  1. Nah this is different. It's technical name is "Gameface" where you put a digital photo online and then can download the 3d you into the game. Has only been in Tiger Woods and Fight Night. Is 1st time in any other game. http://www.easports.com/blogs/fifa/offthebench/post/slug/fifa-10s-virtual-pro-welcome-to-the-start-of-your-virtual-football-career As i said i have used the tool in Fight Night and thought it was pretty accurate so if it is the exact same thing then should be good.
  2. Your 100% right. We should not be appointing a manager who has taken pretty much 2 teams from lower leagues to the premiership and an fa cup final. He did poor at Charlton (who went on to do even worse once he was sacked). We should not be putting people like that in charge. Let's give Fergie a ring? Seriously am i the only one who thinks some supporters (if you can call them that) have lost all sense of reality?
  3. As i said in my other thread not even Fergie would get the players we have playing. Time the fans realised we are a club that has been **** for three years largely down to the players. For people to expect us to have gone from a relegation battling team stripped of all quality to a promotion team in the space of a month are obviously mental. The best players at this club based on performances this season other then Davis are Lambert,Murty and Harding. The rest have been garbage. The fact that three of those are new signings shows he knows what he is doing in my book. The fact that fans have already started to have a pop at him is laughable and a fine example of the culture we as a club have inherited from all that has happened over the past few seasons.
  4. On the match thread i notice some people have said the tactics, team selection were all poor and that Pardew should take some blame etc.. Personally i disagree. I think he is not to blame one bit. I think the players are now the main problem this club has. Being at the game reminded me that while so much has changed in the past three years one thing still remains the same. The performances on the pitch. In that time has there ever been really much to be proud about? We have had countless managers all defending the players after dire performances. That must now stop. I am not one to bash players, it does no good but the attitude of a lot of our players stinks and i truely believe that nothing will change until they are gone. You could have Fergie in charge and he would not do any better. The defence = Perry is past it, Olly is young and makes so many mistakes, is nowhere near 1st team level in this league. Thomas is good in the air but is crap on the floor, has a tendency to just grab people and give away stupid freekicks or penalties. Murty and Harding are new players and the one thing i have noticed more then anything is their desire to get to a ball 1st. I notice it because we are not used to it. That attitude of wanting to impress shines through. Perry and Olly need to be replaced from defence and Thomas needs to learn to be a defender. Midfield = Wotten is past it, brings nothing to the team at all. Morgan is very weak and has very low confidence. Plays more **** games then he does good. We can't afford to have a player who plays only when things go right. Those 2 players make our midfield truely woeful. An old man with his zimmerframe could get past them. Lallana is a player who really angers me right now. His attitude is pitiful. In pre-season he expressed desire to leave, rumours saying he refused to play etc.. He is over hyped and again not a player we should be having here. He creates next to nothing. From his last 40 games of which 33 were starts he has 3 assists. That is ****. These stats show he is not ready for the first team. His performance today once again gave me the impression he will not be the guy to create the chances we need, he will not be a player to run for every ball and help set up anything. Mellis is young and un-experienced. He is like the players from last year, learning their trade. He cannot be expected to be the creative force behind our team. The same can be said about Gillett,Thomson and Gobern. Our midfield overall is very very poor. 2 of the 4 are attitude players where if they are not feeling it will not have any influence. This in turn causes our crap defence more problems. One of them is old and past it, bringing nothing to the team but mistakes. And the others are young and vastly un-experienced. We cannot expect them to produce like a vetran. The forwards - Lambert is new so obviously cannot include him. But both Rasiak and Saga both want out. In their years here they have never really come across as players who badly want to play for us, another case of i will play when i feel like it. While they are both here the attitude will always remain. This in my view is why they do not start. That is the right decision. What is the point in playing people who don't want to be here? How can you build a team around that type of attitude? You can't. Lambert is someone who you can see wants to impress. He tries to get involved even though the service is not there. Being