If the Pompey Trust take these very large donationd from 1500+ of Pompey's finest and still manage to screw it all up, what chance of EVER being able to properly fund a Phoenix club some time in the future? There's rather more at stake here than just getting over the starting line.

Hosting company probably took the view that with £3 million in the bank Pompey could well afford to pay on time (or in advance) now. I expect electricity might feel the same way next.

Great performance. And two away goals scored. Might seem like a small detail, but it isn't. Swansea had such a nervous start to the season last year.

Sweepstake on what minute the first patronising comment from sky will be
sotonswan replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
"Looking to emulate the success Norwich had last year" - 3 mins "Mourinho wasn't even a physio and he did OK" - 5 mins "In this fixture last year Swansea kept City goaless for 60 minutes" - 25 minutes "Swansea lost by only 4 goals last year. Can Southampton match this?" - 75 minutes -
Agree 100% with you there. I came back to SKY last year after about 7 years away and couldn't believe how dreary and top-6 obsessed this program had become. Jimmy Hill could chair a proper fooball conversation, but the program now is just a mutual log-rolling exercise. Dull in the extreme. You won't hear about Saints again for weeks. Even when they discuss Man City next week, you'll struggle to tell who they played today.

West Brom 3 - 0 Liverpool QPR 0 - 5 Swansea and we took Liverpool for £22 million over the summer. The word SCHADENFREUDE was invented for days like this. Dyer scored twice as well.

I wonder how (or indeed whether) the FL intend to police BC's reduced charges. Are these held at Companies House? When could we expect to see these updated publicly? Surely the the FL would expect to see copies of faxed submissions to CH before handing over the golden share. Or maybe they'll just takle BC's word for it that it's 'in progress'.

How wonderfully serendipitous. I couldn't resist trolling the Cardiff board with this - given the red/blue factions have been threatening each-other with physical violence recently. http://www.ccmb.co.uk/fudforum/index.php?t=msg&th=330891&start=0&rid=0

It really is like a modern day Island of Doctor Moreau I'm sure this batch won't make any better citizens than the last one did.

I thought England were rather poor this evening.

Surely Chinny isn't going to allow both of relinquishing parachute payments and reducing his secured debt to the value of FP (as per FL requirements). How are the PST going to convince Chinny to do this? He effectively has a veto on their deal.

Sally Ride, first US woman in space, dies at 61 What they don't mention is that Tam O'Shaughnessy was a woman. America Finds Out That Sally Ride, First Female Astronaut, Was Also First Lesbian Astronaut

Here you go. Mr Pompey himself - Vince the c**t. Very appropriate lyrics as well.

The truly shocking thing of course, is that due to the ineptitude of the Pompey Supporters Trust they won't be able to manouevre a Phoenix Club into the Conference structure this year, with clubs shuffling up to take the League 1 Pompey's place. They have left it too late. If they form a Phoenix Club for 2013/2014 they will almost certainly be starting right from the very bottom. I'm a big supporter of the Trust movement generally (I have a monthly DD to the Swansea Supporters' Trust) but not all ST's are created equally. Not by a long way. Absolute blinder played there PST. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Do you think Trevor Birch is having a breakdown? I imagine him spending the entire day rocking back and forth at the PC repeatedly pressing the [Delete] key. Perhaps Rallyboy could paint us a picture of 'A Day in the Life of Trevor Birch, Administrator'

At least the players/manager get their Premier League wake up early. You're expected to lose to top 6 teams anyway. So long as you don't let it demoralise you then it'll be useful in getting you into gear. The worst thing to happen would be to draw/lose your games against relegation rivals early on while acclimatising. Swansea's first game last season was away v Man City (moved to Monday Night for SKY). We held them to 0-0 for 60 minutes before the avalanche came. 4-0. Hammered. It was a learning experience! Swansea's first 7 results last year were LDLDLWL, and we didn't win our first away game until Jan 2nd vs Aston Villa. You will need testicular fortitude this year. Good luck.

SPOILER ALERT: Re the Christianity saving humanity I picked this up (incorrectly?) because - they dated the space jockey body they found at 2000 years old - the crew determined that the space jockeys were tasked with destroying humanity but then changed their minds - such a big deal was made about the crucifix necklace that the female anthropologist wore (robot took it off her, she made a point of getting it back) The most annoying plot holes/devices - the holographic replays of the space jockeys including where one is decapitated. No explanation for this. Just a really, really, really lazy plot device to introduce the SJ themselves. - isn't it amazing the physical jerks you can get up to after having a cesarian section? My eyes were rolling in my sockets here. - what on earth was the point of the opening sequence of a space jockey drinking the black liquid and falling over the waterfall? You know what, I don't care. 3D execution As I said I'm not particularly experienced with 3D, but using the 3D spiderman advert that was on before the film for comparison I'd say it was very well done. The spiderman advert showed just how bad 3D can be. Garish, pointless movement outside the screen and 2D cardboard cut-outs behind it. Euch. In contrast, most of Prometheus seemed to be 2D (or so subtly 3D that you didn't notice it - so why bother), with the effects only being used where there was an impact to be gained - like the 3D star charts inside the space-ship. Very well done. Shame I just couldn't get on with the glasses themselves (I wear specs anyway).
-
Prometheus - yeah it was disappointing. I'd give it 1/5, and that's for special effects. What did you think?

I saw this at IMAX Southampton last night. First time I've seen a 3D movie. Not a fan of 3D having experienced it. Glasses make the periphery fuzzy. The IMAX sound system totally rocks though. Superb body shaking bass. I've read reports that the film "asks more questions than it answers". I can translate that for you. It's a mess. The best acting in the whole film is by the ship's robot. I really had given up caring what happened to anybody else by about an hour in (half way). There's a strong suggestion in the film that Christianity saved humanity from destruction. WTF?! Why?! Was that really necessary? Yawn!! Remember the rediculous alien in Alien IV. There's another one here as well. But thankfully only for a minute, and it is very peripheral to the main plot. Sad to say, but Alien v Predator is a much better film. Wait for it to come out on DVD. Special effects/sound are pretty good though.

May I point out that the two managers mentioned in this thread title were also the 'cheap option'. If we paid anything to wrest Martinez from his glorious playing career at Chester FC it certainly wasn't very much. We paid nothing for Souza. We paid nothing for Rodgers. If we pay significant compensation to Wigan for Jones that will be a first indeed. I'm happy for you to believe that. You have to admit though, we do seem to be very lucky with managerial appointments, no? I wonder how that works.

We (Swans) never really got over losing Kenny Jackett. I still wake up in a sweat.

I like your thinking. Mystery to me how the Eurovision Association of Wales (EAW) ever allowed us to be part of a British 'team' anyway. Ironic how the battle for Eurovision last place was Norway v GB on the night Norway v England football was the entertainment competition this evening. What were the chances of that? Strange forces at work here.
