  1. Whether we'll finish 8th or 9th without Lovren for 8/10 weeks is debateable though, we can only wait and see. I'd be a lot happier if I could sense that the club were trying to sign a decent CB in what remains of the window though..oh and a striker because Dani ...well he's finished here, leaves us with just JRod and the tiring Lambert who may or may not be more focused on the WC than the rest of Saint's PL campaign.
  2. But the thing is James we've not too much idea whether that's going to be our swan song for a while or not. Most have gleefully accepted the rather patronising open letter to the fans. Some haven't though because they thought we were on an upwards curve for a few years to come now and they are fearful that we might just sink into the chaos that reigned between 2004 and 2009. I can well understand Barcelona's view of things and that he was bold enough to express them on the forum. I can well see good players leaving this summer and being replaced with inferior ones, I'm used to it, like Barca I've been following Saints for too many years to be fooled by the contents of an open letter. I want to see actions before I make up my mind, perhaps he does as well.
  3. I fail to see what you're saying here actually, are you saying that elements of the Isolde+Willie branch are in fact assisting Katarina in her endeavours with SFC or are you just totally confused about who is and who does what in the Liebherr and Mali enterprises. Markus Liebherr had nothing to do with the Cranes,Freezers, Plant Machinery side of the business...nothing whatsoever.
  4. is that news or wishful thinking ?
  5. Anyway apologies are never, ever necessary on TMS, it's in the rules FFS, rule 1014A.4: No apologies necessary under any circumstances.
  6. Agreed, reports would look to be wildly exagerated, doesn't even seem to be enough bruising around the eye to have taken a serious head butt, little girls smack perhaps. I've had worse in playground fights at junior school. No-one got suspended for those, just 6 of the best.
  7. Sharp has another year, Barnard must be out of contract in the summer
  8. So then for what time is this tryst scheduled ?
  9. Cortese and Mauricio brought him here, sold him the dream, Cortese has gone and if you reflect on it you'll probably notice that Osvaldo has been playing the fool since he probably found out that Cortese was going. If anyone has the famous Cortese depart clause in his contract it's probably Osvaldo....all the rest is probably just a cover up. Mystery illness and injuries, touchline brawls, more mystery injuries and now that he'd actually be expected to play a game...wham another training ground brawl. It's so transparent that a blind man could see it.
  10. Why so ? Perhaps ordinary people don't own land in the overcrowded UK but they do elsewhere in Europe, we've a few acres of woodland, paid about 5000 euros for it. If you can't build on it it's cheap as chips, plenty for everyone that wants it.
  11. Poor old Leon, paid a fortune for his shares when the Wilde thing was going on, far more than most people and then he got ripped off by a band of no hopers for another 500000£ All in all Saints must have cost him at least 3 million and he never really got full control of the train set. Still you know what they say about fools and their money.
  12. there are no massive hills on the Paris Marathon route only a couple of slight uphill drags, one at about 13 k and the other just after 33 k. It's a fast course but unless you're a preferential starter (which I shall be because of my girl) the Champs start is a bit of a bastard, plus it's down hill and the euphoria of getting over the start line can put you in the red zone straight away. I shall definitely be holding her back there, forcedly if necessary, she can run a click (km) in about 2 minutes 50 but if she does that she'll blow up in the first 5 K.
  13. I shall be running at the Paris Marathon as it happens but I'll be far ahead of Pancake I'm afraid,my girl is running her first marathon and I'm going to guide her round, she's looking at about 2h 50 I think, if I'm not too tired I'll double back after the finish and give him the support you suggest.
  14. Oh he's no beginner at distance running I'll wager, Paris is a good marathon but the start conditions aren't great.
  15. Well all that sounds terminally sad I'm sure. What did these lads do with their 3,5 or 7 years at Uni, jeez you only have to turn up and tick a few boxes to get the degree, the rest of the time is for social (and sexual) intercourse. Mind you Mikey did drop out after 2 years or so, perhaps they didn't have freshers week and rag balls where he went.
  16. As I am not familiar with this series I haven't got a clue what that means. Is it anything like Denaerys Targayren getting her dragons back? Will Mikey catch fire in some dark Winchester haunt. Mind you he could do a lot worse than the Khaleesi even if Khal Drogo has given her a good going over in the past. Don't let him catch you though Mikey, nasty head-butt on him.
  17. Well whatever we're planning on doing with him we'd best be getting on with it quickly. Time and transfer windows wait for no man. Another week and we're stuck with him because he's not the sort of player you can loan out to Chesterfield or Crewe Alexandra. Don't know about S.Am though, think they may be in close season just now.
  18. That's a bit defamatory actually Bletch, I certainly didn't restrict my activities to my own university campus, I had friends in plenty of other University campii as well , tended to restrict Imperial conquests to weekdays and visit elsewhere on week-ends because in those days you could travel anywhere on BR without paying on most occasions. In fact the 70 and early 80s were a great time to be young, free Uni, smart girls didn't get knocked up ,they gave you money sometimes and recruters came round campuses falling over themselves to sign you up.
  19. Indeed a real lad, could never resist a card game.
  20. Unfortunately not no,we tried but there were no takers, I even had to bribe my mother in law with money and lavish gifts to look after them for the odd week-end on occasions. They had 3 or 4 babysitters, 2 of whom I believe are still in care institutes for the irrevocably insane. One of the 2 au-pairs that we had simply disappeared without trace, had to talk my way out of that one with the Belgian authorites. They were not the great gifts that some make offspring out to be really. Mind you that's probably because they're quite bright and most things simply bored them silly. Still they're gone now, one is self supporting and the other one only needs the odd cash injection from time to time.
  21. Excellent advice really, children are horrible, mucky, expensive things...far better if you can pack them back off to someone else after a couple of hours.
  22. I think Inter thought that there was a vast imbalance in the respective values of Guarin and Vucinic and wanted about 6 million to be added to weight the deal.
  23. my friends tell me I am remarkably well preserved actually. Obviously not the stunner that I was at 21 of course but I could still pass for 30 at 45.... never let myself go you see, still run 10 miles every other day, don't eat crap and go to the gym a bit. Of course an "easy life" as an academic and then EU 'fonctionnnaire" helps as does my lady wife who'd probably dump me if I started slacking on the good looks front.:smug:
  24. which was entirely Reading's fault. As it was an emergency loan (as are all loans outside TWs) it couldn't surpass 92 days or something and they wanted him for the XMas/New Year period so they arranged the start date accordingly.
  25. Unsurprising, many young men of my era had role models amongst those illustrious emissions, I always supposed myself to be more like Paul Nicholas in "Just Good Friends" myself but I know a couple of lads who thought Alfie was the ultra being and copied him outrageously. Any outing to Fridays of a week-end evening would just reveal loads of lads very similar to Alfie, Vincent Pinner, Timmy Lea, Robbie Box and there were even a few Budgies as well, not to mention the odd David Soul or P-M Glaser lookalike.Few had much respect for women and no doubt that will eventually be revisited upon us at the Pearly Gates. NB I actually had velvet flares in various colours, my personal favourites being sort of plum coloured and I actually did look a bit like Timmy Lea at that time.
