The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC
St Marco replied to lenwilkins's topic in The Saints
Okay fair do's. Because Cortese should not be mentioned here as it clearly say's in this IFO report it was dealt with by the head of retail. So for all we know he might not have had anything to do with it. I will however ask one question that a fellow Saints supporter who has been a ticket holder as long as i have asked me today. If you are a huge Saints fan. Had been to see them through the bad and good times. Spent hundreds of pounds a year on travelling to see them. Obviously a big fan. And you for whatever reason ****ed them off and they declined you a season ticket what would you do? Would you A, accept it and not watch Saints for the season? B, Get someone else to buy the ticket for you? or C, Go public about the treatment and seek media exposure of your Victimisation? I.e on forums, paper, compalints groups and so on. Now be honest here. The likely hood of most fans, or most normal people is to be ****ed off that you can't watch the games! Your find a way! So i bet the vast majority of fans would choose B and simply get someone else to buy the ticket. Get your mrs to buy it. Fook morales and politics i just want to watch the games! But you just know that if this happened to Nick he would not do that. It isn't his "style" shall we say? We all know at the very least he deserves an explanation. But is your love for Saints a political thing or an emotional thing? For me i will climb over the walls to watch if i have to! Point being rather then be quiet about it and just watch the games by getting around it i.e get your mrs to buy it and gift it to you he couldn't do that. Has to go the morale path. And you have to say that his chances of ever watching Saints again are made smaller everytime something like this is put in the media. At the end of the day the club legally don't have to give you a reason why. Which sucks but that is the law. -

Then why did you say "supposedly Cortese has acknowledged this and I am hopeful that should decisions like this be taken in future, that they will be explained properly (although I am still waiting for an explanation as to why there is no solent forum despite cortese saying at one of the dinners he was eager to have one." Only a few posts ago? What has that got to do with a Saints fan not being given a ticket? Sounds like a pop at Cortese to me? -

Is it just me or does this thread seem to have gone the way of those threads in the summer where people are really just using this as an excuse to take another pop at Cortese? -

And there it is. As Wes tried to explain to you there could be lot's of reasons why. - Selling un-official gear on the back of the clubs trip to Wembley to make some money for himself. - His negative remarks about the owners when they came in - His previous comments about the old regime and how he supported them. - The Saints party at Silverspoons, which a lot of people think he made money from. - The Sing for Saints thing, what happened to that money? - His comments in the press about the payment plans i.e lack of them. and so on and so on. As some people have tried to explain and people just don't seem to be getting it....he is not banned. He can go and watch any game he chooses. He has however been rejected tickets AT DISCOUNTED prices. That is what a season ticket really is. Some might put sentimental attachment to it but in a business sense that is all they are. I bet you there are countless others who have had that ability removed to. But of course it isn't a news story unless it is a "chief of the supporters" is it? -

I agree with others that he deserves an explanation at the very least. Hopefully Cortese or whoever deals with the tickets will finally give him that explanation. But as i said before it would not surprise me to see that explanation be that Cortese thinks he went against the club by flogging un-official merchandise/souvenirs. Which however you want to spin it was for personal gain. Where as obviously if you bought the official stuff that money goes to the club. But he is at least owed that explanation if that is indeed what it is. He is not banned though so i think that word needs to be dropped. He can go to any game he wants. He just can't buy a season ticket. -

Totally disagree. It is like someone slagging off some guy then crying about it when he is not invited to his party. I respect you sticking up for him but please don't try and portray him as some angel of Southampton. I am sure those who went to Silverspoons (http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/johnstones_paint_trophy_2010/6452016.Saints_fans__party_was__a_victim_of_success__say_organisers/) or were involved with the proposed music concert would disagree. And on top of that wasen't he pimping out un-official merchandise outside Wembley Del Boy style? Maybe those things played a part in it? -
I will take a win while playing **** over losing while playing awesome any day. The guys did well to turn it around. Lucky we didn't lose as everyone other then brighton won too! Onwards and upwards hopefully.

YESSSssssss ****ing get in there son, Super Rickie lambert!! COYRS!
-
All results other then Brighton's going against us....
-
Come on Saints find one more!!
-
Come on Saints ffs!
-
Forgot Lambert was playing tbh
-
What ****es me off is people are already making excuses. We shouldn't lose or draw here. You can talk about other teams records until you turn blue in the face but the only results that matter are our own. And losing or drawing this game mixed in with the last 2 league games would be a dire set of results. If people think 1 point from playing against Notts County.Tranmere and Exeter is a good return then you have really low expectations!
-
Brighton actually won 1-2 at Exeter though?
-
Be honest, one of you bought a 3d TV with the money instead of paying for a decent server didn't you?
-
I am sure Redknapp would find a way
-
Must win here no excuses. 1 point from the last 9 would be fecking dreadful.
-
The squad we had is good enough to win the league. We have added hopefully a couple of players who will give us the ability to mix it up a bit when things are not working out in games. On top of that we have kept our 2 brightest youngsters in Lallana and AOC. So have to say very happy with that. There will be no excuses at all if we don't get promoted. In the past we have said "he sold his best player!" or something like that to try and justify our failings. As far as i can see there will be no excuses this time around.

League Table since Adkins - indications for 2nd half of season?
St Marco replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Yes without a doubt there is plenty of time on our side. Still got 3 months of games to play! But a loss tonight could see us 8 points behind 2nd. Which i am not sure but i imagine the gap from when we went from 9th to 2nd is not what it is now? Meaning a win won't take you 7 places up the table and into the auto spots? -

But we have played league games. We only have 1 game in hand over Huddersfield and 2 over Bournemouth. But we need to win both those games to get back above them. If we had won those last two dots we would not of fallen, that is what the graph is there to represent. They don't have a graph that has implemented the various excuses i.e played less games etc -

However you look at it you have to say Adkins has done what is expected of him, no more no less. What matters is the game tonight, and the one after that and so on. If we don't get the auto spots i think a lot of people would see that as failure. Without trying to sound negative this dip in this graph does concern me a little Let's hope we stop that downcurve tonight! -
They would then complain a 3 year contract was not long enough and the chairman was thinking too short term!
-
Nice pacey guy, what we needed really. Welcome to the club!

Yeah but look at Ngussen's goal record. 4 goals in his last 40+ games. Not really a goal machine. Think creating goals is his line of work. DMG is not the fastest guy in the world, can be a bit lazy (quite often!) but he did get into a lot of 1 on 1 situations and a lot of the time scores He did so again today for Forrest. So i don't really mean bring in DMG i just mean someone who we can pass the ball through the defence to. Try and break the offside trap etc. Personally i think our forward play can be quite predictable. If we take Guly off and bring Barney on we are just going to play the same way. All three of them are more of your hold the ball up players. When i was at the game yesterday i had a good chat with the guy in front of me and he thinks one of the reasons Rickie is not scoring goals is because he has to come back a lot more to get the ball. Before we would have a Waigo, or Antonio who would burst through and run at the defence. That gave Rickie the freedom to move up the pitch. He would then have a higher chance to get onto crosses or get on the end of blocked shots or deflections simply because he would be in their box, wouldn't have to run as far. I think it was a really good point. Basically we are asking him to take on the back line with the ball at his feet and he is just not that type of player. Their defence just pushes him out wide, that loses his ariel threat. We need someone to knacker out their defence, make them have to run back to catch one of our players. In a way that is what we had to do against United with Hernandez and later on Nani. They were offside a few times but all it takes is one of those times to not be offside and they can score. Hernandez took his chance. And by the end of it we looked totally shattered.
