  1. See and right there is why people think your deluded mate. Your asking how it can be comparable but you answerd it yourself. Burley 28 games 10 wins 5 draws 11 defeats = 35 points = 1.25 points per game Pearson 13 games 3 wins 7 draws 3 defeats = 16 points = 1.23 points per game. A difference of 0.02. That is how they are comparable. And again you mention about the squad etc... Burley had the money to build one of the best squads this club had and he barely limped into the playoffs in a league that is far weaker then the premiership. You are actually trying to emply nick that The Championship is harder to win games in the the Premiership...Look at all the teams who dominate the CCC and when they go up how do they do? They most of the time struggle and come straight back down. Proving that premiership teams are harder to beat. The fact the other managers had to play harder games week after week make his feat laughable. But going back to the squad thing just to rub it in a bit more you fail to mention that Pearson came in with 13 games left to go, had to lose 2 of the clubs 1st team players of which one was the top scorer and the other the leading assister for the previous season, was not allowed to buy anyone, had a severe injury crisis especially in defence and could not play either of the 2 new defence signings in Thomas and Davies. Burley had the luxuary to pick whoever he wanted to pick and spend 12m doing it. So it is funny you say sweeping statement when im telling it like it actually is. Burley started the slide and if he remained we would of gone down. The 13 games before Pearson took over we got a whole 7 points. Games of which were under Burley,Dodd and Gorman. So Pearson came in and increased that by 125%. If he had not done that we would of been down. And that is why people such as you who try and defend Burley from that season make me laugh because the stats show Pearson stopped the slide Burley started and did it with basically everything against him. The ironic thing about it is people such as yourself try to bash those things or be-little them etc but look in contrast to how both have done since they have left us. Pearson has gone on to manager Leicester and be in charge for 51 games, of which he has lost only 5 and won 29. A win ratio of 56%. Where as what has Burley done exactly? To quote my Scotish work collegue "Has there ever been a manager who has had so many excuses for why he has failed"? And that my friend is the reality. Everywhere he has gone he has at some point fooked it up and the excuses come flooding out. I have no doubt when he is fired and takes on another job it will be the same then too. And another thing....to prove once and for all you have no clue. You talk about the players he had for Scotland. So how come those were the same players Smith and Mcleish had but when they beat teams like Italy and France it is considered overachiving but when he uses the same players and get's hammered by a very poor Norway side 4-0 it is expected? Surely he should of at vert least matched the two previous managers results? Which again just shows my work mate is right in that he has so many excuses as to why he does ****.
  2. Andy for a guy that spent £12m in just over a year (the most this club and maybe any CCC club has ever spent in that time?) Should we not have done a bit better then getting to the playoffs? You say he had the best win ratio etc but that was in the CCC with an extra 8 games a year. Everyone else was in the premiership so the fact they are close while being on paper in a stronger league just adds more weight to the "he was crap" argument. Burley is one of the most overated managers to walk the earth, a guy who has manged to blag his way into various jobs, all of which he has left in the same manner. With the fans hating him. Pearson came in and pretty much matched his season % without spending a penny. Pearson has now gone onto better things and is doing well. Where as Burley is sinking like a ship. My Scotish friends will tell you that nobody wanted him to take the job. They all thought he would go on to fook up the hard work the two managers before had done. And they have been proven right. To put this into some sort of facts. He is now the 2nd worst Scotish national manager of all time (not including caretaker managers). To find someone who has done worse you have to go back to Dawson Walker in the early fifties....Scotland had a golden chance to qualify in this group with only Holland to worry about. They almost did it last time while having teams like France and Italy in their groups....To put it in some more perspective Vogts has a better record then he had.
  3. And that will be that then. To be fair he only has himself to blame. I remember he decided to not play Kris Boyd. He said he did not pick him because he was not playing for Rangers (because he was injured at that time). Then what happened after that? Boyd went on to score 27 goals and be top scorer. The next person being on 16.....They only played 3 games this season and he has scored 3 already. That in my book shows the type of guy he is. Makes stupid decisions like that and obviously you will fail. As i said before, crap manager who is living off having one decent season over 10 years ago.
  4. Was he looking at the recruitment board? Surprised he has not taken one of those "many offers" he talked so much about
  5. I can still remember people talking this time last year about how Lowe and Wilde returning will make the club great again and the Crouch regime was a joke. It is quite sad to think that in just over a year we are now onto our 4th manager, and some are already thinking of making it 5th! The problem with the whole Lowe return thing as i said at the time was they came back with no plans, no money, just egotistical selfish agendas that would result in failure totally. So while i think he has done a lot bad, he will be remembered as the guy who brought the club into the CCC and then L1 and the guy who took us into admin. Those 3 things alone destroy any of the good he may have done in the past. But he should still have his name up on the wall, he was chairman and you should give him that. But it should serve as a reminder and example of how not to run a football club. The guy did very little good and much bad. It is just a pity it will probably take us 5 years to get back to where we were when he deicided to fook it all up.
