Doubt it, they're probably building up a few unknowns from Brazil and Argentina at this very moment. These will be "signed" in the January transfer window after long protracted negociations and will-he-won't he meanderings. They will them be paraded at Bernabeu with shirts (which fans will rush out to buy even if they've already 15 others in a box at the back of a cupboard) The said players will either then take 3 years to make the grade or sold to Blackburn in a years time. It's what they do, they create myths that people want to see, Beckham was pretty bad at Madrid,but......

Player trading & finances - a rough guide .
Window Cleaner replied to CHAPEL END CHARLIE's topic in The Saints
Don't know, not until we cut costs even more for sure. I think at 17/18 we can break even now but whether we can start repaying debts is something else. However one things for sure, we can't afford to take either of the on loan players back in January.18K per game would give us a gate revenue of about 7.5 million a season, plus a few cup games putting it up to about 8 million. Some commercial income and a bit of TV money may boost us to 10 million receipts. I think we have got our salary mass down to about 7 million a season now,so 3 million for the rest, we're on an even keel but still have debts. -
Aha, you've been to Butlins at Skegness as well then.:smt016:smt016:smt016

Surely 7Kx18£ makes about 126K per game. Well over a million a season. The difference is Lundekvam+II alone = well over a million as well The rest goes onto the plus side of the ledger. I don't think any of you quite understand just how much claus was taking out of the club for doing nothing. He apparently was one of the few players (with Pahars) that didnt get a 50% cut when we went down, their contracts being long term from about 2002 ish. He was certainly on 15 K a week, probably nearer 20. Clearing out Hoos and Hone will have dropped our expenditure by another 600K a year'ish. Lowe is only part time now. Burley 350K ish, how much do you think Jan gets, 60K perhaps, all these factors mean our cost cutting is vast.Just getting shot of Gorman and Dodd will put about another 100K a year in the kitty, plus we may have finished paying off Sturrock,Gray and Wigley now. -
If you look through the forum thread that I posted for you yesterday you will see it says 'Gasmi's loan will become effective at the end of September when he has recovered from his recent metarsal operation" It could well be that neither RCS or the Saints are paying Gasmi just now. The "secu" and the "mutuelles" (health insurance) work in strange ways in France, when you're sick ,you get sick pay whether you're a floor sweeper or a formula 1 driver,it's very complex.
-
He has spent virtually nothing (so far) on those 2 players.Less than we got for Burley moving on, less than we're saving on Burley,Dodd,Gorman,Hoos,Hone, Lawrie Mac etc etc etc. I doubt if we've paid Strasboug 300K for Morgan yet, Gasmi is on loan. Their "wages" will be absolutely minimal.I'd stick my neck out and say you could get 3 Morgans and 2 Gasmis for a week of Rasiak's money. We probabably got decent loan fees for Saga and Rasiak, plus with AAB in group stages of the CL we may be getting a few adds ons on the Saga loan.Strange that we tied up the Gasmi deal after AAB qualified eh,same for Pulis.Read the signs, see facts, associate them with other facts and you'll be right most times although sometimes 2+2 does seem to make 5.

But Man City are in Europe, get 50 odd million from the Prem fund every year and have 40000 supporters who would go to Eastlands if their tyro league team played in the shirt. Manchester is a football city, Southampton is not,not any more. There are no factories,no docks (to speak of) to provide the football mad morons who go to the ground come hell or high water. Someone said it the other day, our support core suport is 15K, the rest just cherry pick games and go when we're playing well or if we have stars.Should have stayed at the Dell our spiritual home, not be playing at some landfill site in the scrubs.
-
Well I'm not so sure about that but I haven't the full facts to justify what I read yesterday that he'll be paid by Strasbourg until the end of september. Looked at their ticket prices while I was there, can't afford any planetary stars on these can you http://www.rcstrasbourg.fr/billet1.php

Right. I think you have to understand that Sky Money was like having an extra 25000 people in the stadium for every game (is that right 25Kx25=625x10"3"= 625Kx19=about 13 million or so. Now Sky money is about 25 million a season minimum so for the like of Derby and Stoke it puts 50000 on their gate for every single home game. How do you think Skate get by on their piddling 18 K gates?, the in ground support pales into insignificance when you've "Sky Money". -
i doubt if we shall see regular crowds of 24K plus at SMS for a while now. From what I have been able to ascertain financial constraints are really beginning to bite in the UK now across all sectors. A lot of UK residents are carrying far far too much debt and football will be one of the first "luxuries" to go.At 25/30 quid a match for Second Division football it's not on for a lot of people any more. Think on it, how much have your mortgage repayments gone up this year, what will you cut, your annual holiday or a few football matches?.

What Marseille, don't think he played many games at all for them, was always out on loan somewhere, Panathanaikos,Hearts, in fact the only real career that he had was at Hearts,Played 33 games for them in 1 season, played 28 for Slavia Prague in another,A good few games for us in his first season as well, all the rest is walk on roles apparently, 6 games here,12 there etc. -
Can't do that I'm afraid, not if the players concerned don't want to be terminated. Apparently Skacel didn't want to move to Ipswich for less money,so don't really think he'd want to be "terminated" for even less money. Contracts are a pig huh.
-
I don't think you can contract season long loans outside of the official transfer window,Isn't it 3 month maximum in the 'loan window'?
-
But this is football, ask any Chelsea,City or Pompey fan if they worry where the money comes from-of course they don't. To them it's a means to an end, it just isn't their problem. They pay their money and go to watch a horde of planetary stars wearing their team's shirt and winning (or perhaps) trophies. You support the team, who cares where the money that pays for it came from.Barton is a thug apparently, I wouldn't want him playing for us,nor Jack the Ripper neither but as for worrying about the provenance of the wherewithal to pay for them-forget it.

Good guess, seems high likely.

Papin is an interesting subject, famous for a sort of falling bicycle kick (usually extremely well executed and took a lot of keepers by surprise) commonly known as a "papinade".For those of you not familiar with the man, this is what a striker looks like.Vicious and deadly, would be worth 100 million quid at today's rates; http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1osfs_jeanpierre-papin-om_sport

Dan Dare was a wimp compared to Jet Ace Logan and his trusty side kick PlumDuff Charteris, at 5'8" and 75 kilos, Plumduff will probably be a most fitting name for our new recruit.
-
How much have they "splashed" then, genuine question;
-
Orthopaedic department at the RSH. Still Fred Wooley is always a nice rest up after a bit of a footballing injury. Had avery nice month there after I did a cartilage on Sholing Rec.
-
Wish they'd get on with going then, at the rate we pay them staying right up till midnight will cost us about another 600 quid.
-
Talking of takeover money, are Coventry splashing the cash since Sisu took them over? Ipswich have dobbed a bit, but woah they've had the same start as us .
-
That's because I have deliberately refrained from posting on it.
-
he might also know that J-P.P was at Strasbourg for one season only. Although he did give Gasmi 14 games in that time.
-
Gasmi isn't french for anything, it's a name of Algerian origin, what it means I have no idea.Seems like a common name though. We'll just have to settle for calling him Gasman
