I still don't understand this obsession with full backs. When the system works properly we don't need specialists, we need mobile players-which is what we have. Our problem isn't full backs ,it's carthorses in central defence. They should be gobbling up anything that comes in from the wings, they aren't because they weren't jumping, turning or moving any faster than spastic slugs on Saturday. All our problems came from there and Gillett giving free ball away.

What like C3PO?

I don't know anything about Gasmi but I saw Zidane play quite a few times, his was a physique that made you think twice about going in a giving him a bit of a nibble round the ankles. Hard guy Zidane,Used to get a lot of cards in his early days I think.No-one who saw him walk all over that Saudi guy in 98 or get sent off for a head butt in the 2006 final would call him a softy.
-
Not at 5ft 8 he isn't. Zidane is a big bulky bloke, well over 6 ft tall, low centre of gravity, not easy to push off the ball. Gasmi isn't a flyweight but he's much smaller than Zidane.

we won't be selling them you know St D, at best we'll be loaning them out and will not be concerned with them for at least 4 months,at worst they'll be gone and we'll be dobbing some to keep them in the luxury to which they have been accustomed.

It's not the same thing Wes, if there's a choice between honest money and dishonest money ,it's a non-starter.But if there's the choice of administration or iffy money ,it's not quite so clear cut.
-
I wouldn't, I have no scruples whatsoever as far as obtaining money for SFC goes I'm afraid. They could go and rob banks after training every day if it would save us from administration.'spect I'll get a lot of hassle for my "unhealthy" attitude eh what.

I expect it's more to do with having to raise a bit of cash to pay for a new solid gold lavvy seat as his Thai bank accounts are frozen.

Have we put in a bid for Berbatov yet?

Don't suppose many know really, not a lot of fans who go to Spurs reserve matches here really. He is unproven as far as I know, Czech under 21 international doesn't mean a lot to me really. It's like being a Togolaise U21 for all I know.

strange, I thought I saw some pretty handy close control from McG on Saturday, what does for him is his wayward shooting,it's as if he doesn't situate the goal very well in his peripheral vision.Tends to lift the ball too much, same as Lallana,if during that flipper incident, he'd hit the ball low and in the corner instead of thigh high in the middle we'd have been one up.Got to drill the ball in from close range not hit airy fairy shots.

Stoke are signing anyone with a pair of boots, they'll be going down and in the deep brown 2 years from now. You can't stay in the prem with the cheap rubbish they're capable of buying.
-
But we won't be "selling" either of them, we'll be loaning them out with a bit of help on the salary front, say 30% ish.

Good article, as I was saying last week, something must give soon, but it will be paupers like ourselves who go under and the rest wil carry on regardless. If City hadn't been taken over they might have been in serious trouble, but with a 50K seater stadium, millions of Mancunian morons to fill it for want of anything better to do,they'll always get cash on demand.
-
If you all keep buying SUVs various governments will be able to provide free football for all with a guaranteed 30 man squad of planetary stars for everyone down to Hampshire League level, either that or the polar caps will melt and water polo will be the 'in" game.
-
I see Man City are getting barrow loads of Gulf cash then, when's ours due to turn up.We'll probably just get the wheelbarrow and no cash.
-
But this is Furlan again, remember him, he kicked Saga out at Troyes apparently.Seems that the "crime" attributed to Gasmi was going out to a restaurant with his mum and dad to celebrate his birthday on the eve of a match. That was a while ago apparently, whether there's been some other incident I couldn't say.
-
Gasmi isn't a winger, he's a playmaker,a number 10, a midfield general, call it what you will. He's got some sort of foot injury, don't expect him anywhere near a game (other than in the stands) for another few weeks, like 5. There's one post here that is worrying, the one that says that his exclusion from the squad at RCS is for disciplinary reasons, that some of his acts,if tolerated, would open the door to all sorts of excesses .http://www.infosracing.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7864&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=10 Right I've read through the whole thread there and it seems that according to that fans forum (often more ITK than UK fans) Gasmi's loan wilml be effective from the end of September with an option at 1 million Euros plus 15% of and add on value to go to RSC if he moves on for a transfer fee.
-
I expect absolutely zero movement today.Could be a surprise though I suppose.
-
Perhaps we had to register them so that they could play in Claus's testimonial. I know nothing about football administration.
-
I would have thought that the club must have looked at the situation with a view to getting rid of the apparently unwanted BWP, I would have thought that if they could have used the incident to offload 350K (reportedly)from the salary mass they would have done so.We can't reasonably expect to get anywhere near that sum for him.Dyer being in the same boat must have complicated the issue as we couldn't give one the shove and keep the other with a view to obtaining either tribunal compensation or a transfer fee. However perhaps the crime wasn't serious enough to act on.I don't know, you'd have to know minute contract details to really understand the situation.

Yes sorry you're right, the 8021 was for their game about Carlisle, so their attendance varies by 7.5k from match to match, must be a budgetary nightmare, unless the BBC got it wrong of course. Can they have that few ST holders at QPR, less than 8000?
-
Must say I couldn't quite understand why we kept Dyer on, no-one wanted him enough to pay the compensation I suppose. I think if we could have rid ourselves of BWP that easily it would have been done, obviously wasn't an option. We shall see what happens come tuesday midnight but as I see it we have a "squad" that is getting too big again.Must be pushing on 30 again now, thought JP wanted 25,I was very very optimistic for this season, nothing brilliant or flamboyant but I expected the squad to be seriously slimmed down and better results against sides like Blackpool. I would have to say that my expectations have somewhat diminished since 5pm yesterday. We still have the same old deadweight dross dragging us down ,crowds are poor to catastrophic and yesterday's result was a sickener, our defence looked so poor that I am seriously worried.
-
Agreed, we (or Jan) has to find a solution to that centre back pairing, from within I presume. You could see yesterday that corners and set pieces scared us wobbly, young players learning to cope with full time, week in week out football just don't need that sort of extra pressure. Our midfield playing so high was designed to keep the pressure off the back two, didn't work . I thought he'd run Cork on at half-time, he didn't , don't know why.Perhaps he just didn't see it the way we seem to.
-
On that very point, 15K and change yesterday, what was that about then? Not many Blackpool, I could see that from the TV,for the other missing thousands, lack of "names" in our side, hatred of the senior management, holidays,TV what? or is the dire economic situation predicted by Mr Darling beginning to bite football already. I looked at QPR's attendance against Doncaster, 8000 or so....so those Sugar daddies better start making economies on fast cars and fast women, a lot of big spenders will need bailling out soon.
