Janet Street Porter made an interesting point about supermarket employees. Those on the tills tend to earn less than those in the storeroom - both unskilled jobs. Women tended to work on the till whereas men in the stores. Perhaps women were better suited to the tills because they (arguably) have better customer service skills (able to chat and smile and whatnot) whereas men can move stuff about quicker. Is this a case of gender pay gap? Even if it is I'd still rather work in the stores than on the till, whatever the pay.

Million dollar question. I also don't think Redmond links up with Bertrand very well - something Tadic does better. Maybe this is something Hughes will try.

I go against the grain on this one and would take league safety over the cup. I love the cup but for me I can't take full pleasure from it if we're headed for relegation.

Also I'm optimistic that the players appear committed and want to get us out of this mire. MP didn't seem to be able to get them to work as a team, at least now we've got some hope of becoming competitive again.

On the one hand I worry that our strikers still seem incapable. On the other it's good to see players in all the other positions having the desire to have a real go at goal when the opportunity arises.

Best outcome for me. I'd go into that match a lot more positively than I would vs Spuds.
