  1. Ridiculous suggestion, Bayern profitted from Van Gaal's stupidity to offload Schweini onto Utd. He is finished as a serious footballer, slows everything down to his level. China or MLS beckons.
  2. No it isn't totally banned in France, but audiovisuel media alcohol advertising is. You can advertise alcohol in printed images like magazines or hoardings but they must always contain the phrase " L'abus d'alcohol est dangereux pour la santé". Sporting and cultural events sponsored by alcohol companies are not permitted. They can however donate funds for no publicité in return.
  3. Well I see that US and Eurozone economic growth in the second quarter are both disappointingly low, particularly in France where there was no growth at all. Must be the fault of brexit right, even if it was only voted 7 days before the end of that quarter.
  4. he could do a job for us...
  5. Well a 190K£ (or so they say) a week 31 year old who's become a bit of sick note isn't the same as your standard heavy duty 50K a week 31 year old is he. From what I've read here and there Man U never wanted to be burdened with Schweinsteiger, Van Gaal insisted on signing him anyway. Hindsight seems to prove that the right thing to do if Van Gaal was throwing his toys out of the pram over Schweini was to throw Van Gaal out as well.
  6. Well not these last 30 years or so anyway; When they had the benefits of Vernon's Pools money agogo and bought players just to keep them off the market, had no catholics playing for them etc things were different. When football was about your local lads against other local lads Everton were successful from time to time.
  7. I strongly suspect that we'll be nearer to none of them than all three.
  8. I don't doubt that some of it at least comes from overexpectant illusions fuelled by excessive amounts of fantasy football.
  9. [quote=Saint Billy;2375826 I would have gone all out to get a up and coming manager ala Frank De Boer or similar. . Ah yes Frank de Boer... Tell me, has he actually got a job somewhere, I see him as a favourite for a lot of jobs but actually getting one of them seems to be a bit more complex. Perhaps he's too demanding in conditions of employment or something.
  10. He's probably a big coefficient player on fantasy football.
  11. Can McQueen actually play at left wing back ?
  12. Summer isn't over yet though is it. We'll see where we stand at the start of the season and two weeks beyond.
  13. Arsenal are always looking but very rarely actually doing.
  14. Well I'm not an expert on middle eastern affairs but I'd really doubt that Saudi and Iran both support Assad because they're arch enemies, two ends of a spectrum. I know that Iran supports Assad so I'd doubt that Saudi does as well.
  15. So it looks like we're going for the treble this season then. Out of the 2 one day competitions at the group or round robin stage and relegation...Yay, go Hampshire.
  16. Although it would seem to me that a few "top targets" don't seem particularly interested in joining the rigourous affray of English football.
  17. Ah right, I am not a connaisseur of 19th century dugout technology.
  18. But wasn't the late signing of VVD something to do with Celtic's CL campaign, we had to wait until it was over to get our target. Perhaps we're targetting CL minnows again this season, perhaps we're signing someone from Lincoln Red Imps at this very moment. In fact if Valère Germain is a serious prospect, and I'd certainly hope that not to be the case, perhaps we have to wait and see what happens in the Monaco-Fenebahce tie.
  19. Wasn't he a loanee ? perhaps we just couldn't afford him.
  20. Why would top players be interested in Everton...seriously. I mean if they bought a whole team of really good players then they might have a chance of doing something but if Stekelenburg is to be their number 1 keeper then it shows their level really.
  21. Looks like another defeat again today, solid start, lost a couple of wickets, some quick runs from Wheater, Ervine and Dawson but they all went pretty quickly, 2 of them caught by the same bloke, off the same bowler in the same over. Does that mean they both played the same risky or unmastered shot? Anyway at 171/6 off 37 overs we'll do well to bat out our 50 and at least give the bowlers something to bowl at.
  22. plenty of them still seem to be knocking up young women though, à la Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood.
  23. What's the Southampton Marathon route going to be then? Is it as before? Oh the joys of Burgess Road after 20 odd miles. So mid/end of April'ish, they might persaude me to take up the halter again actually.
  24. Why on earth would we any Ayews honestly. they're not really anything very special and will be off to the ACON with Ghana in a while. They're average footballers and we don't need any more of those. Their dad was a great player but they're both pretty meh..
