Jan, how long has he got? (not looking for an arguement)
St Marco replied to Thorpe-le-Saint's topic in The Saints
Personally i hope he is given time to give things a proper try. But if we continue our ratio of 3 defeats from 4 say 9 defeats out of 12 i cant see him surviving. The few fans who bother to actually support us will fade and that will probably swing the axe. Even those full of confidence will turn if they see we are like 10 points a drift at the bottom by xmas. So it really depends on what it lookslike next year, if we look down will we keep him and plan for the following season? Whatever happens were only 4 games in and there is a long way to go. 2 Wins on the bounce and the negativity on here will be gone again! -
FM is crap now, it is like what fifa used to be like. Same game every year just with an updated roster. Sooner 2K get on with their one the better. However i am interested in FM online and not because i have been helping with it!
-
And you have played it right? Or has someone who is bound to a non disclosure contract told you that? Because right now it is still in beta. I havent played it but the fact it won best game at LGC this week ahead of games like Spore/LBP/Gears 2 etc.. etc.. makes me think it cant be all that bad.

Personally having watched all of them i would say Davis then DMG.

Not normally into this kind of thing but holy **** that is quality! http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/warhammeronline/video/6196450/warhammer-online-age-of-reckoning-official-movie-10?hd=1&tag=;hd;1

They said about a week he would be out http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,16368,1783_4024625,00.html Seeing as that was 9 days ago would expect him to be near returning.

Because they are biased We all want us to win but football like most combative things is all about tactics and ability to change them. If you play a certain way all the time your opponent will work it out. Football is like boxing, you try to find ways to hit the person, if you keep throwing the same type of punch your opponent will be aware of it and expect it thus making it easier to deal with. Our problem is we are very limited in our moves, hence why very few if any teams play total football today.
-
We are great at passing around the half way mark, our problem is when we try and pass it forward. Today Holmes i thought did some decent crosses just nobody was forward enough to get it. Blackpool hustled the ball and man marked well. So i dont think it was us having an off day as i have seen the same thing many times to know now if you work out our forward patterns you can stop it. In the 2nd half they worked that out and stopped Holmes and Lalanna totally and the chances dried up. As others have mentioned when that happens you need a plan B. Ours was to bring on Dyer and for the 1st 5mins or so it seemed to be ok, he then got double marked and that was it. Then we tried hoof ball. So i dont think it was an off day as i have seen it many times in pre-season, at Cardiff and against Brum. Teams that play us will find out quicker that if you stop Holmes and Lalanna you pretty much stop our free flowing passing which results in us self destructing.
-
What i didnt get is if our plan b is to bring Wotten on how does that = goals? In my mind we should of had Skacel on the bench. At least he can set up goals and score some himself. Ah well least we have got Pullis now, he is a goal threat!
-
He tried for about 5mins as 2nd half started, he ran after the ball, i expect that from every player. But he gave the ball away so easily and falls over at the slightest thing, some of his passes are just woeful. He was poor and the fact his brief spell stood out shows how poor game was.

I was actually talking about the nick who started the thread But i 100% agree with you people shouldn't be glorying anything hence why i said my post. We need to be realistic and he wasent being. If that was an Alpine or DD post he would of been all over it like flies to **** so it is only right it goes the other way.

For me it is because i dont expect the world from these lads. They are unexperienced, the manager is unexperienced but yet somehow people expect them to win no matter what. When we win i know it wont be many this year so it means more. A win against Blackpool to me would be excellent because i expect them to be around us at end of season. A loss against a team like that is hard to take as lets be honest they wern't even that good. We have a long way to go and we need to keep the confidence levels up, we can survive and that is what our expectations should be.
-
Still stand by what i said pre-season, we will be in a relegation battle. We play some nice football and some bad football, but the thing that matters is the end result. We have won 3 games in 11 including pre-season and that is relegation form. We are only 4 games in and there is a long way to go. But if we find ourselves at the bottom adrift after the next batch of games things will just get harder and harder for us.
-
Be interesting to hear your definition of struggling nick because we have lost 3 of 4 and JP has now lost as many as NP did in his entire spell here (13 games). And if memory is right you were one of those saying NP was ****? We are struggling and having expectations like you have isn't going to help the lads at all.

