  1. Could he be any worse in the air than our tallest CB Hoedt? Surprised there aren't proven Championship CB's we could poach.
  2. So England B-team are pretty average. Hopefully we won't need too many of those on the pitch in the coming game(s).
  3. "I'm sure that Mark Hughes, with his assistants Eddie [Niedzwiecki] and Mark [bowen], will do great for Southampton. I wish they had come before," Tadic said. Nice to hear more positivity about the new boss.
  4. Yep. ****ty youtube clip to follow:
  5. I like the camera person's effort to get the shot of the pretty lady whenever there's a break in the action in this tournament. I've missed that.
  6. 14 Steven Davis
  7. I only read my own posts anyway.
  8. Not the first time he's scored the winning goal in a Champions League final either. Need to get him back here really, competition for Redmond.
  9. https://southamptonfc.com/news/2018-05-14/video-pierre-emile-hojbjerg-post-southampton-manchester-city-1718 Hoj interview after City, reflecting on the boost the crowd gave the players in the final few games. From 1:55........"If the fans put a shift in like they did in the last 5/6 weeks, it's worth points". Would be good to see an improved atomosphere next season. 1-1 draw vs Huddersfield the worst I've seen in the ground. Bournemouth at home the best.
  10. Little preview by the Independent: https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/southampton-vs-manchester-city-live-stream-highlights-goal-updates-video-watch-what-time-when-a8348571.html
  11. No coincidence that our best defensive period, perhaps in our history, was with VVD and Fonte infront of goal.
  12. From how I remember it, the Everton extra-extra time could be justified because of Cedric's injury. Couldn't find any reason for the City extra-extra time. It suited them more than us because we were satisfied with the point and they weren't.
  13. Frustrated me and seemed more unfair than the Everton one.
  14. Same. Loved Cedric's goal in the cup too. Honerable mention to Romeu, Hoj for improved performance, Lemina for improving performance after a poor spell, Yoshi for dependency, Austin for continuing to get shots on target.
  15. "The manager wants to reinstate him, but not the leaders...." Interesting to see how that works out.
  16. Wondering if all might not be lost for Gabbi. Whether Hughes' management could get more out of him and get him scoring again. Always liked him but agree he wasn't working with the system under Pellegrino. Would like to think it wasn't money wasted.
  17. We must give him the opportunity for next season. We finally look like the team who 'want it more'.
  18. ***** me what a relief.
  19. We have more fight and desire than I've seen all season. Not saying the Swans aren't of the same mindset, but we're getting points now and they aren't.
  20. At least with the 17:30 kick off we'll know the results of a few of the teams around us.
  21. Big supporter of Yoshi but Hooiveld and Fonte did the business in the Championship, in part, because of their stature and strength. Hope he doesn't go, especially to some Saudi outfit, but if we do go down maybe it'll be good money to reinvest (don't hold me to that).
  22. Anybody have a good view of Austin getting bundled over by the keeper? I was right in line and it looked like a foul. Would have liked to have seen a replay of that.
  23. True, I think Bertrand truly struggles to play with Redmond and I can understand why. I miss the Clyne/Puncheon partnership (wrong side I know).
  24. Really think we have a problem with Bertrand at the moment. Yesterday he didn't take anybody on, not once, preferring to pass back to Hoedt whenever he got the ball. He used to be an attacking force but seemed disinterested. Only once all game I saw him pass to Redmond and burst into the box expecting a return (which was of course duly ignored by Redmond). Would rather have Yoshida as captain at the moment. Redmond brought very little to the game - running into dead ends whenever he got the ball, creating virtually nothing. Cedric ran his legs off again but he needs to stop going forward if he's not in a state to get back when he loses the ball. In the second half he ran himself out a couple of times and was stuck up the pitch slowly walking back as Bournemouth broke at speed. Lemina and Tadic brought what little creativity we had to the game. Romeu was solid again. Best atmos at St Mary's this season.
