  1. dear oh dear you'll have the local branch of the protection of minorities all in a tizz any minute now.
  2. When they started letting soft sods and women go to football.
  3. Golden rule: If you can do it with a fag in your hand or mouth it's not a sport it's a pastime.
  4. Chaplow and Lallana are midfielders.
  5. By the by how do today's taxation levels compare with those of the 80's? I used to earn about 30K ish in 83 and I'm pretty sure I paid a real lot of tax but then I think "company cars" were pretty heavily taxed in those days as well. I have a vague notion that you paid on the car and on a set sum of the "personal mileage" as well. I think I might have been taxed at about 40p in the £ after personal allowance in those days.
  6. Easy win for Saints; 4-1 ish
  7. I hate Coke.....is it politically correct to hate Coke and say so nowadays?
  8. Rikesh...doesn't that mean big balls or something like that, you know like Peter means "the rock"
  9. They were probably big,big fans of Cliff Huxford and Docker Walker...truth is probably neither of them would get a game for Totton or Eastleigh nowadays.
  10. It's November or are they trying to force Thanksgiving on to us now so that we can speak of "The Holidays"and spend more money from September onwards.
  11. To be honest you can understand people of 35/40 years of age or more being called Richard Head. Dîckhead is a fairly recent insult, there a new ones around everyday or so it would seem,I never used the term in my youth and be sure of it if it was in my arsenal in the school playground or the uni refectory I would have used it.Wouldn't think it came into frequent use before about 71/72 and then only probably in the US. True the French equivalent "tête de noeud" was about early in the 20th century but as it's not a literal translation I doubt it influenced the origin of the anglo-saxon version.
  12. And exactly who could we loan them?? Dickson I suppose, after that there are only unproven kids left in the locker. Aha I forgot Holmes, could be an option won't get any game time here barring a major injury crisis.
  13. 50 times as much?? I should be on over a million a year then, must ask for a pay rise.
  14. From what I saw of Lallana on Saturday we could well do without him on that form. But then I guess he's still sub par from the last injury.
  15. And they're selling us the best one? must be hard up or deluded about footballing ability.
  16. Especially as there were probably no more (percentage wise) gay Brighton supporters present than on the Saint's side. Nobody inside the ground was really insulted and nobody outside heard it.It's just mindless jibing at football, you call the opposition's supporters things that you think will irk them. Why do people not get arrested for insulting the ref? In a game like Saturday's there'd be about 3 people left in the ground after half time and they'd hold the magistrates court in Watt's Park.
  17. I presume this is the same as the marathon "wall" which of course doesn't exist in reality,it's just the point where your biochemistry lets you down. You can train and condition yourself for it not to occur.Where do most teams hit "the wall" injuries, suspension, loss of form in individuals I'd guess. So if you have sufficient players to get past that then the wall might just not happen.Manchester Utd don't hit walls neither do Chelsea (well until this season and that's because they've f*cked about with the team too much due to Abramovitch just not being able to keep his chequebook in his pocket). Also older players tend to lose there legs at some stage or other but apart from Kelvin we don't have any 30+ first team players do we? Most of our lads have pretty decent stats on injuries as well and lastly but foremost we have the best midfield group in the division and probably outside of the top6 in the premier league.
  18. Well yes, it's just another subject on which one cannot express one's opinion in public, which is the point I made in the first place. It's OK to say "I hate Spinach" no law against that but there are things you just can't say because it's illegal to do so. So successive gouvernments have chosen subjects for you on which you have or have not the freedom of speech. I have no beef either way, I don't even live in the UK but I don't like being told what to do or what not to say. Now discrimination is something else as is inciting violence or hatred but to arrest a couple of silly boys at a football match for chants that weren't premeditated or even offensiv is a bit of a strange one.
  19. Millwall aren't even average, they've done nothing since the wouldn't give us a few bob for Puncheon, preferring to blow it on some no-hoper from Bourbnemouth instead. Wouldn't be surprised if they get relegated especially as doncaser seem to be acquiring a few decent players albeit on short term loans.Beating Millwall means absolutely nothing.
  20. I presume that they feel that their "wall" is already behind them. Looking at some of the W-D-L counts it can only be that way. The thing is that this league is pretty homogenous and that Saints are a cut above it,mainly because we have a side that didn't cost trillions and that every player in it knows how to play football, and more important do exactly what the manager asks him to do.Football is a simple game and if players can't or won't do as they're asked all the money in the universe won't help them. I looked at Chelsea-Liverpool yesterday and you'd have to admit that for 200 million or whatever it is Chelsea are pretty average and Liverpool for a bit less only had Suarez to show for it.
  21. 3-3-2 away form over the rest of the season (15 away games) would give us another 22 away points, leaving us needing to get about 24 from our remaining 14 home games.Saints now need a bit more than 8 points from every 4 home games because of the fantastic start we've had.
  22. I'll have to wait until I have 94 minutes of tangible evidence on Kettle to prove that. Walton was dire, inexcusably dire on Saturday and to my mind Brighton suffered the consequences more than Saints. If he hadn't been such an absolute knob with the first penalty Tarricco wouldn't have sworn at him and wouldn't have been sent off,it's bad enough having a penalty wrongly given (for that incident) against you but to be punished with a sending off because of it just doubles the wrongness of the affair. If you look at the gallery on the OS you'll see Saints players committing fouls on Brighton players in pictures 6,7 and 8,doubt if any of those were punished.Picture 9 shows a Brighton foul, doubt if thatgot punished either. That ref was unacceptably bad and that's all.
  23. Well it's a metaphysical question isn't it.I'd guess that quite a few people find the idea of gayness revolting but it seems that you're not allowed to say so(or at least in public) now.Freedom of speech yes but not about taboo subjects.
  24. Surely that's just a statement of personal opinion. I dislike my next door neighbour but doubt if I'd get arrested for saying so.
  25. Completely deluded(not surprising for a West Ham fan): Morgan and Cork are both already far better players at 22 and improving than Nolan will ever be.If they're counting on Nolan to get them back to the PL they're in for a long wait.
