  1. Christophe, What's with the Union Jacks and the cross of St George flags?
  2. I agree with those on here who reckon Martin is too stubborn and refuses to re-assess his Russball type of play. Unfortunately this scenario reflects what Swansea fans said when Martin came to us. I cant see us winning promotion through the play offs and we will have a weaker side next season unless there are some inspired signings, which are likely to be loans as the Board has already mentioned there is little spare cash to delve into the market place. Russell Martin will continue to be employed as the club cannot afford to pay another expensive compensation package for a sacked Manager. Next season the club is likely to be around mid table withe the possibility of another venture into the Play Offs or, at worst, a flirtation with relegation. If Martin is able to get the team to do the double over Pompey as he did with Swansea over Cardiff, at least he will get some kudos.
  3. Yup, all seems to be going to plan for The Donald and his family on the Truth Social Share offer. He is now looking to sue a couple of his business partners for not doing what he told them to do. All great fun!!
  4. Agree with you. It was a very good advert for the Championship. If Bednerak's header had gone in we would have won and deservedly so. Not sure what the constant criticism of Bazunu is all about. The only thing I think he did wrong was wallop the ball forward in the last minute which went directly to their keeper who then recycled forward. Just goes to show that direct football beats obsession with possession.
  5. Throughout the season I have noticed that Ryan Manning seems to play as a third centre back when opponents play down our left hand side thereby leaving lots of room. On Friday this affliction seems to have been passed onto KWP and Boro's left back had acres of room on his side of the pitch. I imagine this must be a tactic that the Manager has inspired and perhaps is a consequence of only playing Downes and Smallbone in midfield. Interested in any views on this. It is such a shame that the tactic still remains to spend so much time faffing around with the ball in our own half rather than get the ball forward.
  6. ...and Middlesborough had 11 players out with the likes of midfielder Johnnie Howson playing at the back..
  7. Your hero Donald took his casinos public in 1996 and the company ended up bleeding cash before going bust and delisting in 2004. Although the deal provides Trump will a decent amount of cash it co-incides with a cash crunch from his civil trials. Although Trump cant technically sell his shares for at least 6 months, the Board of Directors, which includes his eldest son, could vote to allow his Dad to sell shares earlier than this. This is likely to create a very significant downward pressure on the share price. Meanwhile Truth Social made only $3.4m in sales in the first 9 months of 2023 and a net loss of $49m during the same period. It also faces huge pressure from Meta, Facebook and X. Still, I guess, this is nothing to deter his ardent supporters, like yourself, who continue to pile in. For many of us, of a more prudent disposition, this seems to reflect the 2021 meme-stock craze and who would be foolish to discount the many failed businesses the world's most 'successfully successful business man of all time' has been involved in.
  8. Has anyone been listening to the BBC Radio series about 'The Orange Ones' purchase of a golf course in Aberdeenshire? Sums him up nicely.
  9. Maybe its because a lot of talented youngsters from top clubs are loaned out to lower League clubs
  10. I think details may have been posted before but: First 7 games - Goals Conceded 19 (12 scored) W3 D1 L3 Next 27 games - " " 17 (52 scored) W17 D7 L2 Next 8 games - " " 18 (18 scored) W4 D- L4 Lets hope the system is tweaked to ensure a return to the mid season run of results but ensuring that any losses are not against Ipswich, Leicester or Leeds.
  11. I guess how successful we are depends on scouting decent players, bringing them in at a reasonable cost allowing for transfer fees and wages and integrating any decent youth teams players. We have had periods when this combination has been quite successful. However our big ticket purchases have generally been proved to be awful value for money.
  12. Wonder what was within the warehouse to produce such smoke. Looks like some sort of rubber or similar content.
  13. Aston Villa also reporting heavy lasses last year ie over £100m
  14. Years ago we were the only team to sing.. 'When the Saints'.. Nowadays there are supporters singing the song on behalf of a wide variety of teams. Some Spurs fans think they we are copying them which to some degree is true as they started singing the slower version.
  15. Just goes to show that if we did go up we would be battered every week. The only players that would be worth a start in the Prem in the current set up would be KWP (who may be out injured on Saturday), Bednerak (although he struggled a bit last time round in the Prem) THB, possibly Edioze and Aribo (as a squad players) and that's it. Smallbone, Manning, Mara, Adams, Arma, Sulemana, not good enough. Charles is relatively young but has not developed so far. With decent strikers we could have had a comfortable lead by half time although giving away two poor goals may not have been enough.
  16. Has there been a report on here about him signing on a loan deal from Porto? 17 year old midfield prospect apparently.
  17. Anyone know if this is a sell out based on the fact that it is on TV?
  18. But to be fair, Hull played out from the back but they did so far better than us. They mad a couple of mistakes one of which should have been punished by Rothwell. Hull's forwards really but pressure on our back line and that caused the second goal and nearly one or two others.
  19. Put firmly in our place by a very good Hull side who could have won by a wider margin. Their Manager had his tactics spot on and were able to play out from the back far more comfortably than we were able to do. Apart from KWP, Bednerak and Taylor - Bellis with a decent cameo by Aribo and to a lesser extent Fraser and Brooks, the likes of Rothwell (who missed a very good chance and lost the ball for the second goal), Mara, Smallbone the two Armstrongs, Manning etc were poor. We should be OK for the Play Offs but playing Hull and Ipswich there is likely to be challenging if we play like we did tonight.
  20. Most WHU fans reckoned JWP was one of their best players and a steal at £30m at the start of the season. Cant blame him entirely for their recent poor form. Perhaps we could buy him back at a cut price £10m next season if we go up.
  21. Steve has/had two brothers, one of them, Steve, unfortunately passed away about 15 years ago.
  22. Rupes should look at standing as MP for Elmet and Rothwell as the constituency includes Garforth where, I am sure, the voters will fully appreciate his ownership of the local football club along with Simon Clifford.
  23. We should be good enough to make the play offs unless we now fall apart, then it is anyone's chance to get promotion. However carry this form through to Liverpool and we could be in for a pasting
  24. I think Bristol is a decent size city just about big enough to have two teams to support but neither have any major honours to show which must rankle.
  25. The Cup Final win was a middle of the table 2nd Division (Ie now Championship team) versus a very decent Man Utd (Division ! team) There were decent odds available for Man Utd to win 6-0. Other 'big' Cup results were in the 1960's ie Third Division Saints winning 5-1 at 1st Division Man City and my favourite, mid table 2nd Division Saints beating 1st Division 5-0 in a second replay at White Hart Lane in front of an estimated 30,000 Saints fans after a 1-1 draw at the City Ground and coming back from 3-0 down with 12 minutes left to play in the replay at The Dell to draw 3-3.
