And you're dead wrong thankfully.

Ummm that is rubbish. I could see the Pinnacle bid was a joke from 10 minutes of Google and that was *after" the credence added by MLT backing it. There is no question MLT made a big mistake in jumping in to bed with the Pinnacle chancers - I suspect he was simply taken in just like most people on here (and who were also taken in by Wilde). Having said that, MLT is a true legend, the best player I've ever watched and he'll forever be one of (most likely the) greatest ever Saint. We shouldn't confuse his playing days and his poor judgment in backing Pinnacle - it is clear he still loves the club and just made a mistake. In the grand scheme of things, it matters little.

So the worst case scenario is they get to exactly what we're experienced! Our -10 points and lack of decent signings hardly inspire we we're going straight back up. And Poopey still have a squad capable of staying in the Premier League. I hope you're right but I would only give that scenario a 10% chance of happening. We need 2 promotions and a relegation for that to happen in 4 years.. I honestly can't see us in the Premier League in that time, nor can I see Poopey in League 1.
-
I hate to agree with a Skate but you're right. Most fans posting in this thread are seriously deluded and seriously over estimating the chances of Poopey going bust. It simply won't happen, sadly.

Saints v Millwall Post Match Reactions
Red and White Army replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
Not for you to see though, you don't go to games. Don't comment on it if you weren't there FFS. Idiot. -
I would take Poopey's position, every time. They're in the Premiership. We're in League 1 on -10 points. Simple as that. ML could decide to re-leverage and sell Saints in a heartbeat. I suspect in six months times both teams will be mid-to lower table and we would swap playing Gillingham for playing Man Utd and Liverpool any day of the week.

Says the man who obsessed about Rupert Lowe for years and years.

None of this surprises me - the warning signs were all there right from the word go - amateurish in/out stuff at the start, using a nobody front group with a 50 quid website, refusing to detail anything about the plans, backers or bid in any shape and sloppy execution with the weeks of "will they won't they" prior to exclusivity. All this was there, and the smart people on this forum questioned it and were shot down by the chav majority. My only surprise is why this is a surprise to so many people.

I suspect Most 12 year olds are a lot smarter than you. If Crouch had not backed Wilde, then we wouldn't be in this mess at all.
-
The trouble is, I don't trust your judgment. I doubt you doubted Wilde and Pinnacle either! While I don't place ML in their category - not by a long shot - I am all for transparency and honesty in dealings with the fans.
-
I'll be there, and I think we're in a much better position financially now than last season... but I would need details before I swallow this "debt free" argument hook line and sinker. Some of us called out Wilde and Pinnacle well before the rest of the fans caught on - ML isn't in this category but it doesn't hurt to have all the facts rather than unquestioningly accepting everything we are told.
-
We have had a history of being lied to by our directors and owners - I would like to see some firm evidence. It would be easy to claim the club is debt free while having a special purpose vehicle that assumes the clubs liababilities... perhaps the stadium payments? Such vehicle's are very common for tax and lower funding costs (indeed, we had them before) and we tried to claim the club and parent company were not linked for purposes of not getting docked points. I would like to see irrefutable evidence rather than a single line in the Echo before I am completely convinced. After all, we have had Mike Wilde claiming that he would bring in millions of quid investment as people were queuing up to invest after RL had left (the first time), and all sorts of jiggerypokery from the executive board. Fool us once, shame on you... fool us twice shame on us.
-
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn. You are like a dog with a bone, aren't you?

I am also interested in knowing if the debt has been wiped out. I have heard many people say it has been, but I have not seen an offical statement or independent confirmation of this.

How damaging do you think the Pinnacle fiasco will be..?
Red and White Army replied to Thedelldays's topic in The Saints
I see he backed both Wilde and Lynam - his judgement is clearly terrible and he has directly contributed to the demise of SFC through his installation of Wilde and Hone.... a mistake he was on the verge of repeating by backing the potless wonders in the Pinnacle bid. -

If he had not have funded the no mark Pinnacle group, then we could have been taken over much earlier and be in a much stronger position. -
Weren't you one of them Duncan? As I remember, only myself and later GM were sounding notes of caution on Pinnacle. I was shouted down by the tide of people wanting to believe.... exactly the same people who got taken in by Wilde a few years back. It was obvious right from the very start of exclusivity that something was badly wrong with Pinnacle, and to be fair to Fry he realised quickly too.
-
Do shut up Duncan, there's a good chap.

Another Lowe apology from the press
Red and White Army replied to Weston Saint's topic in The Saints
Then I hope our fans will accord the same respect to Rupert Lowe, who got us out of the millstone around our neck called the Dell, gave us our highest league finish for years, reached an FA Cup final and took us into Europe. -
How do you know we have no debt left? I would be very surprised if our creditors did not retain some interest in the club going forward.

Bookies odds on next Southampton manager
Red and White Army replied to Matthew Le God's topic in The Saints
Nope! -
Then what? You are being your usual pessimistic whining self which is why everyone hates you. Pardew sounds like a great appointment to me.
-
Hardly the first time though, to be honest!

Says the man who willed us into administration and League 1 because he predicted it. You're a piece of work, you really are. Says the man who thinks his sh1t doesn't smell.
