  1. Well from what I can gather a major terrorist incident was avoided there because the girls only jihadist brigade kinda sucked at the practical aspects of being terrorists; they had 6 big gas bottles and 3 jerrycans of petrol but couldn't work out how to ignite the petrol and thus set off the gas bottle explosion without getting their hands dirty. The car was there where it shouldn't have been for 2 hours before anyone in authority did anything about it and the women just couldn't set it alight.
  2. Because they're football fans and don't really give a toss about how much a supposed billionaire has left in her purse. Anyway the writing has been on the wall for a few seasons now, an "if it's saleable sell it policy" and bugger the consequences. It's early days yet so we'll have to see what comes to pass for the rest of the season.
  3. This is of course why he wanted to go to Spurs again this summer and was prevented from doing so by Mourinho because he might want to play him one day or the other and didn't want to lose face by having to reinstate Schweinsteiger if shove came to push. With Utd out of the CL Morgan has taken a 25% pay cut this season along with most of the others except Rooney and Schweinsteiger and is probably on just a few quid more than he could have got at Saints.
  4. Mané, Pelle and Koeman didn't want to be kept, it really is as straightforward as that. We have kept just one player against his wishes in the last few years and it has resulted in an eventual move that has totally destroyed his career for the time being at least. if he had gone to Tottenham when he wanted he'd not be in the doldrums today. This is a lesson to every player, move when you get a chance if you want to go wherever it is and let the club sort themselves out with it.
  5. Surely going down the league table is a new direction for us in this incarnation.
  6. We wuz robbed.
  7. Looks like there's some good batting from Ervine (again) and McClaren this morning, not to mention Alsop's maiden( ? ) first class ton yesterday. With Warks losing badly already it looks like we may just be going for it here. Of course bowling Surrey out again in time may not be so easy. Still at worst we'll probably be about 8 points behind Warks going into the last round of games in 10 days time or so.
  8. Well I was far too busy being a hedonistic postgraduate student to remember a whole lot about that era but I doubt that thin air trading and what might happen in darkest africa in 20 years time were factors that affected the stock exchange at that time. If I recall at all correctly shares concerned entities that actually produced something and everybody else bought government bonds for the 4% or so annual interest. Do they still sell premium bonds nowadays ?
  9. Well at a guess I'd suggest that a succession of farkwit labour governments had a fair bit to do with our decline in the late 60s. Didn't we have to go begging to the IMF for a bail-out in that period?
  10. Then be like me and not give a toss about either Bournemouth or Jack Wheelchair.
  11. I have no idea, perhaps there's less money than some like to think. We'll have to wait and see what the accounts say come springtime.
  12. Virtually all of the players have performed well at sometime this season. Trouble is they rarely all perform well at the same time. Take this last match, not bad on the bowling front apart from the 50 or so put on by their last wicket pair. All we needed was some decent batting but all failed apart from Ervine and Vincent, although we probably needed a 100 or so from Vince yesterday. Now the bowling is looking average again so we'll be looking at a big total on the last day. Consistency is what's lacking really this season.
  13. Vince did well, so did Ervine, the rest of them have left us in a bit of a sticky situation at 210/7, especially as we were 198/4 at one point. Catastrophic collapse then, last 6 wickets lost for about 23 runs..
  14. Is Watson still the England goalkeeping coach ?
  15. 17/2 so far so it's time for Vince to step up isn't it..
  16. They'll need to get their skates on then. Anyway with the fees I see being bandied about for some pretty average players I can't help feeling that those who've done their business already will be the winners.
  17. Ah but that's a different box of cats.
  18. Heisenberg.... He of the uncertainty principle.
  19. If the big 5 start farming out on loan all of their players for whom they have no immediate role, the transfer market will collapse under the weight.
  20. 17 million euros that is, still too much no doubt.
  21. Well getting himself picked for the last WC when he was obviously still half crocked and with just half a game in about 18 months wasn't bad as playing blinders actually goes. I have never seen what people think they see in the bloke, he's just too thick to exist really.
  22. Because we don't need him, let someone else take the waste of space.
  23. That's because a company has, in theory, no right to impound your time with their affairs. Obviously there are plenty who do work in their own time but it's illegal for your employer to impede on you in after hours.
  24. Pickford's still done pretty well today though.
