  1. Probably, it is also a party (like our FN) that attracts people who see their lives being diminished in some way by the EU in particular and mass immigration in general. The FN is running at 20%+ in France, several major towns are now controlled by their local branches after the last round of municipal elections. Unemployment is over 4 million, people haven't had pay rises for years, about a third of the population are on minimum wage and receive a meagre 7/9 ths of that due to savage social charges. They blame it, rightly or wrongly on the EEC because in their sometimes uneducated view the EEC has taken all major control from the government who just re-arrange the deckchairs on the resultant Titanic.
  2. It's not particularly surprising, bloke was alwqays wavinbg theaxe over underachievers. Remember commenting it on it at the time, said it was highly probable because the results were bad and we were sinking like a lead fish.
  3. Still when you've a team that's getting paid nigh on a million a week you don't want too many of them dying of pneumonia and hypothermia now do you.
  4. Title winning ???? The dutch championship is a 2 horse race, the managers of Ajax and PSV have each a 50% chance of winning the title. Crap league peopled by mainly crap players or decent players waiting to get noticed for transfers to real clubs. Do not forget De Ridder was a star in the Eredivisie.
  5. Buttner was playing for Chelsea Reserves....Vitesse Arnhem.
  6. Morgan's agent is Thomas Cooper Sports. Napoli are bidding for Gonalons a far inferior performer from Lyon, less hassle, Aulas can never refuse an offer he sees as rentable.
  7. I really can't say, if the new manager can get something out of Lamela,Soldado etc they could be very well placed....if they can find some defenders..hopefully not ours.
  8. Cabaye or Mavuba, both half crocked already.
  9. Well that will only be if one of the 23 has to drop out, however he does get to go to the first training camp (from about Monday until 28th May) and that's a significant step forward for him from completely being ignored despite some fine performances over 2 seasons. Still there a couple of fragile marys in the 23 so it's possible he could just get a reprieve.
  10. Definitely not in their 30 then, neither is that other red herring that we're always supposed to be signing.
  11. It's all just made up bollax probably. If Mauricio had signed on the club would announce it, if deals have been agreed for players their agents would be trumpeting it to the press. No-one who's saying owt knows anything.
  12. Probably just another happy clap fest. He's probably holding out for some serious squad improvement, certainly if there are outgoings. Managers do do this, Remi Garde has just quit on Lyon because he was just fed up with having to try to make silk purses out of sows ears. That's a club who sell anything that's saleable and try to fill the gaps with their "academy".
  13. I think it's got something to do with the dogs dinner that masquerades as their defence. Lloris has formally complained to the Chairman about it apparently. Other than that he had to make the CL, we all know that if you don't at Tottenham you get sacked.
  14. Mauricio has come in again these last few daysin the betting whilst De Boer has gone out.
  15. Yes he is, won't cost anywhere near 37 million £ though. 7 million perhaps. He's a brick crapper like Wanyama.
  16. This is because I am now conditioned to French football economics where the DCNG has the power to relegate you if you don't get the columns in your in/out ledger balanced correctly. They let clubs go to the wall like Le Mans, plenty have been hit with recruitment bans, fines. If you want great facilities you have to be able to ppay for them and as I don't really believe that our owner is in fact a billionaire then I see problems up ahead.
  17. Band of Shysters.....they should all be locked up now, instead they're all out there doing it all over again. If you or I ran a business and didn't pay our VAT we'd be in sh*t street, PFC not so much, probably because some idiot in a government department considers ongoing football on Portsea Island to be therapeutic for the mentally and socially challenged. We've one in France like that,Justice Minister, doesn't agree with locking up criminals, it's more therapeutic for them to be allowed to roam the streets and start offending all over again.
  18. In fact what they might consider doing is putting Fergie out to grass, he's had his time with his band of players but now they need to turn the page on him and all that went with him. Appointing Giggs and Neville etc to get under the new manager's feet was just a Fergie control mechanism as was appointing a Scot from a very similar background. They need a new broom, a new bucket and new dusters.
  19. Not good enough and an abrasive character. Not really worth a place in a group of 23 blokes living together for 5 or 6 weeks.
  20. Even then you can't compete unless you can get the best raw material in the first place. We produce wing backs, we've still to produce a viable top flight CB or keeper, or striker or CM. In fact of our best XI (I rate Clyne over Chambers) only Lallana and Shaw are academy products, all the rest are bought in. Our academy system works on occasions but we produce more players for Swindon,Brentford and Yeovil than we do for our first team. I'm really sorry but from what I've seen of Gallagher he won't make a PL striker in a thousand years, now the kiddy from Utd the other day, 2 chances 2 goals, that's a top flight youngster.
  21. It seems to me that Mauricio doesn't want our CMs to run with the ball, he wants players who can tackle (or intercept) the ball and then have the ability to drop in on a tanner 50 yards away in a nanosecond. We have front men to run with the ball, wingbacks as well. Can Cork do that, I don't remember him being an ace at accurate instantaneous passing but that could be because I've not paid enough attention to him in the 40 odd matches I've seen this season. The other thing is that although they're all right footers only Morgan looks in any way comfortable on the left side, he's also a hell of a lot faster than the other 2.
  22. Ah yes, for someone wanting to buy a nearly there club but with a state of the art training ground, but it has to be paid for as of yet and we don't have that much swanning about in cash I presume. Hopefully we've got some sort of long term mortgage or loan on it though and don't have to pay for it out of current disposable cash. At the end of the day it is costing too much for a club of our size. SMS dragged the old setup down, I sincerely hope that this latest princely dream won't drag the new one down.
  23. Diego Costa is signing for Chelsea for 32 million £ (or is it €) Puts the ridiculous sums being bandied about by Southampton supporters for Lallana and Shaw into focus really. Costa is just 25 . Lallana is probably worth about 20 million £, it's just the 25% owed to Bournemoutrh that makes that figure unacceptable to us, we'd be left with far less than 15 million to get a replacement. You could go for blokes like Aaron Hunt but he apparently has better offers with clubs qualified for the CL which is what it's all about for top top players.
  24. I run in them, never had any complaints whatsoever, ever at 150+ K a week (only on 80 odd now though) Always had Nikes since the first Internationalists. They are not snide trainers to people who run in them. Then again I buy real shoes, Spans 1 to 8, Triax, Zoom Elites, Zoom Racers, Lunarglides 1 to 5. Never tried Air Maxs or anything that are only any good for going to the shops in.
  25. Which means that if the club is ever sold they take at least that back and probably more.
