  1. I find winning very entertaining,sad huh!!
  2. As long as we win, therein lies the rub.Last season we were playing a lot of very mediocre players way way over the odds to err not win on a regular basis. Lowe covered this in one of his statements. He said paying players substantially over the average salary is OK-as long as they deliver, when they don't the problem has to be dealt with. This is the nub of the affair, when the figures come out you will see that our wage bill was probably at least the third highest in the CCC,probably above that even,we narrowly avoided relegation. Burley was probably one of the highest paid managers,Lowe appointed him as head coach, never made him manager-Wilde,Crouch,Corbett and McMenemy did that, they probably spiked his salary as well. A lot of money went out of the door for very little result ,that's the nub of the problem.I don't care who plays-as long as the end justifies the means, and that doesn't mean scraping out of relegation on the last day because another team lost, even though you have an annual player+coach salary mass approaching 12.5 million pounds.
  3. Do we need a new parking attendant then?
  4. Aha but that's yer average Brit abroad I'm afraid. I was lunching with a client in Paris the other day, some sharp suited ***t from Essex (couldn't be anywhere else) was insisting that the waiter brought him a bottle of cold Bojolis.
  5. You sound a bit peeved Phil, piissed off with the continual supply of holiday hunks nailing all the easy lays are you?? You lads still have it good though. When I was working in Kuwait donkey's year ago there was no booze, let alone women. We got piissed on an awful concoction made by fermenting grapefruit juice, ebven then it was better than Coca Cola, can't see how people can drink that stuff. No sooner did a few little illicit parties start up,a silly bint fell off a balcony and they were cracked down on.
  6. I'm not sure that Skacel (for whatever reason) plays any part in Jan's plans at the moment, otherwise he'd have been at least on the bench yesterday. It's a mystery, he should be playing but he ain't-why? who the fook knows, attitude, money, doesn't want to, does want to but no-one else wants him to? take your pick.
  7. Gasmi should be starting to train again in a couple of weeks, he's a pocket battleship, really strong and quick with it.Pity he'll not be ready for first team action for at least another month.
  8. I thought it was a creditable results as well, withstood a lot of pressure, fought back, didn't cave in at the end. A few of the lads will come out better and stronger players for that (I hope),a point from a tough game like that will probably do more good on the mental plan than thumping some League 2 side or other 5-0 (doesn't stop us beating Rotherham 5-0 though just to see).
  9. Don't be such a nervous nelly.
  10. So could most of the internet supporters it would seem.
  11. Not Rupert then
  12. Holmes or Skacel
  13. are you sure about that? I thought he was one of the "brave new world" signings.
  14. No probably not actually. As long as he turns up for training, plays when asked to I doubt if ''lack of effort" could be seen as a cause for unilateral contract rupture. We idiotically gave Skacel a 4 year contract, probably longer than he's ever played anywhere in the past. He seems to be easily destabilised, look at the number of clubs he"s had in a relatively short career.Whoever was responsible for that contract should indemnise us cos we're stuck with the fooker.
  15. Well there was the brief era of Sperring's Solent Stars, meteoric rise in the constrained world of English basketball and a meteoric fall as well.
  16. What and knock down someone's allotment shed?,won't happen in our lifetime. Little England rules OK. If little england didn't rule we'd have been playing in a sensibly budgeted 30K styadium at Stoneham for donkey's year; might not be in the financial mire because of & 28 million quid mortgage at St Mary's, but then that might have displeased 2 grannies and a pekinese dog.
  17. I suppose it takes about 9000 supporters per game to cover the mortgage repayments and interest. That leaves about 9000 to pay for everything else. St Mary's is millstone, built for premiership football after 20 odd years of being in the top flight it will continue to drag us down for a long while yet. Imagine if we had those extra 3 millions a year at our disposal, perhaps we could actually keep some of the better players our much vaunted academy produces.Trouble is without premiership football not only have attendances dropped away alarmingly but the average ticket price has too. Can't be much better than 16 quid now,and then there's VAT.
  18. Well as I see it (and I could very well be wrong in my opinion) he posted half-facts and let himself be led into taking sides. Not saying it was wrong but someone did warn him at the time that he was probably being led up the garden path very astuciously and that he should probably rein in his enthusiasm for the Crouch cause. Not saying that he was wrong to be optimistic about what he thought were reflections on the true state of affairs. It would also seem to me that St Lee was warned about going down the same sort of track with the Allen situation.
  19. But Burley is so primordial in our demise that his role can never be overlooked, forgotten or forgiven. He is totally responsible for our situation today, leading on weak chairmen to invest vast sums in complete garbage(and then not playing it). The players of the time got us relegated by folding against Villa and bottling it at Nottarf, all the rest is down to Burley. The play offs? stand up Mr Glyn Snodin.
  20. Meanwhile another Friday has come and almost gone with zilch happening, my my ,what a surprise.Still Hampshire won, musn't grumble.
  21. Thought you would have heard that Sheik Mohammed has got fed up with waiting for DIC to act and is going it alone, strange that isn't written on the bullfrog coasters down that way, everybody else knows it, apart from Sheikl Mohammed apparently that is.
  22. You mean the new Robert Ludlum bestseller?
  23. Probably not, I told you it's probably just those that thought they were taking over selling up. I'm sure that if you could look back at February trades there would be very similar quantites. Either that or the Dye inheritance is being cashed up.Did you notice that the price went up and then down?
  24. Nicolas Anelka's brother always says the same sort of thing. When he says it you can be sure that he'll be moving on in a week or so.
  25. From what I remember from the last time I was there, they'll probably pay you for the privilege.
