  1. So basically RK doesn't rate Gallagher...seems like a categoric refusal to even try anything different even for 15 minutes at the end of a game.Must be a real downturn in situation for the lad.
  2. It's sometimes too expensive to insure players against long term injury, many clubs don't do it any more, don't know whether we do or don't, we didn't at one time at the end of the Lowe era. I think career ending insurance is fairly widespread but incapacity through injury is not really standard. There have been many cases of players getting injured in international tournaments leaving their clubs to pick up the wage bill for months afterward, clubs have tackled UEFA over this and obtained some measure of compensation from the national associations, wouldn't get that if they had insurance for every player anyway. If we insure all of our players against temporary incapacity it would show up in the accounts, for a 30 player squad it would probably run into millions of £s, anyone seen that in the accounts?
  3. Victor to Arsenal rumours have been rife for a few years now, think his agent is on record as having said that he wanted gto go there when he was at Celtic, rumoured talks between Wenger and the family at that time. They didn't sign him then, they probably won't now. We're not going to be in the CL next season, maybe not even in Europe, players with ambition will have their agents working in turbo mode, get something fixed up before the summer tidal wave hits the market..
  4. In fact JRod can only have had a negative influence on us this season, a year's salary for absolutely ferk all return, tough titty of course but it has had an effect to be sure.
  5. So he's never spoken to Wenger, not once in what 5 years in UK football and a fair number of matchday meetings....unsociable sort of chap then. But to come back to this story, he's probably not spoken directly to Wenger about this but others may have done it for him, isn't that what agents do to earn their crust?
  6. I don't, what you see is what you get in my case, can't imagine people actually paying multiple fivers just to titilate themselves by thinking that they're fooling others really. Strange world some of you live in.
  7. Only Bertrand is a better player than those we sold last season, well Toby as well be he's only a loanee and doesn't look like staying. Forster is a good player as well but probably only on a par with Boruc. Lallana,Lambert have been replaced with inferior players and Chambers hasn't really been replaced at all.
  8. They all do, those that are good enough get there, those that aren't don't. It's just possible that some of our better players are disappointed by the end of our season, we were top 4 hopefuls, now we're clinging on to a hope of 6th place or that Villa won't win the cup (which they will, just like I said they might 2 months ago, respectable side, criminally mismanaged). I mean who knows what players think, some of us believe that failure to sign an alternative striker in January was a grave error, maybe some players think that too.
  9. Wouldn't worry about it, Arsenal are always "interested" in everybody, they actually sign about 0.1% of them. Just from what I've seen this week that makes Naingolan,Gundogan,Victor, both Benders and Howedes. Oh and add Kondogbia as well......it's just the way Arsenal do things, shake the bag and see what drops out.
  10. Why would we get Benteke though.
  11. Wasn't that against Arsenal away? He went off afer we'd used all of our subs and the knobbers scored. Think he was at CB to start though, might have changed afterwards, don't remember. Edit Started CB, Cork went off and Maya came on so I suppose that Toby went to MF.
  12. You mean he's trying to become the archetypal ginger rat ? Works in the lower divisions,PL refs will have him off in a second.
  13. No idea, perhaps one of the CM fans would know that, didn't we have an Argentine poster a while ago ?
  14. Qatar Airways and an average 40 odd thousand home gate I expect.
  15. Perhaps he just doesn't know how to be a 4 day batsman against decent bowlers, seems to come in and want to hit every ball out of the ground. Either that or he just can't be fagged to run between the wickets.
  16. And therein lies the reason why we can never ever keep our better players. We don't pay enough for a top side. To really be a top side you need top players and to get top players you need top money not a pîssy 35K a week, especially when the PL gives you roughly 80 million £ a season.
  17. Nice steady start today after being put in, in fact the kind of start I'd hoped for in the second innings last week. If only Carberry hadn't got carried away when he was set we might have won that. Adams and Dawson opening today, giving us a platform to buid on, 81 without loss after 27 overs.
  18. If you say so, I went (ok ok but I got a free ticket) to watch Clermont-Saracens, not bad actually.
  19. Well, the Canal+ experts were unanimous about him against Burnley, he lacks composure and snatches at any chance he gets. It was Remy Garde and that bloke who used to play for Bolton, Habib Beye I think is his name.
  20. We'll see what is to be seen but I am concerned over the number of people who seem to think that the minute Clasie is an adequate replacement for Schneiderlin, for me he'll be way too small for today's PL.There's small and small and Clasie falls into the latter category.
  21. Frustrating is the word that describes our season to me, good season but I just can't evacuate the feeling that we've spoilt the proverbial ship either through stubborness on someone's part or for want of the old ha'porth of tar. Didn't see yesterday's game (day out at t'Rugby) so nothing to say about that.
  22. Ah I don't know there, sometimes there are things you can only see at the game, stuff like movement off the ball, anticipation, comportment over 90 minutes etc. Scouts don't always watch the game, just the player that they're interested in and his interactions. Saw a report on Pogba the other day, apparently if you watch him for 90 minutes there are several sectors where he needs to improve but you don't always pick them up in a televised game.
  23. Campbell is at Villareal, on loan I think and Flanagan had some sort of fairly long term knee injury.
  24. Listening to the BBC Solent commentary myself...seems to be some sensible batting just now, few short balls from the Australian chappie (what can you expect really) though.
  25. Right 378 to get then, 3.5 or 4 sessions, 120 overs or so, so no one day batting required at all thanks lads.