up on his own is always going to be hard but if 5 players behind him can't grab a hold of the game and push forward how will 4 do it? Patterson is a young player so again cannot expect him to be anywhere near ready for this level. My view is the team is utter **** overall. You got a mixture of players who don't want to be here and players who are not good enough to be here. The reason Davis keeps winning man of the match is down to both his ability but more importantly his attitude. If we had a team of Davis' we would not be in this situation. So i think after three years of being defended by both the staff and the fans some players now need to take a long hard look at themself. They are letting the club down and can no longer hide behind the excuse the club is in freefall etc.. The players who want to go should be dropped altogether. That means Rasiak and Saga. Take them away from the squad, do not let them train with them or have any influence on them. Football is a case of confidence and i do not believe having people thinking they want out around a team will help with that. It is like a business, if someone you employ wants to leave they will never put in the same effort as a new guy who has just started. Lallana needs to be dropped as i said before. He needs to get himself sorted. Maybe all those people whispering in his ear over the last few months of last season have taken there toll, he thinks he is better then he is right now and has a guranteed 1st team place. A break will do him the world of good. Perry,Wotten and Olly should not be used unless nobody else is available, period. Wotten has the attitude of wanting to do well and this should be commended but he like Perry are now to old. In this league you need players switched on for the whole game, every game. Today once more showed total lack of marking for their goal etc.. too much pressure on our goal caused by stupid decisions like Wotten's. So basically we need a lot of players. Not just any player but players who will be consistent with their performances. Players who have the ability to push the club forward but more importantly help to get rid of the "can't be arsed attitude" that has become en-trenched in our club. Once we get players in who are like this, who want to play for the club, make something from their careers and progress then the club will progress with them. Because of that i do not blame Pardew one bit, i think you cannot blame him for the players he has. We have tried pretty much every team selection available over the past 3 years and none of them have worked. Is it just that every person is a muppet and can't see what we can see? Until we have a team spirit we will never be a team. When you have players not wanting to be here, that will always effect players who do. Pardew will build a team. He did it at Reading, and did it at West Ham. He will do it here. It is going to take time, a longtime. This time next year i would be very surprised if the team out there this evening looked anywhere near the same. Dean coming in today is a type of player we need. The problem is we need a lot more of them. I hope ML realises this and let's Pardew get them. Rant over
  5. I got Fifa on both formats and the only difference is PS3 version is slightly less bright. That is it. Reason i have both is because im a cheap bastard who does not want to pay for xbox live Quick update though about Fifa 10 "Virtual Pro Mode" - Like with Fight Night you can add yourself into the game digitally and play be a pro looking like yourself. Major impressed with this on FN so if it is the same tool then will be great in Fifa.
  6. I'm guessing he needs to have a medical. As far as we can tell from what their chairman has said the two clubs have agreed a fee. So as he says he would not sign a new contract and wanted to leave next summer for free, meaning he obviously wanted to leave. So i guess the club now can speak to the player and sort out personel terms, have the medical and that will be it. Once a bid is accepted very rarely does a player then decide not to go.
  7. Would be a good player for us. Someone with the ability at this level to push the club forward. A bit of a midfield general who has the attitude this club is so desperate for. However He is not an attacking player. He does not create chances. He in fact only has 1 assist last year. He will make the midfield more solid and that is something we needed badly. I just hope then we can add a new CB or maybe 2. And at least an attacking creative midfielder. Without creating chances we will not score. So welcome Dean. You are a player we have needed for sometime. Goodluck to you
  8. Yeah just had a brief look myself. Not that bad really. Graphics are actually excellent, far better then FM. However in terms of depth it lacks quite a bit. For £2.51 that is a bargain. Will save myself £27 this year and put towards something else like God of War 3 or Mafia 2
  9. Are data updates not patches then? I'm pretty certain all games, especially PC games have patches that fix bugs. WHy would Eidos be any different? Have they all been fired or something?