  6. If you scroll through the options on the main screen you should see a symbol with a house and a blue background. If you click that it should install it for you. When that is done you go back to that symbol and your be transported into your virtual living room. From there you can walk about and go to other locations. It is sort of like a massive online game, without really being a game at all. Just sort of like a virtual lobby where you can intereact with certain things. I hate it with a complete passion and since we talked about the thread have to be honest and say i even forgot it existed.
  7. Think that sounds very good
  8. Looking forward to the game, remember going last year. Wish i didn't because it was a snore draw if i remember right. But in all honesty i would take a draw against Charlton, i would see that as a good result. We have had a few promotion fancied teams in the first 6 while Charlton have had to play mostly relegation battling teams. After this game i think we then have 6 easy games, at least i think so. Both teams are football playing teams so could have the potential to be a good game with lots of chances. Personally i would go ---------------------Davis------------------- Thomas--------Trotman-----Jaidi-------Harding Lallana-------Hammond------James-----Holmes -----------Papa Smurf------Lambert----------- Subs: Bart,Saga,Perry,Mellis,Morgan Reason for that is this is going to be a hard game and Morgan has not been so good, bit like last year in that is very inconsistent. This is a game where the players have to perform from the start and he does not do that too often. Overall in the games i have seen (which is all games thus far) James has done well in the centre. He is pretty good at passing and very good at crossing, tries to get forward and will take a shot if he can. He is more consistent and more reliable. Having him there we have gone on our unbeaten run. I have pit Papa up front simply because he is fast, the type of striker we have been missing for awhile now. If Lambert can get the ball down and pass it to him while facing the defenders he could cause problems, more so then Saga can.
  9. This is indeed very true. But Pardew and Coppell are friends and have worked together before. It could be that Pardew suggested Coppell for the position. Maybe the reason why it won't be sorted until end of the season is because Coppell wanted a year out of football? There are a lot of "if's" of course and it could all turn out to be complete ********. But i think it could have the potential to work. Reason i think that is history has shown with this club that a chairman/chief Executive should not be involved in the running of the football side. Rupert Lowe is a fine example of how not to run a football club. So Nicola obviously cannot make decisions on signings because he is not a football man. If however Pardew says he likes the look of a player and thinks it will improve the team he can then tell that to Coppell who will either agree and go and ask for the cash from Nicola to buy the player. Or he could disagree of course and that might create friction. But that is how a club should be run, with caution. No point spending millions on players who will do nothing for the club. Last season we brought in a lot of crap players who will probably now never play again for the club i.e Molyneux,Pullis,Forecast etc. We should not buy players or bring in players on free's who are not better then what we already have. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, if it happen's at all.
  10. Does not look too bad. Did not really notice any difference other then there are now a few people sitting in stands. Which is good. Will they be full of people in the final release? As one or two people at a game in the stands is obviously not that realistic.
  11. As with others i do not like the idea of dof, it does not seem to work much and if anything can cause a lot of problems. Having a guy above the manager whom the manager must come to and deal with can end in tears. However He might be brought in simply because of his relationship in the past with Pardew (no not that kind of relationship). So Pardew might have said he would be a good guy to have at the club to report to. Someone he get's on with and someone more importantly who will understand what managing is about. If Pardew comes to see him and says "we lack someone in these positions, i think xyz might be a good addition" etc then someone like Coppell will be a good person to suggest that too. He would be more likely to say yes. He would then speak to Nicola who will then release the cash. If you stand back and look at it then it is a very smart move, a wise business decision as long as Pardew knows the person, trusts the person and both want the club to do well. If it was some guy who has bugger all experience in english football brought in over his head then would be a clear no.
  12. Some videos just been released from Pax event Martin Tyler tutorial.... http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/fifa-10-tutorial-1 360 degrees dribbling video http://www.eurogamer.net/videos/fifa-10-360-degree-dribbling 3 days to go until demo
  13. Think someone needs to update Wiki He was manager on 22nd nov 2008. Had 29 games last season of which Won 4 - Drew 11 and lost 14. So for last season he had a win ratio of 13% from his 29 games. He actually had to wait until jan 27th for his 1st league win which was 66 days after he took over. So if we take his results this season and put them with last seasons means he has had 35 games and 10 wins. Which is a 28% ratio. So i guess whoever did the wiki entry needs to update it. But either way the point is still the same. The guy took over and it took him 10 months almost with 2 transfer windows to get to the team they have now, with the pre-season that goes with it. If we had that amount of time and those windows we would probably be in a similar situation. That is why i think we will finish the season a lot stronger then how we start it. We will not be getting promoted this year but i would think next season we will be a force in the league and get promoted easily.
