  1. In fact in EU Commission circles the betting seems to be roughly on never receiving a formal demand to leave the EU. Probably totally misguided and only chatter but there it is. The sentiment is that we don't know what we're doing and have no one to do it even if we did. Watch this space. NB. Don't get so assy with me, I have done nothing, as I said I was not eligible to vote. But for businesses it's probably best to get on with it and not allow the situation to fester and rot as the EU Commission seems to hope it will.
  2. No, Think of Stephanie Twell, Cross country and 5000 metre runner. Take away the T and put in a P, that's roughly it. Alternative think on how non Welsh pronounced Pwellheli, knock off the eee sounds at the end and that's about it. Means a young tree or bush from the old French.
  3. Correct, Valls said only yesterday that there wouldn't be a TTIP, said it was undesirable and impossible. Mind you with elections in 10 months time who knows.
  4. However I do think that being seen to be trying to move forward with it all instead of leaving doubt and uncertainty to hover over everything for another 4 months or so may help us somewhat. Not sure that Cameron should have said I'll resign sometime or other in the next 4 months, really don't think that will help. If he's going he should just go and let someone else start organising whatever is to follow.
  5. Some players for some pre-season testing. Those who are or have been on international call won't be back yet for varying periods. Plenty of time yet for a new manager, well a week anyway; There's obviously some sort of reason that Puel hasn't been confirmed yet although L'Equipe did say this morning it was imminent.
  6. I personally would not want Blanc, even then we couldn't afford him. 22 million euros for 2 years of contract left, work it out for yourselves.
  7. Our super bowling getting flayed again this morning I see. How can you go from 66-1 to 200/2 in 30 overs in a 4 day game? This cock up on the bowling front is going to lead us to perhaps one of our worst seasons ever. Out in the pool stage of the T20, same in the Royal London one day cup and relegation in the County Championship.
  8. It's only football. 90-180 minutes a week for about 10 months of the year.
  9. Reports in the press are notoriously unreliable. Buying clubs play down what they spent and selling clubs bump it up. It'll be in the accounts, just as it was 2 seasons back when we sold for 90 odd million according to the popular press and about 80 million according to the accounts. The press rarely take into account what has to be paid out of the transfer fee, VAT, agents, formation rights, sell on fees etc. There's a reason why clubs announce undisclosed fees. If you're in luck footyleaks gives you the lowdown a few months later, then you see that 40 million is really 28 million with add ons for winning the league, the Champion's League, Le Ballon D'or and other such trifles..The Martial transfer showed it all up a bit really.
  10. I counter bet that we will never know really how much we obtained or spent. Might get some sort of clue from the accounts to June 16 when they're published next April.
  11. You are absolutely correct here, the supporters' views are largely irrelevant. Most of us have come to accept that anyone to whom a significant price tag can be attached will eventually be sold. So far the result has not been catastrophic in any way and the practice is thus perfectly acceptable. We'll see what happens if it ever becomes any different.
  12. Even between EU clubs VAT is applicable I believe. As we usually sell for more than we buy our contributions to the Exchequer must be fairly consistent .
  13. Looks like we may get a Podemos-Socialist government in Spain then.
  14. Well I think his plan was not to lose actually. When the referendum was promised I don't think many senior politicians actually envisaged there being a no vote. I am still not convinced that the UK will actually leave the EU, depends on the actual process I think, could be that it's not adopted by Parliament.
  15. I don't know, but the African papers seem to think that Mané has one.
  16. Not followed this thread much so forgive me for asking 2 questions that have no doubt been asked and answered elsewhere. Why do African papers seem to think Mané has a 37 million € buyout clause and how much of that will we owe Red Bull Salzburg?
  17. Especially when there's an Italy-Spain at the same stage. Just dreadful, a sad advert for British football. Should have 1 team and dominate the world for the next 40 years.
  18. Because someone has to give the bloke a job. F.A orders.
  19. Bit of a sad spectacle is Wales-N.Ireland.
  20. What? from 7 am to 10 at night and postal vote for those that really couldn't. Think you're joshing.
  21. That's right, also mentioning a fee of 25-30 million euros, which I'd think was out of our usual league. Would certainly be our most expensive signing ever..
  22. Ah, Hasten down the Wind scenario. Perhaps Warren Zevon had a brexit experience at some time or other.
  23. Blanc has been sacked with a 22 million € pay off and Emery has been pulling the strings at PSG already these last 2 weeks. He'll be announced next week no doubt, might even be the same time as Krychoviak (or however that's actually spelt).
  24. Yep, got our Les Reed thread, now all we need to make a summer are a few swallows, a bit of sun and distinctly less firkin rain...oh and some decent bowling from Hampshire.