  10. 6 Patches will be released for CM10 if you read their page..... On a side note let me say a huge reason why Eidos have done this is simply because they know Football Management games no longer sell like they used to. They also know that CM sells probably not even half of what FM sells. They know that few people will spend £29.99 on buying Championship Manager 2010. So they will never gain ground on FM that way. What they are doing with this is more of a marketing tactic then anything else. What they are doing is letting people play the full game for next to nothing. £2.50 is nothing. In contrast to £29.99 for FM that is an 83% difference in price. A lot of people are unhappy with FM right now so will try anything else. This enables them to do so. A lot of people will play it and hate it. But a few people will play it and like it. Those people whould not have played it unless it was cheap. CM10 will probably be crap and that is a main point of why it will be cheap. In terms of reviews were probably looking at 60% or so. BUT the FM series itself is in a deep slump. Only last year it just scrapped into the 80% score. This year from people i know at the various games sites have said that they are again not happy with the series so to expect probably lower scores. So i can imagine FM10 getting scores around 75%. So for probably an additional 15% better score is it really woth paying an additonal 83% in price? As Matt said, is that value for money? Obviously no
  11. Eurogamer hands on http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/fifa-10-extended-hands-on Seems they pretty much think its the greatest football game of all time "Frankly, though, they could take them out completely, and strip away most of the licences, and ditch the improved animations and player likenesses, and FIFA 10 would still impress. It's the ultimate testament to its transformation, in a sense, because what would be left is a similar vision to Pro Evolution Soccer during its heyday of a few years ago. It's hard to imagine that the finished game, which of course does include all of the above, will be any less revered: over dozens of matches between half a dozen cynical football fans across two days at EA Canada, there isn't a single dull game, and it's hard to recall a single pattern emerging - either as a result of the game, or of a player's lack of tactical imagination."
  12. Again can i just say Football Manager 2009 was a complete a total bugfest. And in the games world/marketing world is now the blueprint of how not to release a game. Championship manager 10 will have more bugs then the australian outback. But that does not make FM better or any less buggy as you try to imply.
  13. Can i just say without trying to sound harsh it is slightly ironic that you say CM is bug ridden etc... FM09 is a complete bug fest and for about 80% of the people who bought it could not even get it to install right.....So think you should probably be quiet on that one mate
  14. We got the Pes 10 thread up and running so now we got both I am lucky enough to have actually seen 2010 being played at a media press event a month ago. The main thing i noticed was you no longer move in the way you normally would. A big change from previous football games as you have the ability to move in realistic 360 degrees etc. This from what i saw made things more acurate in terms of dribbling. But also in terms of running without the ball i.e looking for passes. The guy playing the game obviously had been playing it for sometime as could pull off pin point passes Alonso style. It also made tackling more realistic, no longer looked like a lunge every time you try to tackle. This in my view will make being a defender in be a pro a lot more fun. Other then that the AI seemed a lot harder. It was always hard to begin with but in some instances it seems quite clever, especially the keeper. The physics seem a lot better. You feel a lot more vunerable then before in that you can stumble etc..Obviously this makes it more realistic rather then looking and acting like a robot. Can watch a brief video of gameplay footage here to see what it will looklike in terms of graphics etc, all in game gameplay, no CGI (unlike PES ) http://fifa.easports.com/enGB/media.action#mediaId=t0MThvOgTakCI_Qca14w0sAh8pVoBJKO Eurogamer will have a hands on up tommorow and in 2 days will be gamescon which will have some stuff happening according to EA. Some screens That is the view i play in. But if your one of those who play in TV camera mode etc then here are a couple of those So looking forward to both games this year
  15. Eurogamer have a hands on today http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/pes-2010-pro-evolution-soccer-hands-on_5 Got the vibe they thought was more of the same really.
