  1. I've been resigned to it for some time - makes life easier. I still hope for wins when we're playing, but I know there won't be enough of them even if there is the odd decent performance. Even if we got rid of Wotte now and put a proper manager in place, I doubt they'd be able to pull things round. Spirit of Southampton is totally crushed!
  2. I am also resigned to relegation already. Even if we win this game, and that is possible considering the fact we play the odd decent game in 5, there is no way the current set up will keep this club up. By exchanging Jan for Wotte, we have done nothing positive. There has been no new-manager bounce and the only positive recently has been the return of Saga, who has shown just how inadequate the rest of the players are for this league and what mistakes were made in the 1st half, which have crippled the club and left us deeply in the sh1te. So, no I don't believe it's more important than the match against Sheff Utd on the last day of last season, as there was still hope then. Unfortunately the return of Lowe in the summer and his appointment of those Dutch clowns has fvcked everything up and left no hope.
  3. Wotte's been watching too many adverts and is trying to crush sweets over their players to put them off. I'm squashing your head!
  4. A Team Flowers Monkou Rod Wallace Shearer Holmes B Team Davis Agboola ****erill Beattie Ekelund
  5. Someone else. Rudi's been messed around so much that I don't blame him for wanting out and anyway LB is not his prefered position. Moly seems a liability. Mills or bring someone in with a bit more experience once Rudi's wages are off the books.
  6. Didn't hear any commentry, so dunno how the game went, but it seems Molyneaux is as much of a liability as the other young defenders we've had in the team. Perry and Saeijs seem a decent CB pairing, but I really think we need some experienced full backs who can defend. Euell should also have played from the start IMO and maybe DMG should be "rested" for some time.
  7. Couldn't agree more. He is a quality player who wants to do his best for saints. If we'd had his goals in the first half of the season we could be in touch with the rest of the teams above us rather than almost adrift in the bottom three. One of the lowest scoring teams in the division = at the bottom of the league - it's not rocket science.
  8. So almost 90% of people want a new manager. That's a surprise. I wonder why Lowe doesn't realise this. Lots of good candidates there, apart from the incumbent.
  9. Rudderless Inexperienced Poorly managed Sh1t Fan Collision
  10. If you register on his website, you can ask him a question :-) http://www.jasoneuell.com/
  11. WE do need more defensive cover and someone right-footed who can get to the by-line and cross. Oh yeah and then someone to convert those chances.
  12. I'm not making any predictions, but I don't feel that confident, especially with our attrocious home form. One place above the relegation places would do me right now. I'd take that for our finish at the end of the season if offered it today.
  13. Squad's here - 18 men and Rudi "injured" http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11200 I reckon it'll be -----------Davis James Saeijs Perry Molyneux ----Surman Schneiderlin Smith McGoldrick Holmes ---------Saga Subs; Bart, Lancashire, Gobern, McLaggon, BWP Strange that Wotton's in there and don't see the point of Gillett. Not saying that's the best team btw.
  14. No chance. If we go down, we'll have no money (or administration and, therefore, minus points) and all the best players will have gone. We will be left with a few demoralised youngsters who nobody else wants and very few fans willing to pay to go along and watch them.
  15. This from the independent article: Despite having a team whose average age hovers around 22, and is sometimes lower, Poortvliet is unfazed. He has built his reputation on developing young talent and is optimistic. "It can change our season," he says of the tie, the first time United have visited St Mary's since 2005, when they won in Southampton's send-off from the Premier League. "We are so close to winning games and we believe that when it happens once it can happen a lot of times. I'm sure this team is capable of beating everyone in the league we play in." It does not help when players are suddenly taken away from him – such as Jack Cork, on-loan from Chelsea who has suddenly moved to Watford. Poortvliet's hands were tied. "He was part of our team and now he's gone," he says. "And that was a question of money. We have a problem with that but hopefully the rest of the boys will stay." That final bit is said without too much conviction. "I came here and saw the quality and thought 'with this quality you have to do something special this year'," Poortvliet says of what he inherited at Southampton. "And then you start and you say 'ooh, this is a very heavy competition with a lot of physical teams, good playing teams, strong everywhere'. Now it's harder to achieve what you want. But we have the belief. We have to play with just young players and they have to do it together. Normally you have one or two young players in the team but we have to do it all at once. It needs time and it needs winning games." The last paragraph shows how little he understood this league!!!
  16. We need at least 7, but won't get them unless something dramatic changes. Saga could get us some goals, but he'll need better service than has been the case recently. If we play pretty football in our own half and then don't get in behind them, we can't score.
  17. When you make no attempt to get beyond the defence it's no wonder really. Smith should not have played on the right. We needed someone to attack O'Shea on the outside.
  18. As long as we have a competent LB, we should put Rudi in the hole to see if he can create and score some goals.
  19. I'll buy them a few pints then.
  20. I know depth is preferable, but I'm talking about just having a decent first 11 that could win some games to begin with. It would be much easier to bring one or two younger ones in as replacements than have them starting every game in a losing team.
  21. If we carry on using the same system and the same players our rivals will be out of sight by the end of the month. Please someone stop this from happening. People have posted loads of times that we have a rubbish squad and you can't polish a turd etc, but if you look at it, I really think we're only a couple of players and an effective manager away from being ok.
  22. Are you suggesting we get Dowie in as manager then?
  23. We are seriously lacking in depth, but with what we've got, there must be nearly a team of players good enough to compete at CCC level. A couple of quality additions and we could have a chance if we ditch this ridiculous coach and his addiction to a formation that doesn't work. Perhaps: ---------------------------Davis---------------------------- New RB----------Perry--------New CB--------------Skacel Euell-------------Schneiderlin--Surman-------------Holmes -----------------Saga---------Big goalscoring CF---------- Subs: Forecast, BWP, Lallana, young defender, young midfielder Rudi would be better further forward, but I don't know how good this LB we've signed is. Euell is not ideal on the right, but I seem to remember he did ok out wide at the end of last season when NP got us bullying teams with strength and experience. If we had a decent RB who could overlap, it wouldn't matter so much, or if Dyer came back and started producing the form he is capable of. Overall, we are a few quality additions away from being a team that should be able to compete at this level. What we need is a coach who knows how to get a team playing to win games.
  24. Perry was pretty sharp when he blocked from Carrick, I'd say.
  25. I don't think most people here slate the players. They just point out that at the moment they are not good enough to put in the required level of performance and often are being played out of position in system that doesn't suit them. I have nothing against James, Lancashire, Gobern, Paterson or any of the rest on an individual level, but if I don't think they are not good enough to play in Saints first team and win us games, I will say so.
