For the really oldies it's even easier. Goalkeepers didn't usually have a number but let it go at 1 anyway. 2+3 full backs, 4, 5 and 6 halfbacks, right, centre and left , 7-11 forwards from outside right to outside left in that order. Then people had to start with midfield schemers and two centre backs to totally confuse the affair.

And with Berg having a seemingly good day with the ball it bodes well for Hampshire. Might even qualify for the knock-out stage yet. Depends on the other results I guess. -
But the first goal was a fair while coming and even then it was a wild deflection of an off target shot. Seemed to boost our confidence and totally destroy Sunderland's.

I don't doubt that once we get our real players back into action we'll look far less "clueless". It's wannabee run out time and our actual side won't look much like that which plays in these build up games.
-
We're still missing a few significant players though. Expect to see something more like our first XI on Wednesday. Can't really understand why we've given Davis and Bertrand so much time off, or at least so much time before paticipating in build up games. Neither of them went very far in the Euro and Long is back playing already, seems a bit unequal.

I thought Gronigen look a fair bit better than any of the other sides we've played so far, at least it's a game that you can watch without being bored to tears.

Well no, but he sells a lot of shirts so Under Armour might be interested in that. -

So a big win for Hants to end what has probably been our most ignominious T20 campaign since the start of the format. -

If they've got sponsorship and gear sales money burning a hole in their pocket why not. Isn't the maximum football player contract length 5 years or have they changed that as well. -

Ridiculous suggestion, Bayern profitted from Van Gaal's stupidity to offload Schweini onto Utd. He is finished as a serious footballer, slows everything down to his level. China or MLS beckons. -

No it isn't totally banned in France, but audiovisuel media alcohol advertising is. You can advertise alcohol in printed images like magazines or hoardings but they must always contain the phrase " L'abus d'alcohol est dangereux pour la santé". Sporting and cultural events sponsored by alcohol companies are not permitted. They can however donate funds for no publicité in return. -
Well I see that US and Eurozone economic growth in the second quarter are both disappointingly low, particularly in France where there was no growth at all. Must be the fault of brexit right, even if it was only voted 7 days before the end of that quarter.

Well a 190K£ (or so they say) a week 31 year old who's become a bit of sick note isn't the same as your standard heavy duty 50K a week 31 year old is he. From what I've read here and there Man U never wanted to be burdened with Schweinsteiger, Van Gaal insisted on signing him anyway. Hindsight seems to prove that the right thing to do if Van Gaal was throwing his toys out of the pram over Schweini was to throw Van Gaal out as well. -

Well not these last 30 years or so anyway; When they had the benefits of Vernon's Pools money agogo and bought players just to keep them off the market, had no catholics playing for them etc things were different. When football was about your local lads against other local lads Everton were successful from time to time. -

I don't doubt that some of it at least comes from overexpectant illusions fuelled by excessive amounts of fantasy football. -

[quote=Saint Billy;2375826 I would have gone all out to get a up and coming manager ala Frank De Boer or similar. . Ah yes Frank de Boer... Tell me, has he actually got a job somewhere, I see him as a favourite for a lot of jobs but actually getting one of them seems to be a bit more complex. Perhaps he's too demanding in conditions of employment or something. -
He's probably a big coefficient player on fantasy football.
