By giving him a new contract that he thought acceptable ? He's a Puel binky. Much in the same way that Martina is a Koeman binky. -

Don't be so sure, I've seen a lot of Jeremy Pied and I'd not rate him a great deal higher than Martina. He was a CP stopgap whim signing, if he'd been in any way desirable as a player Nice would have kept him. -
He's not for sale ? Same as up until now.

Take whatever is on offer, be a knob for half a season and join Liverpool in January.. Not sure that it happens a whole lot but I'm sure I could find at least one case like that in the history of football.
-
Some need to get their heads around the fact that with no European Competition this season we aren't playing at a level sufficient to attract players like Sigurdsson. Not to mention the fact that we don't have a spare 45 million £ either. Look at the other non-European sides, are any of them attracting 40 million + players ? I don't think so.
-
It was the right thing to do, you could see straight away from that game that he was pretty clueless about modern football. He may have taken us to the play-offs but we didn't win them now did we. With the investment we shouldn't have needed the play-off lottery, automatic promotion was programmed.

Last I heard Neymar is staying put and PSG are putting all of their energy (and no doubt money) into the pursuit of Alexis Sanchez.
-
In fact that Ipswich game was a pivotal point in Saints history. If Lowe had called Burley into his office on the following monday morning and sacked him as he should have, our whole future may have been different from that point. Burley was an awful manager and led us to our demise.

The manager has been here 5 minutes, I doubt that his appraisal counts for very much at all just yet. Why for all we know VvD might still be here long after the manager has gone.

So why exactly are they still here then, you have to keep repeating this question until you find an answer. Keeping dead wood is so Saints that it's not true. -

So we need 5 or 6 keepers to make sure that one is good enough is that it ? We have FF, Taylor, McCarthy, Gazza and no doubt some Unders keepers. If none of them is good ernough we need to ship them all out and start over don't we. Anyway FF is number 1 and will no doubt remain so, the rest are just a drag on the finances. -
Aren't Sky set to be taken over by err Fox is it ? Perhaps something will change but whilst there's an avidity for football in the Far East I can't see it happening in the short term. When China has it's own equivalent perhaps they'll not want to see ours so much.
-
Well I think most of us had kind of dismissed all that anyway.
-
That's as maybe but we could have obtained it with VvD perhaps. Everton might have played a bit better at the end of the season if they didn't already have their ticket in their pocket. I believe Koeman spoke of it in an interview. Might have even ousted the Arse and I would have loved that.
-
PL Games with VvD (21) = 29 points (I think) PL games without VvD (17) =17 points so we average 0.39 of a point more per game with VvD than without. Difference would have made up about 7 points over the 17 games he missed so we would have still been 8th I think. So like the participation of Indiana Jones in Raiders of the Lost Ark, his presence actually changes nothing at the end of the day. League Cup might have been different though and that was a ticket to Europe that Utd didn't need anyway..
-
But he's simply not available, well if you listen to Krueger and Reed anyway.
-
Fantasy football I expect. Van Dijk is worth no more than Kyle Walker so 50 million. We aren't selling him anyway apparently so the sum is purely academic.
-
What Naby Keita ? Was just replying to post about Leipzig refusing 70 million for him.
-
They should take the 80 million for Coutinho, good but erratic on occasions and a weeny bit fragile.
-
Perhaps Liverpool haven't actually offered 70 million. The figures you see in the press are usually vastly erroneous. They've probably offered about 45 with all sorts of bonuses and staged payments. It's like Neymar to PSG for nigh on 200 million but it's on the never never, 80 million down, 6 years at 20 million each.
-
Perhaps not a very well thought out presentation for a bloke who's currently flogging Opel Insignias.
-
I am not suggesting 35 million, that's what Arsenal will probably offer, it's what they do. Van Dijk is not going to be sold for 70 million so we'd just as well let him ask Liverpool just how much they're willing to pay for him, let him be disillusioned once and for all and get back to playing.

I think Mitchell took the magic kryptonite out of it and substituted a bit of green glass..............
