  1. If you remember those rattles seen in the sixties and earlier, I was given a wooden one by a neighbour, but my dad wouldn't let me take it to a Div 1 game as they were all pretty much packed out then. However, the Reserves then got to the Combination Cup final (1969) and thinking it would be empty we took it only to find us in a gate of over 20,000. Out it came and with the first twirl I caught the guy in front, cutting his head open. Lucky my Dad was a big bugger, as this guy wanted a scrap. I was 10. I've been bitten twice by police dogs. Anderlecht away, sitting on the perimeter fence waving a union flag, as the teams came out and after the 7th went in at Watford and we got into their section. :smt075
  2. At least Oldham & Brentford have put roofs over the away ends. I was under the impression that Swindon put away fans in the stand on the left of that photo, level with the penalty area.
  3. Is it entitled "A little bit of Fry & Lawrie."
  4. If they can read and do bother to log on here, then maybe they will agree with the posters. After all, they have been utter carp for most of the season. I think they get off lightly on here, compared to other clubs sites.
  5. But still make you pay seperately for any home tie??
  6. Great work, Minsk, but not wishing to be Mr Pedant (allright I do) Sheff Utd would also suffer as they took 4 pts off us, so would be below Reading on 75.
  7. I dont think the attendances at St Marys will slump that much. But then if Rupes returns, who knows.
  8. I think its only £7 in the ground. I park in West End and walk.
  9. LOL. Didnt get to speak to him, so dont know if he's getting paid. Benham got out to a **** shot to a bad ball. He is the Hants equivalent of Lallana. All show and no bloody end result. Pothas and Ervine batted rally well as the wicket was doing loads all day. Turning point was Ervine getting out just before the new ball to Ed Joyce of all people. His 2nd 1st class wicket, One last thing. Matt Prior is an absolutely s.h.i.t keeper. How he gets an England place again astounds me. Foster and Pothas better keepers and equally good bats. And he's a cheat!!
  10. I've been doing it regularly. Including last night at Hayes. Haven't got a bath chair, so I limp to the seats in the stand. See you Saturday. If you need a chair, I have a mate who sells all kinds of disabled equipment. Tell everyone playing in the Forum Match.
  11. That run was 88-89. Chris was sacked at the end of 90-91.
  12. Sorry, Mr Git. I was referring to Eastleigh FC being Swaythling Athletic in disguise. As a self confessed oldie, I'm sure you remember.
  13. Bill is only on a 1 day contract, same as last year. Better get down there and give my old team mate some banter. Benham has had more chances than McGoldrick so this better be his season and not just when we are on the TV.
  14. No. The final is at the ground of the highest placed finalist. Hampton won 3-1 at Chelmsford last night and they were 2nd so the final should be at their "dump" (copywright D.Holley 2009) next Thursday. Its also live on Sultana.
  15. Swaythling is on fewer maps.
  16. At least its the F.A. and not Malwhingebag and the Norwich City director. Perhaps they will employ Forensic Hooligans to judge the aggro. Danny Dyer?
  17. Cue televised upset by plucky non-leaguers from a place not on the map?
  18. South is round by Wessex Lane. North is Stoneham Lane and its environs. In the thread we had some months ago, I told how my dear old would tell people we lived there, rather than admit to living in Swaythling.
  19. Just got back. Only the 2 late goals spoilt a bloody good evening. Even missed a pen @ 1-0. We just stood there grinning as the locals went beserk with the ref, their team, everyone! Their star forward got himself sent off for a headbutt @2-0 and we could have got 7 or 8. As it is, Hayes have got themselves back in it and Saturday could be a bit nervy like the recent Chelski/ Scouse match. Recommend people come along. If only to watch the veins in Bairdy's head.
  20. Crouch's interview on 5Live was on Thursday, after the 10 point deduction was imposed. As for Derby, may I be the 95th poster to point out that they didn't "get away" with the penalty as it didnt exist at that time.
  21. He was fouled by the renowned wife beater, Lee Chapman.
  22. Born and bred in Swaythling (North Stoneham if you remember a much earlier thread). I have been going to 10 Acres for several seasons and will be at Hayes tonight. However, due to a life-long dislike of all things Beastley, I still like to annoy my fellow fans by referring to them as Swaythling or Athletic. Not quite up ther with Stu, but then I would have had N. Baddesley steralised years ago.