  14. Of those 40 games we are capable with the team to win at least 50% of those. If we do that we will obviously not get promoted this year but will put us in a strong position for next year. I would be happy with that.
  15. It is interesting those talking about Parkinson and Charlton. Charlton have started very well this year. Their manager has now had 28 games and won 4. A massive 14% win ratio. It has taken him 10 months to turn Charlton into what they are now. They have had to do what we are doing now in getting rid of a lot of players who simply either don't want to be there or can't be arsed. To expect those things to happen in 6 games after the past few months we have had is slightly mental.

    Boo Boys

Well this is the point isn't it. Do we pay our money to watch Saints win or to support the club? Personally i do not go simply to watch us win. I see where we are and how we have got there. This we must win attitude is probably why most kids today support manyoo or citeh etc..they want to support a team that wins stuff and is generally great. I think a lot of people these days forget what the word supporter really means. Indeed it is a lot of money to spend to watch football but if you go just to see the club win then you should of learnt by now that we don't win too often based on last few seasons and save your cash

    Boo Boys

I forget who said it, think it might have been Bobby Robson. You have the right to express yourself, you have the right to boo. But if you do boo do so knowing that it will not make the team play better it will make them play worse, so boo if your unhappy but don't then expect the team to then suddenly be briming with confidence.
  18. That is your opinion, but mine is the team now looks very good. Yesterday we tried to play football the way it should be played. Colchester didn't want to play that way and that is what made the game the way it was. The other games we have been good. We are a compact team that is hard to score against. That makes a massive change from last season. For the same period last year we had let in 11 golas, compared to just 7 this time out.
  19. I 100% agree. Patterson,Mellis,Mills etc are young players who are yet to play a full season, they are un-experienced. But they are only playing because we don't have better in those positions at the time. And that is not the managers fault. That is what makes their opinions sound so dumb. If we had someone of Ronaldo's quality would we not be playing him? Assuming Papa play's up front then he will obviously play alongside lambert. That gives the speed side we lack. Holmes will obviously come in for Mellis and so on. We have the players who have the ability to make the team better. Soon as we win a couple of games we will push on from there and all this will be forgotten. But they will then complain about something else.
  20. But it is not rubbish is it. Compared to the last 2 years it is miles better. With 4 players being added to the squad in Holmes,Papa,Jaidi and Saga, plus any loans we get next week things will further improve.
  21. But as i mentioned that is people looking at the scores on ceefax or the radio and missing the important things. Which are we now are hard to beat. We played a top 10 premiership team and were the better team, we lost because of 1 flash of abilty from their superior players. We lost to Huddersfield who have lost once in 8 games and are one of the bookies favs for promotion. Swindon who have lost once in 6 and that was to Wolves on penalties. The other games we should have won and that is the difference and why people are not taking people who are moaning serious. This time last year, or the last 2 years we were a poor team who got beat and deserved to get beat. I came away from the far majority of those games ****ed off at how we were playing. This year we are playing much better and if it wasen't for bad refereeing and luck we would of won at least 2 of our 6 games. If that has happened people would not be complaining. So if we play crap and are beaten and that happens game after game then yes you would begin to worry, but that is not the case is it. I think we will draw against Charlton and then go on a winning run. If we get say 3 wins from the next 4 that is 9 points from 12. If that happens it makes all this negativity look simply stupid. There are 40 games left to play. That is 120 points to play for. We are capable of winning 50% of those games for sure.
  22. But as i said what is this opinion? The team is crap, the manager is crap we must sack the guy and get someone else in who will get us winning? That will not happen as it has not happened every single time we have done it. These people never learn. They look simply for the negatives and ignore the positives. Say we did get in another guy and he did the same thing then what? Fire him? How can you plan for the future by adopting that mentality? You simply can't. As others have mentioned we have done that method and it has hindered us further. We as a club will never progress if the fans expect instant success. If your a team who has been flying high i.e a top 6 team for a couple of years then yes you can expect that from a new manager. But a team that has been relegated twice in basically 5 years and has strugled in majority of the other years you cannot expect someone to just change that by signing their name on a piece of paper. The way back to the top will never happen if people think quick fixes = longterm results. The team is playing better then we were last year, the finances are secure, we have a good manager who has been succesful in the recent past etc etc, all the things required to have a platform to push on from. People saying the team is crap, were playing crap, were doomed etc are just talking total ********.
