  1. Because it's Aston Villa, an age old club with a massive following amongst the illiterate of Birmingham and it's suburbs. They have seriously underachieved, probably because their manager doesn't know what he's doing.
  2. Well then he's a softy, Deschamps doesn't even tolerate phone calls to agents.Considers it as not being totally involved in the "vie de group"..ask Samir Nasri..
  3. If Mauricio should leave you need to rush out and plonk your tenner on Uwe Rosler.
  4. I have no idea, clubs can tap up a new manager without any reference to the incumbent so I doubt that would make any difference. Sherwood's brief was clear: CL or you're out so there would be no problem speaking with other managers. FdB said they did, DL said they didn't. Probably just confusion of who is acting for whom at the end of the day. Not even convinced that Mauricio is that keen on Spurs, he just doesn't want to find himself in crap street again with a bunch of academy rookies and the fans expecting him to maintain our status from this season. If he gets reasonable support from the board I think he'll still be here come August...Therein lies the question, how much is reasonable.
  5. In fact in the early days some media outlets passed off pictures of Mrs Cortese as being KL, far more flattering to boot. Think this was said to be KL in the Echo.
  6. Exactly ML and NC both said we didn't do debt...but we did and still do. I remember getting lambasted a couple of years back for saying that we had debt... As I said in another thread the charges on the club are now appproaching the market value of the club. It's all very well owning a Bentley but if you want to get shot of it then you'd best not be in Equatorial Guinea or something. Objects are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them at the time. Villa is going for about 180 million and has no doubt far more earnings potential than SFC.
  7. Levy said that they had no contact with De Boer, perhaps Tommac has been masquerading as D Levy.
  8. It will cost them 2 million £, it would end there. Any manager they hire will get a salary and bring his salaried staff. When you think that Jardim has just cost Monaco in excess of 4 million £ and he's not even a top name then 2 million for MP is a snip. The great advantage to Spurs is that he just might be able to get something out of Lamela and Soldado with his style of play, losing any positive contribution from those 2 is going to cost them much more. I can see why he's attractive to them, his style might just make something of their 60 million £ investment plus whatever they've taken in salaries this year for a very limited contribution.
  9. As far as I've seen there's nothing to say he isn't intending to honour his present contract, just doesn't seem to be falling over himself to sign a new one. Makes sense, no point in tying himself to the club if he's really unsure where it's going in years to come. Wenger let his contract run down to it's very end, he's staying with Arsenal all the same, Moyes hyad a 6 year contract and was sacked after just less than a year. We need to get our ducks in a row,if it hasn't been done already, and convince the manager that what will be available to him next season and those after that will allow him to reach 6th place next season and so on. I've no real anxiety about Lallana and Shaw being sold either, if it stops there and the replacements for them are of a decent quality and there's still some money left from those transfers for a real striker, a CB and a keeper. If all that comes to pass I shall be pleased, I've no great attachment to either Lallana or Shaw, good players, loyal servants but there are equally good players available.
  10. I wouldn't take either, we can get younger players for far less than those 2 old hacks. They won't take 10 bob a week you know,if some deluded club asks them nicely they might agree to 70K a week but certainly not less. They can easily get that in the old footballers graveyard that is MLS.
  11. Probably running out of disposable money:uhoh:
  12. So to sum up then. We risk next season having mediocre players wearing crap kit. Never mind parking is free and Matty gets to spout off at the Annual Awards Evening.
  13. Les Reed was obviously telling what he believed to be the truth. Whether he knows everything that comes to pass at SMS is another question. Can't see him really being in the circle of confidence with the owner and her acolytes, he's just something they inherited with the furniture. I could well be totally misguided though but I see there being an inner circle of KL RK and HH and everyone else is outside of it.
  14. I feel that we could definitely do a wee bit better with a really potent striker to play in tandem with JRod, on occasions our men have been far too wasteful for a really top side. Still think if we had a Suarez or Aguero we'd have made top 6. The number of times Mauricio has remarked on it tends to back up my view. Trouble is we'd need to find one at base level because not being in Europe denies us the possibility of signing such a player at the summit of his art.
  15. End of next season IIRC
  16. What kept us up last season was beating Chelsea,Liverpool and Citeh at home, no-one can say definitely whether Mauricio's pressing football was responsable for that but it's highly likely. Without those 3 wins we were down.
  17. you'll get hate mail for that don'tcha know. Out of his depth totally in elevated spheres but some think he was a cracking bloke and that made up for everything. Couldn't even make the CC play-offs with a relegated PL side. Even Arry managed that and so did Rosler..
  18. No your logic is erroneous, it would just show that you still remember your ex fondly but that if someone new comes along you wouldn't mind ditching the current for her whilst not reconciling with the ex either. On the other hand it might just mean that you've only got 2 ties and the other one was in the wash. I still wear my OT's tie on occasions, doesn't mean I shall be sitting at a desk in Highfield come next monday.
  19. I think we do need the money justly. The cost of the club to the owner must now be approaching it's market value. To plough in more cash for transfers without any significant transfer income might well push us close to negative equity so to speak. As far as I can see the ML family have ploughed in about 60 million £, on top of that the club owe(or are liable in the near future)for about the same. So if KL were to raid her handbag again for another 30 million or so this summer the fulcrum point would be near. It's true were getting a load of cash from the PL this year but I suspect much of that has been earmarked to reduce debt.
  20. According to PL rules they can go through at any time after midnight on the last day of the season.
  21. Why would Cortese be involved ? Really it's getting ridiculous all this speculation about him. The manager may leave because he seems to be concerned about 'the project' (which means expenditure on new players.). It's sod all to do with Cortese who is no doubt chilling out somewhere in Switzerland (or Italy). Seems to me that we're all trying to blame any tardiness or indecision of the present "board" onto someone who probably doesn't give a toss what's going on in SO14.
  22. The first Transfer Window in any year shall commence at midnight on the last day of the Season and shall end on 31st August next if a Working Day or, if not, on the first Working Day thereafter, at a time to be determined by the Board. The PL has it's own rules, don't know how they get on with the FA over registrations though.
  23. pity he didn't get predators right though.
  24. But the club do comment on press speculation to the extent that Reed put in an appearance before a pre-match presser and it would seem to me that Krueger never misses a chance to comment on everything and anything of late. Now Cortese, he didn't comment, unless it was to gather ST holders together for dinners and give them updates from time to time.
  25. And yet when we had even less information last year no-one thought it particularly damaging, that said most of us just assumed that Nicola would tell clubs to f*ck right off anyway or just bin the faxes. Talking of information at what stage did we announce the pre-season tour last year, can't remember at all.