  16. Hmm so hang on a minute what are people actually complaining about then? The fact we lost a game of football? Have people not complained after losing a game of football since football began? Is it not happy when you win, not happy when you lose? The difference being that when we lose we forget that game the day of the next one. I do not see anyone mentioning any of the things you try to imply. I do not see anyone mentioning their unhappyness with Pardew, our new owners etc. What i see is people wanting the playing side to now match the enthusiasm the fans, manager and owner have for this club. All i see is people talking about what they think will improve the team. Is that not what football fans do? Should we be cheering everytime the opposition score a goal against us then? I don't think anybody expects the team to beat any team simply because we are Southampton. What we expect is that every person who is on a huge wage earns that wage. So not really sure what your post is about because even if ML go on to spend hundreds of millions on players and they put in performances like yesterday people would complain. If you ran a business and your staff turned up and put that effort in i doubt you would be happy. So was this a thread aimed at slagging off the fans who think some players need replacing, such as do every fan at every club? Or was it just a snide attack at MLT?
  17. Always thought Wotte was a **** to be honest and this in my eyes just prooves it. Even to this day i never quite understood why people were saying he was a great guy, was loyal etc.. He was getting paid more money here then he would of anywhere else. Being Southampton manager is as good as it was ever going to get for him simply because his record as a manager reads like a horror story, if you want a guy to save your team from relegation the last guy you would call is Mark Wotte. What was he going to do throw away his few hundred grand a week job to go on the dole? Of course he wasen't. Both JP and Wotte were ****. For guys supposedly known for their ability to get youngsters playing "total football" you have to laugh at it. What we saw last year was the worst year i have seen as a Saints fan. From start to finish. I just hope people like Lowe,JP or Wotte never ever get in this club ever again.
  18. Agree with what he says totally. Too many of the players just gave it away and made no effort to do anything about it. To quote what a Huddersfield guy said "you seemed too casual with your passes". And that is all down to attitude. We got to many players who think they are better then they are and when it goes wrong feel they don't have to do anything, its okay for them to play like that. Im so glad Pardew see's that and says "we will make sure we are in on sunday" and "talk about things that can't continue on in this team". The players over the past couple of years have let the club down badly and have been defended throughout that period. But we are no longer almost in admin, we are no longer a selling club selling our best players every week to keep the club afloat, we dont have some dutch muppets in charge who have no experience etc etc. The players must realise that if they dont want to play then fook off to another club as we are no longer in a position where we simply "have to make do with what we got". Those days are over. The players must match the confidence of the fans, the manager and owner. No more excuses.
  19. Just back and not really much else to add that hasen't been said already. Was just a dire performance that lacked too many people giving a ****. The midfield was the main problem. Wotten and Morgan just lacked the quality needed. The wingers were just awful and created next to nothing. The strikers had feck all service so naturally created nothing and the defence was knackered after about 30mins due to midfield being a total fook up and letting people get past so easy. My personel view is that Wotten and Perry have probably played a season too many. The legs have gone and the ability is no longer there. Time for those 2 to move on in my book. Lallana looked the same as last year and not interested, for a creative talent he sure lacks the actual ability to do that, one of the most over hyped players i have seen at this club. Where some have said it was down to tactics i totally disagree. Pardew did everything he could to get them playing and tried different things constantly. The problem was not the tactics but the players. It is not Pardew's fault if Wotten misses every tackle and passes the ball to the opponents every 5 secs. It is not his fault if the wingers could not produce nothing. The ghost of the past 2 seasons remains and it is down to attitude and ability. If it was up to me i would get rid of Wotten,Perry,Lallana and Saga. Reason for Wotten and Perry is down to ability and Lallana and Saga is down to attitude. If those players dont want to be here then fook off and let those who do come in. We need at bare minimum as i said weeks ago a new CB, a winger and a CM. Not youngsters but current players who will be consistent. If we need to pay cash then pay cash. The only players who come out of this game with credit was as always Davis. But possibly also Rasiak. He tried to get involved and tried to do something (even an overhead kick...) but without any service was never going to happen. This is a bigtime reality check for our new owner. With what we have we will finish mid-table at best. With at least 3-4 players (especially a quality CB) we could push for playoffs. The league is hard and we are the new boys with the big reputation and the big stadium etc. Teams will not need much motivating to play us and every away game will be to a almost full house with fans and players up for the game. We cannot go into those games without matching that attitude. We cannot just turn up and think "feck it" like we did today. To many players just gave up and that is what ****es me off. So i hope Pardew drops some of these players especially Wotten and Lallana. In Adam's case i think time out of the first team might make him realise he is in only his 2nd season, he is a nobody and has achived fook all. That might make him change his attitude.
