Strachan - keep the players -sack the coaches!
Window Cleaner replied to david in sweden's topic in The Saints
I believe I have suggested in the recent past that our coaching staff needs serious reflexion. I don't think they have the nous to encourage the players to change their style of play for different types of opposition. If you hire Brighton's coaches you get Brighton(s performances, Downes is best known as a defensive coach, our defence is alright but sometimes our attack isn't varied. -
I really doubt if NC wanted us to push for the play offs, I think he wanted us to be in the play-offs, it's true that we're in them if you add on the 10 points but only on goal difference. I doubt that the story is correct but I can see that the grounds are there for it to be.Now apparently we need to spend even more money for next season and I doubt that that will go down well. If I have a criticism of AP this season it is with his handling of the fringe players, I don't think he's done enough to either get shot of them or integrate them. Some of them have ongoing contracts and obviously aren't in his plans, so I'd think he needs to deal with that before he gets any more serious money to spend.

The Official Summer Transfers and HCDAJFU Thread

Played Once would be more exact. -
AP said in one of his interviews a couple of weeks back that Seaborne's defending still needs a lot of work although his composure on the ball is good.

When I was looking through the Exeter forum that had a link on one of our hreads today there were idiots who were asking how a "bankrupt club" could afford to pay a million for Lambert.

We get about 40% of the total profit after all expenses are paid but none of the broadcasting and advertising rights.Ticket sales are recovered by the Football League for all finals of League Competitions. Their Article 57 covers it fairly well.

Don't think we'll be very far off, apart from capital expenditure on the training ground and stuff. We've had good crowds for a whole lot of matches and have no debt to service. I'd say we're just about in the black for the season. There will be a big demand for STs and nothing to wedge up for other than players and costs. If we'd had this season's success last season (if you see what I mean) I very much doubt that we'd have had to go into admin.

think we've been through this several times recently. It would seem that Markus does not care to participate in this sort of dong measuring contest for the titilation of the masses.

Sighs, more joke bowling, more joke batting, still at least we'll maintain our 100% record, the University game apart that is.
-
It might just be the only ground name that fits as well, everybody hated Nottingham Forest, not because they did but it was just a good fit to the old "We hate Nottingham Forest, we hate ***** too etc
-
Notts are about 130/5 off 18 overs, Herath got smashed about a bit seemingly, 38 conceded from just 4 overs, still it's a virtual 20/20 bash.
-
they all miss easy balls anyway, look at that O'Sullivan-Selby fiasco the other day, there was one frame near the end where they both missed a handful of "easy" shots, down to pressure I guess.

Lets face it there will be good sides in our league next year come what may because there will still be 3 of the 6 sides currently above us plus the relegated sides plus the dark horses. We"ll still walk it though as long as we have the nucleus of this year's first eleven available most of the time.

Brett Ormerod goal for them I think.
-
Penalty ref?? should be, shirt definitely being held, looks like he's in the box..refs needs to clamp down on this as instructed by FIFA most games would finish about 10-8 with 5 or 6 penalties a side though. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/2734579.stm A bad player can be the equal of a good player when he's got a grip on his shirt.

but Lallana was here before, started getting regular games under Pearson I think. Burley however totally ignored him, probably out on loan somewhere at that time gaining experience.
-
Ah Rugby, the only game where you can see doctors, barristers and bankers knocking 6 bales of crap out of each other in front of 50000 screaming halfwits.
-
Exactly Pat, I made this point yesterday and was seriously decried for it. If the game means nothing then say so or say nothing. Do not say "there will be no let up" in the preceding days and then field a sh*t side "to see what it's worth". Come clean or say nothing.
-
But the catering is world class though.
-
yep, usually plays on the right side of the defensive pairing, today he was on the left.
-
Depends what we're recruiting for really, if we're signing a starter no problem, if we're after signing a back up player it might not be so easy. Good players want to play...all of the time.
-
Still I don't think Millwall were any better, haven't looked at their side but losing at Tranmere was a bit unexpected. The real losers today are Exeter, they're none too complementary on their forum either but their manager gets most of the stick.
-
We probably don't need another Lambert clone, what we need is our full strength midfield to make things happen differently if needs be. We need to get a consistent midfielder to either replace Hammond or provide competition for the places because without Morgan we're just a weeny bit predictable.

AP was a bit critical over "some of the younger players" in his interview. It was a strange interview in some ways very direct on some things and evasive over others.
-
what do you think AP meant by saying that Lloyd James contract was a "difficult situation"(or whatever he said exactly? Didn't see him on any of the out of contract lists.
