  1. As I said the Beeb make a difference between a long ball and a long pass aimed specifically at one player, seems that long ball is a sort of euphemism for "aimless punt". I am not a fan of hit and hope into the mixer, good sides don't do it very much. As for Pelle, honestly I could well do without him, he's not often where he needs to be when he needs to be and is an ill tempered bastard most of the time. If we had JRod available Pelle would be a bench warmer.
  2. Don't know how accurate they are but there are some long ball/short pass/long pass statistics on the BBC site and it seems that although not in the top few long ballers we're not in the short pass experts either. Averaging about 30 long balls a game seemingly. We may need to cut that out.
  3. They can all probably shoot extremely well from outside the box if they have time and space to do it, they either have instructions not to do that or they're lacking in instantaneous aptitude.
  4. What like Victor in the first half you mean, ended up in touch down by the corner flag. If you're going to do that it's best not to bother really. Good keepers don't always get fooled by long range punts 30 yds out.
  5. In fact it's not even as simple as that, we need to get our first XI back on the field and the whole system will fall back into place. Watched the game last night and it looked to me that because we lack a wee bit of class in a couple of areas just now everything becomes complex and mayonnaisey. The balls coming out of the middle aren't right, Toby doesn't just punt out of defence, Gardos and Maya do.
  6. But we couldn't afford anyone decent and there was no point in signing someone just for the sake of it. Basically we gambled on JRod and it didn't work out, or at least hasn't yet.
  7. And do we know that they don't ??
  8. Same injury I think, Koeman said he had a bit of a reaction, which is never a good sign, after Saturday's run out.
  9. Normal, he doesn't want to play for a crap team forever. He can get double for sunning himself on the bench at the Bernabeu.
  10. Extremely unlikely is about all you can say on this rumour.
  11. Guess that's just remotely possible for a West Ham fan, one wouff for long ball, two for an awful tackle, 'bout all you'd need really.
  12. It could be becasue we've lost 2 successive home games yes but we lost those games because our midfield was woefully weak against robust sides, to boot last weeek we were poor in front of goal. Today we should be back to par so we should be OK.
  13. Probably nothing more than forging a sick note from his Mum to get off a day out at Bournemouth and going to the Emirates instead....I mean the club told us he was ill right?
  14. the whole chabang was malconceived; Morocco ditched them and have been kicked out of this tournament, banned from the next two and fined 6 million £ or something. So they found another host, the footy was in the main garbage, most games were drawn and the host nation's neighbours made the quarters in a lottery. There has been a lot of absolutely diabolical reffing resulting in at least one long term ref ban. Now there have been riots because err the host nation were losing a game that they shouldn't even probably have been playing in. The Acon is just a waste of time for everyone who doesn't really follow African football and it should be recognised as such and made a 4 yearly event in the same way as all other continents.
  15. 88, beat Russia about 4-0, in 92 it was the great Danish upset, they only played because Serbia (or Yugoslavia) got turfed out for being knobbish.
  16. I seem to remember that just after joining us he scored a cracker in a close win, crowd took to him instantly. It was also great escape season and he scored a couple of vital goals in our run in.
  17. Hasn't he got a cushy job on the board at Bournemouth lined up ? Better chance of being in the PL next season with Bournemouth than he had at QPR.
  18. Think it's known as chauvinism, Tadic is becoming a bit of a disappointment for me, never was convinced, still am not. Think the PL is too intense for his capacities, not the first, won't be the last..
  19. Really can't see that it would make much difference. QPR are a poor side, changing the manager won't change that.
  20. People see what they want to see, if the tackle had been the other way round and Barrow was only given a yellow there'd be a furore to end all furores on this forum. It was a red card, there is no issue really.
  21. Source seems to be L'Equipe who seem to be getting wilder and wilder in their transfer "news" and less and less accurate. They used to get most of it spot on, now they've caught Sunitis and just dish out populist crap. Only a few months back they were saying that Saints knocked back a bid of 34 million €s on the last transfer deadline day. They're being fed crap by all and sundry now and more is the pity. For instance they're reporting the transfer fee for Bertrand today at 15 million euros or about 12 million £ whereas it seems to be about 9 million £.
  22. Well done you then, hadn't noticed, recent ?
  23. Apart from his penchant for starting new threads all the time to avoid paying £5 you mean.
  24. Oh you mean that new fangled invention whereby any knob can make up crap and send it round the globe to impress gullible idiots everywhere.
  25. Nope, to work in the UK (well as a footballer anyway) you either need to be British, come from some country or other where there's a reciprocal agreement (used to be the case with Australia and the like) be an EU citizen or get a work permit. The classic example of this is Traore with West Ham and Everton last season. 6 month loan from Monaco to West Ham, applied for the old WP, eventually got it after a tribunal, didn't fancy West Ham, signed for Everton who had to start again on the work permit front, must have played for Everton about once as well. If the lad has the required number of recent international appearances to be an automatic WP it's dead simple, rubber stamp jobby, if he doesn't we'd have to go and plead our case at a tribunal again.
