  1. Steve has/had two brothers, one of them, Steve, unfortunately passed away about 15 years ago.
  2. Rupes should look at standing as MP for Elmet and Rothwell as the constituency includes Garforth where, I am sure, the voters will fully appreciate his ownership of the local football club along with Simon Clifford.
  3. We should be good enough to make the play offs unless we now fall apart, then it is anyone's chance to get promotion. However carry this form through to Liverpool and we could be in for a pasting
  4. I think Bristol is a decent size city just about big enough to have two teams to support but neither have any major honours to show which must rankle.
  5. The Cup Final win was a middle of the table 2nd Division (Ie now Championship team) versus a very decent Man Utd (Division ! team) There were decent odds available for Man Utd to win 6-0. Other 'big' Cup results were in the 1960's ie Third Division Saints winning 5-1 at 1st Division Man City and my favourite, mid table 2nd Division Saints beating 1st Division 5-0 in a second replay at White Hart Lane in front of an estimated 30,000 Saints fans after a 1-1 draw at the City Ground and coming back from 3-0 down with 12 minutes left to play in the replay at The Dell to draw 3-3.
  6. Last time I went to watch Saints at Anfield it was a 1-1 draw with Mane scoring our goal. I guess the away end has now been completely remodelled as a consequence of the new stand behind the goal. Anyone got an idea of the views from the different tiers?
  7. I wonder if the Watford Manager would be more likely to risk playing a full strength team bearing in mind that whilst Watford are 3 points outside the playoffs they probably are less concerned about injuries to key players than we are and possibly look at the potential 45% share of a £1m plus gate revenue at Anfield as a nice earner #.
  8. According to an article on the BBC website relating to Chelsea's financial challenges, there is a suggestion that the club received £22.4m for Tino. Presumably this figure consists of the original transfer fee paid by Saints (£10m-£15m) plus a proportion of the reported £40m sale to Newcastle. This would leave Saints with a net benefit of £17.6m. Puts a bit of a different slant on the financial benefit to the club, if correct.
  9. Is it correct to assume that the Horizon system was installed in Crown Post Offices as well as Sub Post Offices? If so, were there problems with (much bigger) end of day balances and, assuming this was the case, were there any prosecutions involving those in charge at Crown Post Offices?
  10. I am sorry to lose Charlie but think he showed more promise in the Prem than he has done this season a League below. If he does thrive at Juventus the expected transfer fee seems to provide the club with a decent return on the initial investment. I am more uplifted by the arrival of David Brooks than and disappointment in losing Charlie. Hopefully my view of the situation does prove to be misguided. What I am disappointed about is the lack of a central striker who can convert some of the high crosses into the opponents penalty area which our wide players provide.
  11. As some one who has watched the Saints for a much longer period than the vast majority on here, I would rank Le Tizz at the top of the pile, probably only matched by Mick Channon. Terry Paine and Ron Davies had a similar positive effect on the club with the likes of Keegan, Shilton, Van Dijk also very highly rated but without the long term benefit to the club.
  12. One thing that Brookes will bring is a decent left foot to add a different dimension up front. Cup tied unfortunately.
  13. If Benson does come, the squad could look like this assuming all fit and Aribo back from the African Nations. Keeper BAZUNU Lumley McCarthy Right Back KWP Bree (Stephens/Holgate) Left Back MANNING (Bree) (KWP/Meghoma) Centre Back BEDNAREK Stephens (Holgate/Charles) Centre Back THB (Stephens/Holgate/Charles) Defensive Mid DOWNES Charles Attacking Mid SMALLBONE Aribo/Rothwell Attacking Mid SARMA Alcarez/Dibling Wide Right ARMA Sulemana/Edozie/SAA Central Striker ADAMS Mara/Arma Wide Left FRASER Benson/(Sulemana/Edozie) So based on the above there are potentially 27 players in the squad with reasonable cover in most positions apart from Central Striker but I guess most of us on here would agree with that comment.
  14. And Fox News/Newsmax plus Truth Social
  15. Thank you. Looking at the cost of stadia nowadays puts our £32m cost for a 32k capacity new build into some sort of perspective. Of course building costs have increased significantly in the last 20 years but I dont think the club actually paid the full amount as we went into admin owing Aviva a chunk of money as I recollect. I guess this is one of the few deals that Rupert Lowe did that actually helped the club.
  16. Christophe, Hope you dont mind answering the questions below. Really interested to see how your stadium move compared to ours. What was the capacity of the old stadium? Did the attendance figures increase at the impressive new stadium? Who paid for the construction? How much was the cost?
  17. Apparently although Valenciennes have a nice new 25,000 capacity stadium, the average home crowd is 6,500.
  18. Presumably the following players are injured? Bree Edioze Suliemane Doyle Larios Simeu Edwards Ballard
  19. Bet that story doesnt get reported in the Express/Mail or Telegraph and no coverage on GB News
  20. Apparently Holgate is on £70k pw at Everton and we are paying 50% of his wages. Compare this with the reported £20k a week ceiling for most of the Championship sides
  21. According to my mate in Blackburn Rothwell is quick, good on the ball which he carries well but easily disheartened and poor defensively.
  22. Larios?
  23. Last time I went to Loftus Road Terry Curran got sent off. I also watched France & Uruguay draw 0-0 in a 1966 World |Cup Group Stage at the old White City Stadium where QPR decamped for a while
  24. I am enjoying us winning more than losing but, of course, if we dont go up our decent players will fade away and we will probably end up as nondescript members of the Championship lie the rest of ex Prem sides which are having to make do with limited finances.
  25. KWP is my favourite player. Thought he was very good in the Prem but absolutely top class in our current position. All that said, if I was running the club I would contemplate letting him leave... a) if a very good offer came in... b) if he wanted to go...and c) if the transfer fee was invested in a good left back and a better striker than we have at the moment. I say this because KWP's value will decrease as he nears a contract renewal and if we dont go up this season, the club will have to further reduce wages as the parachute payments fall away and KWP (and his agent) know he can earn a lot more in the Prem, especially as he has not been one of our top earners anyway.
