Saw that, Chelsea will still be a major force this season. Luiz looked 50 times the player Mikel is in midfield and he's a defender. Mind you when Torres sinks a header like that after 3 minutes you kinda believe it's your day.
-
doesn't have more goals than Fletcher or Benteke and they're our rivals.
-
8511 actually, get it right or they'll say you're a nutjob when the world doesn't end in 8000 days time.

obviously it's not Lambert who's going to test a player like Gardener and the midfield 2 seemed to be under instruction not to go too far forward. There were a couple of occasions when they really had to look for a pass, because of lack of movement , when going on themselves would have been more evident. -
perhaps you've hit on something there, I mean how is RL supposed to know we need a goal if the fans don't tell him so. Yep that must be it, it's the fans fault that we can't score.

TBH Rose, Cuellar, O' Shea and Gardener is a fair old back 4 -

pity he didn't stick another diving header like that defensive one he made in the first half on to it. Netbuster it would have been -
err, it's in about 2036 now I think....so 8000 odd?

can only be because we're trying to get shot of him at 00.01 hrs 1st Jan 2013. As I said yesterday he knows what to do, just not how to do it under pressure.

Clyne just simply got skinned for their goal, think he'd been working forward (have to check the highlights for that) and when they came at us down his side he just got done for pace 30 yards out. -

thought we did, he just seemed to struggle with the pace and conditions, even when he got "brought down" the ball had gone. -
i'd drop Lambert, Baird and Hangeland are too good for him, put JRod on point and put Davis or Guly into midfield. Fulham will have Sidwell back I think and he makes a lot of difference to them in the middle, showed yesterday.
-
De Ridder was introduced yesterday because we were just not getting down the wings at all, everything was going down the middle (IIRC anyway) Clyne started brightly down the right but tailed off after getting skinned for their goal. Plus with Sessegnon on his side he had enough to do. Shaw wasn' getting forward much at all. For some reason or other NA had obviously told Cork and Schneiderlin not to maraud farther forward than about 25/30 yards out, perhaps because the defensive attributes of Lallana would be missed.
-
probably because he just won't accept that. Wouldn't doubt anyone who told me that JRod was bought to replace Lambert and not understudy him, just hasn't panned out that way.

So far has Ramirez been good value @14 million?
Window Cleaner replied to Mr X's topic in The Saints
Mayuka, J Rod, Ramirez = about 22 million £, perhaps we could have gotten a striker capable of deplacing Lambert for that, ie one who hits the back of the net about every 2 games without getting penalties. Our spending was unwise and disproportionate, you've just got to admit that. -
what would he want with Shaw when he has Kieran Gibbs ?
-
50p and they can have him , let's see what we paid 7 million £ for a bit more often.
-
We did put in a few shots early on, including one from Ramirez that looked handy if not vicious, but Mignolet looked pretty assured with whatever we sent in. Not a bad keeper. However we sent in a lot of high stuff to the box, with the conditions a lot of skiddy, nasty, low stuff might have produced more results because between Mignolet,Cuellar and O'Shea our high balls were just a waste of time.

Pretty good summary, we are struggling to score because Lambert has been sussed and defenders like Cuellar and O'Shea with hundreds of PL games to their credit find him pretty easy to deal with. Watched Ramirez pretty closely yesterday, now it would seem to me that he expects to waltz through defences as he may have done in Italy but PL defenders are made of sterner stuff. We didn't seem to be getting down the wings as well as usual yesterday either. Think JRod may be injured a bit and it wouldn't surprise me at all if we don't have at least 1 player unsettled by transfer projects. -

didn't think he was that great but certainly better than Clyne. Just Yoshi and Jose had good games for me. -

It's not as easy as that, we only have 9 home games left and we're woeful away from home, 3 points from 7 games. We will probably ultimately regret the 4 points gifted to our rivals by Gazzaniga. With those points on the counter now it wouldn't be so bad at all. -

we'll get more out of JRod on the left than we ever will from Mayuka who seems to be an idiotic wasteful signing -

Sobering thought...we now probably need to win at least 2/3 of our home games to stay up. Only 9 left now. 12 away.Means beating either Citeh,Chelsea,Arsenal or Everton. Think the players may have realised that when we went behind today. -
and a very nice little goal it was too. Fulham are dire though, hope that stay that way at least until after Wednesday.

Clyne got skinned in the move leading to their goal today, he's good but a really good winger can turn him inside out as of yet.