  23. Great post and think the vast majority will agree. At the end of the day most clubs have the moaning group that we have so we are not the only ones. What makes me laugh is that normally these people who care so much and feel so pasionate about the club are normally people who actually never go and watch the games or actually contribute to the club itself. They know more then those who are there and more then those who are employed at the clubs. They should be put in charge because they would obviously do so much better. The whole quick fix mentality which has taken over these people is a cancer that must be removed. I hope Fifa do bring in the manager window that is mentioned as it will teach these people that you can't keep changing and hope to have success instantly. Look at the clubs in England who do well, all teams who have had to be built over time with a manager. As others have mentioned we have been on the slide since 2003, 6 years. Just coming out of admin only a month ago with a squad that was awful the season before. Because we have not won a game it simply must be down to the manager, and by sacking him will mean we will get in someone who will take us on a run of 3 million games and no loses. This is how silly those people sound because basically that is what they are saying. These idiots actually believe that someone could of come in and turned this club around in the space of 6 games without having a pre-season and a squad that was up until the 3rd game, ****. The other thing that makes me laugh is these people use Charlton as the example. What they fail to mention is that Parkinson has been in charge of Charlton since november 28th of 08 and in his 28 games in charge he has won just 4 games, that 1st win coming 3 months after his 1st game, a win ratio of just 14%, is that something we should be looking for? So to try and compare it to Charlton is stupid because the guy in charge has been there for 10 months and has changed a lot of the squad. He built his team with the purpose of playing in league one, it took him 10 months to do that. We on the other hand have just come out of admin with no plan,no staff, crap players and so on. In 9 months time when Pardew has had the same amount of time then compare the two. But after just 6 games again is just silly. So it is hard to take those people serious. They say they are entitled to their opinion and it should be heard, but be honest about it and give some alternatives, don't moan for the sake of moaning. What ****es me off is that it is always the same people, like they are hoping we fail just so they can moan and say "we were right, we told you all along we were going to be ****" etc etc. When the reality is even if Pardew walked away or was fired and we brought in someone else they would say the same thing again and again. So some people need to take a long hard look at themseleves and ask why do they support Saints? It has been a longtime since we were in the prem league, a longtime since we had a winning team. In that time we have tried changing the manager like 8 times and it has got us nowhere. Maybe you should as mentioned in the OP just not bother to listen on the radio anymore and maybe look back in a few years time when things have improved, because it won't happen over night, and to expect it to just sets yourself up for dissapointment. We have done your methods time and time again and it has done nothing. We need to build a team, it will take time, a longtime. If you can't handle that then don't listen on the radio, your feel much better for it.
  24. Just back and once again must say our fans who were not there must be the most opinionated of any clubs fans. You have to laugh at them. Basically the game was one of those meh games. The away team come for the draw and hoof the ball at any chance they get. There was no rytham to the game at all. Every club see's a fair share of these types of games each season. We both could of been there all night and still would not of scored. While some have returned to their "everything is ****" mentality i still remain positive. We were the better team even before the sending off which was disgusting by the way. We tried to play football in the right way. They came for the draw and just tried to stiffle the play. That obviously does not make for a good spectacle. First half we had some decent play and created some ok chances. In a way the sending off ruined the game as made them go into super defense mode. Our problem is and will remain the creating of clear cut chances. People will whine and moan like a little girl etc but the reality is this problem has been deeply rooted in this club for sometime. It is not going to change in just 4 weeks and to expect it to again is just laughable. Patterson showed his inexperience today. I don't want to be harsh to the boy as he is young and learning and people expecting him to be premiership quality in like the 5 games he has played in his life are obviously mental. He will hopefully learn from the game especially in terms of his runs of which he was offside too many. The other interesting thing is that Pardew changed things mid way through the 2nd half after it had become very stale. A lot of people who moan talk about putting Mill's in etc and i think Pardew made the right decisions tacticly. The game improved after the changes in terms of us creating something. Although i felt Mills was very poor. All in all we have still yet to lose at home. We have yet to win either. But if you look at the history books your see last time we went three games without losing at home was from 28th feb to 14th march. A longtime ago. The reality is we have four players to come into this team (Saga,Jaidi,Papa,Holmes) and those 4 will add that creativty of which we are lacking. So while it is of course so easy to go over the top and ***** and moan about every little thing the facts are we are improving as a team but more importantly as a club. It is frustrating as we live in the era of expecting instant success. But i think really all we are seeing are those who expected promotion this year finally realising what everyone else already knew in that this was always going to be a hard season and regardless of who was in charge was going to have a hard job to do. A job of re-building a club up from the bottom up. So naturally those who have just realised that are going to be unhappy. It was a poor game and in truth we should have won. But sometimes football is like that.
  25. crap manager who was paid a fortune and spent 12m on crap players who failed. Pearson had basically the same points ratio with none of the luxuary he had. A clueless manager who has taken Scotish football back to the stone age. All that hard work done by Smith and Mcleish undone by a muppet. The best thing Leon Crouch did was get the club money to offload him.