  20. In comparison to championship Manager AFTER the split there is no competition. CM after that is as **** as **** gets. Football manager is where the action is at. However the guys behind CM took a year out and went back to the drawing board. Meaning they have spent best part of 2 years making a new game. As mentioned above and in the other thread it is all a mirror image of what happened between Fifa and Pro Evo. Most of us here played Fifa in the early days and then went to Pro Evo and that was a far far better game. But that made Fifa go and start again while Pro Evo kept doing the same thing thinking people will buy it regardless. Which they didn't. And that is what you have today, Fifa being now the simulation game for football fans and Pro Evo being the arcade game for football fans. The same thing is now happening with FM. They have basically run out of ideas in terms of how to take the series forward rather choosing to rest on their laurels and technically just polish the game each season. Re-design a menu here and there. The best thing for the FM series is to have a good competitior, something they have not had. The reason Fifa 09 and from what i seen 10 is a good game is because they have had to compete thus trying harder to get you to part with your cash. FM does not need to do that because their is no alternative. But this year looks different.
  21. Or let the company do it for free like EA and Konami do.... And you keep saying "There are loads like me" TDD. What makes you think that exactly? If you have a read of that link i just posted you about CM10 have a look at the opinions at the bottom of the page. Notice how most people say FM is "stale" "become boring" "needs to change" etc. etc. For every 1 like you there are probably 10 like me. The problem is as i said your being conned and some people do not see it. It has nothing to do with liking games etc..
  22. Indeed and those few people are to be commended. Paying money every year for effectivley the same product is very loyal. However the real football manager fans were also championship manager fans. We played the game waaay back in 92 and evolved with it. We are loyal to manager games, not the company who makes them. As the old saying goes. "If the game is good, they will play it". Ironically Football Manager has not been as popular as the old Championship Manager series. Maybe Matt can provide some sort of stats here but if i am right the biggest selling Football Manager game of any franchise was Championship Manager 4. It also is the most succesful in terms of critical acclaim. No Football Manager game has matched that. In fact it has declined every year since then. So im glad you are happy with that TDD and it is your money! However me and obviously loads of others as you can see in this thread and the other one are not happy. Why should we pay £30 for a simple update? If you buy any other game you get those things for free or at a smaller price. Look at say Valve games, you pay your purchase for the game and then if they add maps/new features it is free. If you buy say Fifa you pay for the game and they they will do the player updates and add new features for free as they happen. They added Be a Pro Online later on when Fifa 08 came out, that was free. I dont play the game but Warcraft is the most succesful game of all time in terms of sales. Any content update Blizzard do is free. Then you have the expansion type games. For example Grand Theft Auto. When the expansions come out they add hours and hours of new content for about a tenner. Feck all games do that in these day and age, how many Fallout 3 little expansions have their been? You get my point. SI are effectivley giving you an update nothing more. Is it worth full price or expansion price? If you think that is value for money then i am shocked.
  23. Eurogamer have done a "hands on" article about Championship Manager 10. Seems they think its has come on really well and will compete with FM series this year, maybe even getting better reviews. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/championship-manager-2010-hands-on Let's hope so as that might then make SI wake up a bit realise they need to do a **** load more then drawing a line beyond the dugout and calling it a stadium..... I bet the difference in MB between this years and last years is less then 500MB, nowhere near worthy of charging £30 for.
