  1. Indeed it isn't, adds tons to the value of the player during his absence. Why, I remember when Chaplow was injured, every game that went by without him partcipating sent him a bit further along the road to being the nec'est plus ultra footballer of all time. Then when he did actually get a game he was dire as you like, probably got sent off as well knowing him..
  2. Ah, they've not noticed that ITK on this forum stands for It's Total Krap then.
  3. Been discussed on this very forum, probably about 10 days ago. Doesn't mean that there is any substance to said rumours though.
  4. No doubt but as he wouldn't even consider joining us at this time it's all a bit academic.
  5. FDJ's tour group this year is as intriguing as their attitude; They put out a way out of condidition Pinot who just seemed to be there for the ride and the public effect. Demare won his stage and got green but then just fell away. Commentators suggested lack of sleep on a hot night in a hotel with no air conditioning but that just sounds like a palliative excuse to me. Something very wrong with the FDJ this tour.
  6. 4 weeks sounds well short to me. Collarbone is usually fairly quick but the pelvic injury could take a while to heal. Porte says he hopes to be back in the bunch "by the end of the year".
  7. How many more do you want then ? We have err 5 or 6 blokes who are supposed to be strikers, what is needed is to get what is necessary out of them really isn't it; Teach Long not to be offside, keep Gabbadiani and Auustin fit and integrate Gallagher, we have enough strikers.
  8. But there are apparently 15 million or so of do-able add ons and Rooney, anyway it's not their money is it. When you're selling a 75 million + player there aren't thousands of possible destinations so you kind of have to take whatever you can get if the player is set on leaving either today for a fee or in 2 years time for sod all. Lukaku seems to me to be a PL only type player who'd not really interest the heavy hitters anywhere south of the Isle of Wight.
  9. They'll not get 50 million and I'd doubt that even the 40 million from Leicester was a straight up , cash jobby.
  10. Although he's a typical West Ham player, bad tempered, erratic thug.
  11. Don't expect us to win the PL but I expect us to win games and I really don't care how that's done. Now me, I like a hard fought, defensive win far more than a 6-5 gung ho defeat. To me football is about winning, same as any other sport. When you can't win, don't lose.
  12. Game starts at 18.30 local according to the ASSE. Says 5 BST on Saints site, so seems to have been put back half an hour then.
  13. Wagg thought they had a decent crowd on Friday but that they (Glamorgan) let the people down. They made up for it with a really big score at Arundel yesterday though. Still it's Arundel innit.
  14. Ah that's a bit further, in fact much further, still go though.
  15. Well then I shall be there.
  16. When I started watching Saints it was about today's public rec standard. The supporters didn't go to be entertained, they went to get behind their team, sing, shout and let off steam a bit after 50 hours or so of hard graft in a factory or the docks during the week. They went to see their team win, any old way was just fine. And so it is with me today, as long as we win the manner is fine by me, Respice Finem, as my old school motto said.
  17. It's not an entertainement industry, it's football.
  18. I'd not be surprised if we make very few changes this summer. We're not selling "top players" so we'll not have a great deal of squad room for senior players. No Europe so no extra strain there really so I do wonder what we actually need right now.
  19. Was a great little knock but without Afridi's 4 wickets we may have been in difficulty. Our innings seemed to get lost in the middle a bit, pretty good start, lost wickets quickly and then progressed in singles until McManus shook it up a bit.
  20. And to think the tour used to be won or lost on the big climbs, now it's on the descents that time is gained or lost.
  21. What VvD race would that be then, Les said we aren't selling so it's a non starter really. Whether VvD is content to stay or not is something completely different.
  22. But it's Everton so what does an average Saints fan actually care anyway. They have money, they have a new sponsor who's going to give them more than Chang beer so let them spend it however they want. We shall see when the football actually starts, probably in about a fortnight come Wednesday for them.
  23. There was no precision on that really, just 10 million € for Rooney. Seems to be just based on the article from what I presume is today's Guardian anyway.
  24. L'Equipe says about 10 million for the Rooney part of the deal, I am not sure however that their source isn't just the Guardian. Also apparently Chelsea wouldn't pay Raiola's extortionate cut but were ready to match everything else, price+ player.
