Aaron Martin is still on our submitted squad list I think, don't know where he is though, could be on loan, could be training with the youth, no idea. Don't think he'll get promoted to the first team group.
-
he would certainly have done better yesterday, you just could not do any worse.
-
With the chance of european football now gone from our league position I do wonder if we might make a bit of an effort in the Cup this season. Burnley is a bum draw though and we'd have to play our strongest available side I think (not our full first team but some won't be fit by then) Can't see us having any new players by Sat 4th Jan so if we put out our strongest available XI it might indicate that we're going for it.
-
depends whether he renews at Boro surely, don't know what the situation is with Steele (their number 1 right ?) or the greek wallah that's supposed to deputise for him. Big problem with PL rules, only 25 senior pros and no loans if you've got a keeper that can stand up by himself. If we'd been allowed a loan with our number 1 and 2 out we'd surely have gone for one.

Welbeck played well on Saturday, fast and lethal in front of goal, only fools would turn their nose up at him.
-
neither had to face the Argentine armada that we have now though. Don't think you can compare performances from era to era. That said Steve Mills is one of my all time fave Saints players. Tragic loss but at that epoque drink driving was very much a way of life amongst young men. They couldn't all afford chauffeur cars every time they put a foot out of the door in those days.

What is the point of argueing with you, these are the facts, accept them or don't, makes no difference to me.

doesn't figure in the build up galleries at all so probably not in training last week, certainly not at the end that counts anyway. Could be suspended by the club for getting involved in some sort of scuffle last week, could be injured or sick because that would explain his performance and early substitution last week. Could have gone back to Italy to get divorced or married or something, these lads seem to like doing that. Cavani just suddenly walked out of training at PSG last week to go back to Uruguay to get a divorce. Could be negociating a transfer who knows, don't really care, a very expensive acquisition for his contribution thus far.

As I have told you all many times Adkins was sacked mainly because of his handling of the GK situation. He insisted that KD was going to be our Number 1 and did not want another first line goalkeeper at the club to put him into the shadows. This is fact, I'm not going to explain how I know but it is.

Probably not no, both went on the summer tour, neither has progressed enough since then to be considered for first team duty. Expect some serious shipping out of the development group soon. Fonte could probably have played 10 minutes but I feel that in case of injury to Lovren or Jos Yoshida would have come on.
-
What Mauricio says about transfer activity and what will actually happen are two different things. We're obviously going to bring in a keeper and probably a central defender/left back. He's not going to say here's our shopping list come and get our money because we're desperate, that is not the Southampton Way.
-
probably because they're not good enough for the first team, I know very little about the development group, watched them twice but it was too atrocious to be repeated.
-
Apparently, the milk-man has only just cancelled Michael Owen's 3 pints a day there because the bottles were blocking up the drive and he had an outstanding bill for 3000 odd pints of gold top.

Fonte is injured, people need to stop disputing this fact, Clyne wasn't passed fit, you need to lay off asserting things that you just do not know. Shaw was assessed by the docs and wasn't allowed to play. Doesn't matter what he says on twitter he wasn't fit to play. No sane manager in the whole wide world would play Fox if he had a fit Shaw at his disposition. Same with Clyne, if he was fit he would have played at LB with Chambers on the right, but he wasn't so he didn't.
-
doubt if we'll ever see Lee again, certainly not in the PL anyway. He got some sort of reprieve but he'll be packed off back to Japan very soon, might even be on the same plane as Maya. Neither seem to have any future with us.
-
Fonte,Wanyama,Shaw,Clyne,Boruc how is that a couple then? Fonte is injured, he didn't train last week at all.
-
he's rooted to his line because virtually every time he comes off it he gets it wrong. Look at that incident early on at Toon (when Chambers cleared off the line) Gazza came out to the side of his left hand post and simply missed the ball leaving the Newcastle player to square it and another to have a tap in, fortunately cleared by Chambers as I said. Gazzaniga cannot possibly be the best we've got because if he is we are paying a couple of other dummies to do nothing at all. How can a lad who played in the U20 world cup be worse, answer me that.
-
Fonte might have been on the bench but if he was playable he'd have come on at some time in the game as he did against Villa. He's obviously not fit and was on the bench to make up the numbers, same as Yoshida otherwise the Chambers left/JWP right nonsense would make no sense. If Clyne had been fit he would have started or been on the bench, just because they're in training doesn't make them fit to play. Our bench yesterday consisted of 3 subs and 4 to make up the numbers, I don't know if there's a rule to say you must present 7 subs but yesterday might suggest that there is. Shaw was ill, he might think he could play, the docs thought otherwise. Once again I would refer you to the training gallery, no Yoshi or Fonte because they're walking wounded.
-
Once again you'd have to agree that no wins in 6 with 4 defeats and 5 losses in a row are one and the same thing apart from semantics, but our injury and illness situation is obviously serious and if we actually have 12 totally fit first team regulars available it would surprise me.
-
True but none of us know the real injury/illness situation at the club. Looking at a couple of performances yesterday you'd have to ask yourself if Shaw wasn't the only one with a sore throat or whatever it was. Davis and JRod, good at Toon, both pretty poor yesterday. Steve Davis is pretty regular but yesterday he just wasn't at the races.
-
I'm not a big Cork fan, Wanyama is superior which is why he's in the starters when fit. Morgan doesn't get forward in the same way when Cork is playing mind you don't think he's really fit either and with the left side of our defence yesterday the DM has to be a defender rather than an assistant attacker.
-
but Suarez would have sunk it with his eyes shut right? When you're England's number 9 or Saints number 7 you have to be as good as the best.
-
We have to play Cropper, if he makes one save he'll have done better than Gazzaniga yesterday. If he's not even as good as Gazza then he shouldn't be with the club.

Obviously meant to be our back up striker this season but Osvaldo's injuries and lapses have made that impossible. Lambert just doesn't last 90 minutes any more and as we've nothing much else just now he fades after an hour or so. Lee has been chucked into the bin again and that just leaves us with Gallagher in reserve when Osvaldo is absent. All these promising lads being introduced to the first team group is well and good but if MPo doesn't have confidence in them it just serves to veil the truth. Yesterday we were down to the bare bones and i'm sure that there were players on the bench to make up the numbers. Can't see us introducing Reed to the PL at any time soon, Isgrove seems to have disappeared from view, perhaps he's injured though and Guly isn't ready yet. Leaves us nothing else so what we put onto the pitch in each game of late is what we have. We have players who aren't fit on the pitch and on the bench, due to our card situation we have a half fit player holding back in case he gets another yellow, the situation is far from desirable and so we have to play Lambert.
-
except get us a decent reserve keeper last summer.
