  1. Gung ho batting not working today, 30/4. All caught.
  2. But you have to admit that if the player is visiting Staplewood we must have permission from Swansea to try to entice him here meaning that we've agreed a fee with them. Seeing that they supposedly turned down over 40 million from Everton that would be serious money for us. Don't see where we'd get it from otherwise.
  3. If only it could mean that the buy out is going through and we're buying players of serious value. Can't quite see how we'd finance 40 odd million otherwise. Unless.....................
  4. And how much were Swansea saying they want for him? Wasn't it about 45 million ? Perhaps it's a homonyme.
  5. He won't go at that price and we'll see what happens afterwards then. Everybody should be content with that solution. We keep a player we don't want to sell so we're obviously confident of the outcome.
  6. Don't see us getting 75 million for him. 50 million or Liverpool will probably move along to other targets, if they haven't already..
  7. We didn't get 15 million for Victor, think we got about 12 and had to hand Celtic a slice of that. Barkley is different, if he wants to play WC 2018 he'll need to perform this season, England aren't short of candidates in his role. So either some other club pays whatever Everton actually want for him or he'll have to back down and play for Everton.
  8. Wasn't he sacked because his kind of football didn't please the fans. If so it just goes to show that the club is run by idiots. Only finishing 8th, well that's at least a reason, not pleasing the fans isn't.
  9. I think Spurs probably want to be sure of being able to offload Sissoko before buying any other expensive midfielders.
  10. Well then they should be beware. ENIC and Tavistock are far solider than any fly by night Asian that they're likely to get as an owner. I really don't see that Lewis and Levy would have any interest in selling.
  11. Why ? Their owner is already of the mega rich of this planet.
  12. Don't think we're really a club that takes a great interest in having players on loan from other prem clubs. Was Bertrand the last one ? Seems that Everton have already offloaded a few players, I think that so far they've got more in than they've paid out and there's still Barkley to go. Perhaps not on salaries though, then again they have a new sponsor, no doubt a fix up by their owner, who's giving them far more than Chang.
  13. Not Latin but that would be an act of Nemesis, Greek Goddess of Retribution
  14. Don't really see Liverpool persisting with this. The price is too high and we don't want to sell anyway. So they've either to make Klopp get along with Sakho, which in my view is the most sensible option, or find another top CB available for a reasonable price. My money would be on 40/45 million for Varane.
  15. West Ham have had a bid of about 24 million for Arnatovic accepted apparently. He is so a typical West Ham player.
  16. Accumulate money ? We seem to spend roughly what we receive and our owner doesn't have enough to give us any more. The fans always want us to keep our top players and yet spend the kind of sum we would in theory receive for them. As I said yesterday we are what we are, 8th in the PL. We made 6th because we had a pretty good season and Chelsea and Liverpool screwed up completely. In today's football to make the very top your owner needs a lot of money and the will to spend it on the club. When we get that we'll be top 6 candidates, until then............ We could have made Europe by winning the League Cup but we came up against a top, top side in the final and didn't quite make it.
  17. So, they can afford it, 104 million from the PL last season plus somewhere in the region of 90 million parachute payments if they don't get back up. They've made a few sales as well and had a couple of loaners that they won't have to pay in the Championship. Transfers between UK clubs are also at a premium just now because of the rapid fall in the value of the humble pound sterling. Probably down about 14% on this time last year; Makes your average Spanish striker at 10 million euros a bit expensive.
  18. So Arsenal are thinking about a bid for VvD then, expect that'll be turning up in about 5 years then.
  19. Think they've already started, didn't they play Linfield last week and are due to play them again this week ?
  20. Hasn't Reed gone out on loan already? Norwich I think.
  21. Depends how much it will cost them really.
  22. oh my, however did we finish 8th last season then if we are missing 3 quality players. We could spend 60 or 70 million on the positions you say, we probably wouldn't finish any higher in the league though. We are what we are and only really serious money will change that.
  23. Wait until you see him play a real game, he is pretty average. At a push Targett on the left, Bertrand on the right, think we did that on a couple of occasions didn't we.
  24. Gardos, Pied, Long and Clasie. None of them have the attributes to make keeping them at the club an obvious choice. Surprised that we're not trying to move them all on anyway, perhaps we are.
  25. The drug ban was totally messed up, there was no need to suspend him because the plant product Higenamine wasn't on the banned list and not really part of any group of products on the banned list. Liverpool were of course miffed because he didn't tell them he was using the fat burner, don't doubt that the French FA knew though, it's not the first time that they've acted independently.
