  1. Dr Pangloss was a pronouncer of positivity in all things, didn't he finish up a syphilitic beggar ?
  2. Print aap3 and the club badge on that red dress and it could catch on amongst our lady supporters.
  3. Perhaps we had a player who Cortese wanted to keep but wouldn't stay past the end of January with NA in charge. Just a wild speculation you understand, not a known scenario. However 1 of our players was watched by a top top club at least 3 times in late December/January plus of course in our game against them which also fell into that period..
  4. why, is he afraid they'll run off with it and sell it on E-Bay ?
  5. well Punch definitely signed for another 3 years or so but I don't know about the 5 year plan. Probably correct though because all the recently extended players are quoted about club ambition.
  6. but wasn't it also said that no promoted team having lost their first 4 games had ever survived or something similar?
  7. If we can go 1 up in the first 10 minutes or so they will cave in because they'll know that they're relegated (if they don't already). The longer it goes at 0-0 the more difficult it will become for us.
  8. Jay's incessant running at defences and his willingness to work back and defend since MP has given him his real chance will not have escaped notice. A really changed player of late, he likes to run at defences and he looks as if he's got a bit of a brain so MP's approach seems to suit him well.
  9. Other than Joe Allen I expect he meant then. On that subject a classic case of contracts meaning diddly squat, Allen signed until 2015 with Swansea last seasn but was off like a bolt of lightning when a "big club" and his ex-manager came calling. Football is a game where statements about loyalty and not doing something mean very little.
  10. expect they can if they sell Carroll to West Ham, might get 8 million or so. If not there's always a loan from the BVI against 2019's PL receipts.
  11. right didn't know that the nominations were known already, probably because I read threads from last to first and don't always get to the bottom before posting, must cut that out.
  12. reckon Martinez might get it.
  13. They're all being tracked, probably a bit less now that we're not very likey to get relegated. We shoud have a big clubs chief scouts picture gallery on this board, then when you see them at SMS and elsewhere you'll know someone is being "watched". I'll start you off Seen at a fair few of our games this season apparently, saw him myself at the Everton home game
  14. we will have to see when the group for the S Am tour is announced. Personally I'm still sceptic but then I think DD is an absolute knob capable of the greatest "aneries". As long as a player is touted as the next ".....", fill in name of one of his 1998 cronies, he'll get the nod. Benzema gets a game despite the fact that he hasn"t scored since the Great War because his mate Zidane is something in the mechanism at Real, likewise Pogba who showed that he hasn't the maitrise for big games as yet. Don't get me started on Matuidi either, totally readable, when he's going to kick the ball in a direction he always dips the knee on the other side.
  15. realistically they'd have to beat Wigan,Toon,Stoke and Reading in that then, all good for us. If they should have a miracle end of season they'll just take one of our other rivals down.
  16. When you've only got 57£ a week to live on that's what you have to do isn't it? Unless you like sponging from parents and grannies and stuff that is. When I was a grad student I was pretty poor, living in West London on not much, you get used to it in the end.. What aways gets me when people moan about their meagre disposable revenues is when they light up about 3 fags whilst they're doing it.
  17. If anything the majority of the lads just looked pleased enough but exhausted. Many of them spent a fair old while saluting the fans so perhaps a bit of their exhuberance was spent on that. They have to get in the ice baths straight after the game as well I think.
  18. they did indeed and then sold most of their players. don't know much about Sané, wouldn't have thought he was a PL class defender though. only two players remotely worth looking at at Bordeaux just now but as we need neither a right back nor a striker don't see them being targets for us.
  19. 70K a month would be far too much for the utility of the bloke. Still fans do like to grossly exagerate when they're talking about their favourites pay cheque. The figures are roughly worked out by journalists per match and then that's often extrapolated into a per week figure. Most of the players reported on '100K a week" are probably on about half of that.
  20. tbh don't think he's reffed a Saints game at any time in the recent past, last couple of seasons that is.
  21. And a big wedge of GD to boot. We are still a virtual 5 points clear of Wigan and Villa. The situation at the top of the table will induce Citeh to try to crush every side they play cos it's going to get tight up at 2/3/4 and 5. Wigan or Villa will go down, Reading and QPR are already gone, no matter what they do they won't get enough points to survive.
  22. Sunderland-Villa, Wigan-Villa and Tottenham-Chelsea will as likely as not decide the third and final relegation place. Villa are still my favourites to fill it.
  23. What again ? :smug:
  24. like they're going to escape relegation with draws. They have to win 5 out of 7 at least so there are no no-win matches for them. They have to come looking for us and for a Pochettino side that's the equivalent of the famous Inspector Harry catch phrase "Go ahead, make my day".
