truth is he did not deserve to be kept on, he had not earned it. His comment about sacking everyone at the club to me just shows how bitter he really is.
-
Pearson = Played 13 - Points = 16 = 1.23 points per game Wotte = Played 23 - Points = 23 = 1 point per game At Wotte's 13 game mark he was 1 point behind Pearson. Think it needs to be remembered Pearson did not have the luxuary to choose who he wanted to play due to people being injured and players out on loan. He came in at the end of the season and if you look at the 13 games prior to Perason we got just 7 points, he came in and increased our points ratio by over 100%. Wotte was here from the start of the season and not only was allowed to play whoever he wanted he got players back from loans and players came in on loans etc. Wotte had half a season to save the club and with his ratio even for the full season we would of still be relegated. Where as if Pearson's ratio had been used last season we would of finished 15th. As others have mentioned i do not buy the whole Wotte has done great to stay around. The guy was under contract but yet still lined up a job in Egypt. He was out of contract for under a week and chose to stay himself to see what would happen. In that week he was given a new 1 year contract and will now get that paid off. The guy waited around to see what would happen because his offeres were not as good as here, numerous times he mentioned he would leave, it is reported the players did not respect him, if you are under contract then you are contracted to do that job, does it make me loyal because im doing the job im paid to do? What was he going to do sit at home and void his contract? To me people have got it mixed up, the guy had more then enough time and had players who should have kept us up, his decsions on the field lead to us going down, it was not unluckyness and it was not unfair, we got what we deserved. If the admin team had taken over a few weeks before they did he would of been fired for his performances and everyone would of expected it. The fact only 19% in the poll wanted to keep him longterm shows that 8 out of 10 people did not see Wotte as the future of Southampton football club.
-
It's fantastic! It is not sinking in that i might not actually have to see BWP run offside again! We can actually get better players then the ones we have! When was the last time we had the luxuary to do that?
-
Anyone else finding it all a bit surreal? We have gone from being relegated from the prem league, protests aimed at the mismanagement by Lowe, new guy comes in saying he has saved us called Wilde, says he will pay back the money we spend, he pretty much gets kicked out by the board he brought in, they find a new investor it gets rejected, they resign, Crouch takes over and brings in Dudd and Gormless, they fail and get replaced by Pearson, we survive in CCC on last day, he gets booted out as Wilde and Lowe come back tag-team style, they parade on tv a guy who was already a manager at another club and the first they knew he had gone was when they saw him on tv, they sell Andrew Davies, brings in more people for a new revolutionairy style of football, it goes tits up we are in the bottom three for ages, manager gets fired, give the new job to a guy who has never got a team promoted and 3 of his 5 pro teams relegated, calls Ryan Smith "World class", club goes into admin, Lowe says we wont get minus 10 points because he is a genius, we get -10 points, we get relegated to League One for the first time in pretty much 50 odd years, we await a buyer for ages and are told our club will start having to be wound up soonish, staff don't get paid, consortium with MLT as chairman go into exclusivity, turns out a dude lives at home with his mum so pulls out of the deal, we look fooked, we sell two players of which 1 is a fan favourite, Wotte looks set to stay on for another year, Davis looks set to sign for West Ham THEN BANG In comes the new guy who is sole owner and has a vast fortune, within 24hrs gets Davis to sign a new deal and tells Wotte to fook off. Potentially a good manager such as Strachan, Coppell etc might become our manager. Releases season tickets of which save me best part of £100....And that is just in 24hrs I didn't think good things happened to us?!
-
Finally common sense prevailed in the end then. If you got a guy who has got 4 of his 6 proffesional teams relegated and none of them promoted then what does that say? If you had money would you feel confident handing it to him? The guy seemed nice enough but if we did not go into admin he would of been fired anyway, it was rumoured ages ago the players don't respect him and other people in the game do not either, didn't Jan call him a **** or something? My view is he was hanging around because he knew he would not get a better offer anywhere else, he talked on two occasions about not expecting to be here in the summer and having to find new employment, shock horror it finally happened. We have saved ourself the future of people waiting for him to slip up to say i told you so again. The fan base would never be 100% confident in his leadership due to what we saw last season. A whole new start is what was the right thing to do, he was being kept on for emotional reasons, when millions and millions are at stake you simply cannot allow that to happen, you need the best guy you can possibly get to help look after your business, Mark Wotte was never that guy and never going to be that guy. So goodluck to him, i hope he can get a role somewhere in the club, maybe a youth coach. But first team coach he should not be anywhere near. The news get's better and better
-
Cheers for being the then only guy connected with this club to actually bother to put your money where your mouth is. Paying the wages through april probably meant we got to keep players and kept the club going. You are a true Saint! However..... I think the club needs a whole new fresh start from the top all the way to the bottom, new manager, new players and new board members. You will be remembered for the great things you did for this club, while Lowe's name is eventually forgotten as the years go by you will be remembered for the good deeds you did. But it is time to let other people have a go, let them have a try. Sit back with the rest of us fans and enjoy the ride for once
-
Sky Sports also now say he has said he will refuse to play for us anymore http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_5422063,00.html That little **** should be left to rot in the reserves, was it not only a year ago he signed a new deal? That season he was one of our worst players not a player in a position to think he should be in the prem league...feck that was his 1st season and he was ****! He spent most of the time on the ground crying when a daisy tried to tackle him, the daisy always came away with the ball....
-
but nich said he had signed for West Ham, it is not like him to be wrong! Seriously though the news get's better and better, Kelvin has done the club proud.
-
So pretty much 80% of the fans on here want either him on a short term deal or to be replaced. We should be planning for the longterm future now not the short term because finaly we have a longterm future. We have wasted so much time already and we will be wasting even more by keeping him on. Thankfully though apprently they will be revieiwing his position, hopefully business and common sense will prevail above emotional.

were on there now, Fred almost looked ashamed to say the words "multi-billionaire"
