  1. Set targets which are realistic for the people involved it is no good giving targets which cannot be met otherwise people get turned off. Give targets which can be achieved and give incentives for targets to be over achieved I think is the best approach seems to work in business
  2. I am sorry for my flipant comment but I just feel that peoples expectations are too high which leads to disappointment. Whether it impacted on the players I dont know but we did have decent players but not outstanding which is the difference. Our Promotion teams in both 1966 and 1978 did have outstanding players
  3. Not really we got to the playoffs which I thought was OK We played pretty well in the Play Off Games and with a bit of luck we could have won. If Davis had played as well as did last season I think we may have gone up because I felt Bart was responsible for one of the goals at St Mary's through a lack of experience However after that he should have sorted out the defence instead of bringing in John and Euell I know John scored lots of goals but so might Rasiak/Saga if they were given chances
  4. Thank you that really made me laugh
  5. I think it was a well respected Academy and has a good record with producing players and winning matches. But you are right people put spin on it and the next thing we are the best in the land but Probably the best on the South Coast
  6. Because we were not good enough for Automatic Promotion I would have thought. Perhaps you should be realistic in your expectations to avoid continual disappointment
  7. Although I agree with what you are saying it is not unknown for teams to buy players to make the team better as we now have no payments on the Stadium there should be a surplus for players
  8. Confused and Anxious not doing very well today:D
  9. Yes so Wotte
  10. Yes a use of words can you have an ambition which you cannot control I would like to see Southampton FC in CCC but it is not an ambition Pardew however may have an ambition to see Southampton FC in the CCC
  11. Some probably are I would have thought
  12. There are so many fans with different ambitions some are high some are not. Mine are low after four years of utter dross a few wins will do at the moment
  13. I dont disagree with what you are saying but as no one from the club has said what there plans are the only thing I have picked up is the Pardew hopes to be mid table by Xmas which would be pretty good considering our current situation
  14. Who said that I thought the plan was to see how we were doing at Xmas and go on from there. With a new team and points deduction it is not going to be easy to forecast how we will do
  15. Dont know dont care just please where we are today. Just glad we are not in CCC with Lowe in charge and relegation likely
  16. What is the point of what?
  17. Pardew has only been here four days so give him a chance You know the team better than him he is trying to work out which positions he needs new players for
  18. What is the point of being ambitious if there is little substance behind the ambition. Every supporter want their team to succeed but most realise it wont happen on a regular basis
  19. Fans want instant succes there is some poster from Bournemouth on another thread complaining that Pardew is too slow in sorting out the team. Pardew has been here how long four days perhaps?
  20. You do seem to be a little impatient I suggest that you relax and let Alan Pardew deliver the goods.
  21. Fast is not always the best approach. We have not lost all our warm up matches when the first team have been playing. In fact it has only been in the last quarter when reserve team players have been involved that we have lost some of the matches
  22. It was a crap footballing strategy but possibly not a crap financial one. The current strategy is based entirely on football and it is up to Pardew to make it work. If he had been here a month earlier I am sure we would be in a better position with a number of new players in place with the team in a more confident state of mind.
  23. Yes a strategy based on saving money nothing to do with football
  24. My take is slightly different JP was brought in because we could not afford to increase the wage bill and had experience of running teams with younger players. He would never have been employed as a convential CCC Manager. MW after Xmas saw the strategy was not working but it is not worth discussing any further as Pardew is here and seems to be doing a good job.
