This is the advertised pub: Larwood and Voce Tavern The pub is a real away fans haven, and is highly recommended for any travelling fan. Situated only a few hundred yards away from the Bridgford Stand where the away fans are situated, this pub offers excellent food, a big screen TV, and above all a warm welcome for away fans. The pub itself adjoins the cricket ground. To find the pub from the ground, turn right off Radcliffe Road, near the pedestrian crossing, into Fox Road, and the pub is approx 100 yards along of the right hand side. BUT I''ve just rang them up and they no longer allow away supporters. The landlord said he thinks there's a pub called "Travellers" which is near Notts Countys ground that serves away fans.

On the OS the list of those donating £1000 or more is: Leon Crouch Mike Richards Tom Scott Guy Askham Charles Perkins The Gordon family Tony Askham Badai UK LTD M Warwick Cedar Group Mr J Griffin Mike and Margaret Young I've got to say it's good see the Askhams name there. I'm no fan of Guy Askham but at least he's put his hand in his pocket unlike Lowe and Wilde. Say what you like about him but he didn't have to donate. This Tom Scott fella is an interesting one.... http://www.thisisguernsey.com/2009/01/06/businessmen-offer-states-multi-million-cash-lifeline/

That's a private matter. Back to the thread. I'm not far from Notts and know my way round pretty well. If you're driving in the best way is to turn off the M1 at J24. Follow the A453 to Clifton Boulevard (A52). Go straight over following the B679 (towards west bridgeford), poodle along down there and join the A60 and you're there (this is the road that goes over Trent bridge). Forest is this side of Trent Bridge, Notts County is the other side.

Commodities... Get your money on silver as it's way undervalued in my opinion. I've been doing some research and i forecast it'll hit $100+ per troy ounce by spring 2010, but as during the 1980 "spike" it'll fall back down quickly with every granny in the world seeing a house deposit sat behind glass in their living rooms. So when it spikes sell sell sell and don't get greedy. This is not a safe investment and silver is notorious for never living up to expectations, but i have a feeling in my water it'll spike soon. The graph above shows the silver graph with inflation factored in. It's currently about $13 per troy ounce, in 1980 it was $250 in todays terms.

I used to say the same thing when i travelled down every other week. You are a better fan than most doing what you do and having done it myself i know how expensive and life controlling the comitment is. I'd never go back to doing it again mainly due to the long drive up and down the A43/A34.

Fair enough Ron. Let's just hope it's not needed as a worst case back-up as the cumulative total of pledges will not be enough IMO. As a publicity stunt though i suppose it does have some merits...

GM you know far more about business than me, that goes without saying, but speaking with Forest fans i know they say the same thing as me about PLC's in football - they are a recipe for disater. Of course i'd have loved us to be bought out fully without admin, but it was never going to happen after the braindead decision to turn down SISU. It's been crystal clear since then that Admin was inevitable sooner or later and it's then that we'd be taken over. LET ME REPEAT - ADMIN WAS INEVITABLE after Wildes spending spree. Better gates are needed and it'd be nice to avoid the 10 point penalty (i can't see us not getting points deducted if i'm honest (but i hope i'm wrong)) but when the dust has settled and we more than likely find ourselves in League 1 we'll be in a position to start looking forward. I'm under no illusions that we won't struggle in league 1 (and may get relegated if we get deducted 10 points for that season), but i reckon even with a 10 point penalty we can survive. On this basis i see us rising up in season 2010/11. But make no mistake the collapse of the PLC and removal of Lowe and Wilde will ultimately be seen as the turning point when we look back in years to come.
-
I'm confident too that we'll be bought out. Not so confident about the 10 point penalty mind. I've said it before and i'll say it again - the current situation, i.e the death of the PLC, is the best thing that could've happened to Saints. We've hit rock bottom and the only way is up. Yeah we might go down and yeah we might get a 10 point penalty, but in the medium to long term it's for the best.

Where's the "nothing" option? I put £10 into the Saints Trust once before and i'd never make that mistake again.
-
Ha Ha, you got it. I'm sitting with a Forest supporting mate in their mainstand. If we win to stay up i'm gonna struggle to come out alive methinks.
-
Sorry, but LOL.
-
I already have tickets for this and i'm not a member or a season ticket holder. It's not what you know, it's who you know.
-
I can think of nothing worse (bar the return of Lowe & Wilde) than Saints being run by fans - particluarly if the Saints Trust had any involvement. Thankfully it'll never happen.
-
I wouldn't put anything in the bucket. If the collection was for the Ted Bates statue i would, if the collection was for a worthy charity like the British Legion i would, but put money in a bucket for a failed PLC - no way. These "peanuts" gestures are pointless. Putting £1, £5, £20 in the bucket is like lobbing a penny down Oxford Street - it's just a daft thing to do and throwing your money away. By all means give if you want to to but it'll make next to no difference. This isn't a village football team needing £1000 to install a new urinal, this is a multimillion pound business that's broke. The future of SFC is out of all of our hands and all we can do is attend and show potential investors that the fanbase is there.

Take them to a lawnmower repairer or wait for a gypo to call round with a sharpening machine. Or perhaps use a file?

I wonder if the administrators will let him take the picture of the train as a momento of his time here.

You have one! Now that must be a collectors item. Put it on ebay and advertise the link on here.

From what i've read things will move quickly now with a decision made as early as tomorrow.

I'm working, i don't think i could get the time off now due to a few on the sick, and it's double time which i can't afford to turn my nose up at.
