And I quote: "Last night the manager messed up big time. His rotation obsession with three games coming up provided a compromise team against" etc The formation is as maybe but basically we don't have a good enough squad to be any better than we actually are.
-
I really don't understand these "rotation" criticisms. Who wasn't on the field last night that is better than any of the players who were. Forster..Number 1 keeper. Cedric,Fonte,VvD,Bernard..usual back 4. Davis, Romeu our two best midfielders, maybe JwP is questionable but is Hojberg really any better? Clasie being injured. Then we have JRod, Redmond and Boufal...who else is there really? Offside and serial fouler Long? Questionable.

We're 8th in the PL and we have a mid-table side, you know one composed of mid-table players. There's nothing to be changed in that by sacking Puel. If we want a top 6 side then we need to get some more top 6 players and pay them Top 6 salaries. It really is basic. We need a better AM, a better DM and a top notch striker, when we've got all of that we'll see about Puel's future.
-
Which is exactly as I said it would be. The day of 4ft 6 squirts like Ball and Scholes in DM is long gone. What they lacked in stature was made up with aggressivity which would today ensure they'd see red after 10 or 15 minutes.
-
No Hojberg then, thought he was supposed to be the bee's bolleaux.
-
Chelsea spent over 130million last summer. When we can do that perhaps we'll have "better coaching" as well. Top 6 are also buying players they don't really need again, keeps them off the market and boosts prices to levels they only can afford.
-
Well I thought what we've seen in this last round of games is that the top 6 have rebecome the top 6. For a season or so the hierarchy wobbled a bit as lesser clubs found gems from elsewhere with their improved budgets. Then the top sides just moved up a gear, changed the "standard" fee for a middling top player to north of 30 million instead of a bit less than 20 million, boosted the base salary to over 5 million a year and the operation was achieved.
-
Ah well got tonked in the end, could have been 6 though. Too many shortasses in midfield.
-
Hmm Harry Kane all on his tod at a set piece, recipe for disaster.
-
Ah there you'd have the popular vote against house seats stuff all over again. For instance all Scottish Nat MP would be anti brexit but not all of Scotland's population would be. Same as Trump vs California and New York.

6.5 million is about the price of a PL tea lady in our day and age.
-
Thanks for the info, thought my old brain was playing tricks on me when I seemed to recollect there being some sort of stop just before Southampton Terminus.
-
Wouldn't have thought there was a station between St Denys and Southampton Terminus in your lifetime, unless of course you were already up and about in the 1840s. You probably mean the old Terminus which can't be much closer than St Denys really. How far would St Denys be from SMS ,about a mile or so?

So, over 6 months on and from the outside it all looks to have not advanced one iota. I can't help thinking that if Cameron had felt able to stay on and see the job through then it might be a bit more orderly. For me personally it has already cost over 3000€ and they didn't even let us long time expats vote.

about once a week for the last 15 years or so.
-
Even those salaries are a bit over the top, not much 1£=1.17€. Lemar? Hottest thing since sliced baguette just now (probably won't be next week or next month though, it changes pretty quickly) so no chance whatsoever of him signing for Saints.
-
And don't forget to put on the dunce's cap.
-
He never was so it always has been.
-
What can you expect with the idiotic managerial choice that they made. There were experienced managers available and they chose someone from the MLS or similar.Anyway Sunderland Hull and Swansea are all as good as down and everyone else not interested above midtable can coast through the rest of the season.
-
All teams should play on Boxing Day. Mind you watching City ponce about on the edge of Hull's box really isn't an advertisment for football.
-
I'd think we have more than enough midfielders anyway. This one is probably no better or no worse than those we have already. Ligue 1 is a bit of a substandard affair anyway. Even serial failures like Balotelli and Falcao look good in it. Look at that bloke Sunderland bought from Bordeaux last winter, Wabi Khazri or something...what's he done since?
-
Well from where he is actually I'd think that playing for a manager he knows is probably more significant than the manager's nationality. Needs to play in some sort of system that suits him to rebuild the confidence that he's evidently lost.
-
Well it all started with the end of the 3 game Easter. Friday, Saturday, Monday. Then again players drank 6 pints and smoked 40 a day without the popular press batting an eyelid back then.;)
-
They only bought Sissoko when José put the mockers on Morgan going there last summer by some accounts. Sissoko isn't a Pochettino type player, they might even try to offload him already.
-
Seriously doubt if he earns that much anyway. About 90K a week'ish would be a closer estimate and that's all in. Do not forget that the majority of Utd's players took a 25% no ECL hit this season. Not many didn't because it was apparently a standard Utd contract thing. Perhaps Rooney and maybe Schweinsteiger would be exceptions. Then there's all the bits and bobs that you don't get when you don't play. For example Football Leaks turned up that Lloris gets 8000 for a win, 6000 for a draw and 4000 for a loss, come what may unless of course he doesn't play.. To speak of a footballer's salary as so much a week is just misleading in my opinion. If Morgan goes to Everton he'll probably be on something like 5 million a year if they do well and 4 million if they don't.