Just back and have to say that was very poor display, by the team and by the idiots who boo'd them off the pitch, disgraceful. The performance was like our pre-season games where we showed effort for the 1st 25mins then just fell apart after that. What was even more worrying was the 2nd half we reverted to long ball even with John not on the pitch yet. Speaking to a Steward he summed it up perfectly "All flash and no substance". We can pass the ball about on the half way line better then anyone, but going forward we haven't a clue and defending at times is just pure frustrating. The only player who came out with credit for me was Davis again, if we had a worse ref we would of been beaten by many, if we didnt have Davis in form it would of been even more. The only chances i can remember us having was the 2 DMG made for himself and Gillets free kick, other then that there was nothing. I've said it before and i will say it again, Dyer is dire. He lost the ball in his 20mins probably more then the rest of the team combined. He gets taken off the ball by a micro beast. Also JP showed in my view some really poor decisions especially by bringing on Wotten (a defensive player) when we were 1 down. Now that is all negative. The positives are they are young and are having to grow up very fast now and not having the time to develop as other players have. It is not their fault if we get beaten because they have no experience. Booing them is stupid and will just make things worse for us, they need the support of the fans because that is the only chance we have. We have no money so cant buy anyone. The people who are expecting so much from them should be ashamed.
-
Exactly and people need to remember this. The guys are doing us proud and raising the expectations bar after 2 games is just a joke. They dont need that pressure, what they need is your support regardless if we win or not. If the season stopped now we would be 17th and i would be happy with that! The team if kept together could go on and do very well in the future. We will have ups and we will have downs. Applaud the good but dont be too critical on the bad because they are just kids, remember that!
-
Then you obviously didn't go to either of the games because they had 6 different players last night playing compared to when we first played them. Where as we had 3 if i remember right.
-
Wow what a stupid post. We have won only 1 league game against a team who have not won in the league in a year and against a Birmingham reserve team almost and now all of a sudden we are free of struggles? Truth is if we play like we did at Derby we will not be in a relegation fight. But to start saying things like you are really could make you look an idiot if we lost at the weekend or we lose players to injury. The actual "realists" know we are in for a very tough long season where every early point gained will be vital. So enjoy these 2 wins, feel happy about them as i do, but dont be arrogant about them because that just sets you up for a fall.
-
To be honest i want Pompey as i think now would be the best time to play them. They havent won in awhile and we seem to be doing ok. If we won that game it really could push the confidence levels on. For both fans and the team!
-
Was a nice game to watch and again i think it is proof we finally have a "team" mentality at the club, something we havent had in many years. I really hope we can continue like that as the boys done us proud again and compared to the crap we had last season in both cups it makes a really nice change! How lallana hit the bar then post then missed i will never know! Thankfully he made up for it
-
Blackpool,Barnsley and Doncaster are all vital games because they will most likely be amongst us near the bottom trying to survive. QPR,Ipswich i dont really expect anything. So because were Saints chances are we will win against QPR and Ipswich and lose the rest! Either way i think we will find out what kind of season were in for after those games.
-
Just back too (well i guess most were on the same bus so we all back at same time!) and one word i would use to describe the performance is "outstanding", the lads did us proud. It wasen't easy as the crowd was hostile (understandable) but they showed they are a team that will stand up when the pressure is on and do well. They could/should of won by miles as make no mistake this was a mauling in every area except the score. Just before we scored Davis made a simply amazing save when he had a 1 on 1, i wonder how many of us thought that was 1-0 to Derby then? Gillet was my man of the match followed closely by Lallanna. In truth they all played well and James White i felt did superb. But it also must be mentioned JP got the tactics spot on. It takes balls to drop a player like John. Superb performance and i know if we play like that for the rest of the season we will be fine! Was nice to see the crowds respect for Holmes too. On another note how on earth does Jewell who hasen't won a game at all in over 31 matches keep his job? I was looking at him in the game and he did fook all, just sat there probably thinking about making videos Personally i think Derby deserve what is happening to them for the way they treated Davies.
-
I find it strange people saying this when for about 70mins of the Cardiff game and at least a half at home to Birmingham we looked like we were playing for a draw.....I will be there tommorow but i can't see us going out gung ho for the win, we need to create chances and if we do that either win or lose tommorow i will be happy. Derby are a ****e team who haven't won for like a year, hope that run continues!
-
Because i love football and i love this club. The people i meet while off around the country are among the best you could ever hope to meet. Everytime i go to a game i hope we win not expect it. If i went to the game expecting it i wouldn't be a very good supporter as i'd have ignored everything that has happened recently. We will play crap more times then we will play well, we will lose more then we will win, we will get colds out there in winter. But were do it all again the following weekend because that is what supporting is! If we wanted it all to be so easy we would of done like most of the kids round here today have done and support man yoo or chelski. You have to suffer the bad times to appreciate the good.
-
This is the reality they will never accept. Some as i have said confuse negativity with realism. The funny thing is i bet those who are happy with our situation are the ones who actually don't spend anything on supporting it.
