  1. Always thought HCDAJFU when it was clear Lambert's performances were tailing off. Another target man, would provide good competition for Pelle.
  2. I was an advisor to a Secretary of State, worked on an independent review commissioned by the PM, among other things. HTH.
  3. Les, did i claim to know the specifics of this case, whether there are benefits sanctions targets in place? No my point, a general one, is that pinning responsibility on a few loose canons on the ground is the apologist's favourite ruse. While you're asking, yes, I do have Whitehall policy experience (though not with DWP), so have seen first hand the pressures and conflicts that operate at the nexus of policy and implementation. As an aside, it is worth noting that the Jobcentre Plus network is very uniform and integrated compared with other parts of the public sector so much so that it has been the laboratory for all kinds of policy experiments in area of performance incentives. One consequence is that it is relatively easier to steer, should politicians and policymakers so desire.
  4. He's barking up the wrong tree if he thinks the club is going to make any concessions. Btw, what is the policy on dogs - how many places are reserved for them? Where in the ground are they situated? And are Assistance Dogs permitted?
  5. Sure that's not just the draft, something else SWT trains are known for? Virgin trains, by contrast, like to crank up the heat which is lovely when the poorly ventilated toilets have been collecting war trophies the whole day.
  6. Pal, you haven't got a f**king clue how policy or the policy-making process works.
  7. What drives recording levels? And why is Hampshire strong in this regard?
  8. Just wondering what the set up is - whether you have to be in the system or affiliated to an agency/paper, whether anyone can ask questions etc?
  9. Do you even have a press pass with your name on it?
  10. A pretty cûntîsh thing to say as all success is collective on one level. Still it is arguable that the influx of transfer fees that enabled our rebuild can be attributed to MP's reign. Lallana, Chambers, Shaw and Lovren all saw their value rise in less than 18 months - sometimes by staggering multiples. How much would have somebody here valued Lallana in Jan/Feb 2013, bearing in mind the stick he was getting? Needless to say, profits generated in the transfer market need to be reinvested and gelled seamlessly. That, more anything, has been the backbone of our success and has nothing to do with Poch. If anyone trivialises this feat, just look at his very ow Spurs who are a textbook example of how to pîss money up the wall on mediocrity.

Been told Pula's nice - less touristy than Chia.
  12. I think that's what swung it
  13. Around £4m, maybe just shy. Depends how it's structured.
  14. More oh my god. 23 dead now.
  15. You've got to realise that reason will only get you so far here. Many posters are hypocrites and homers (natural bedfellows of a football forum). They will blindly put our youth prospects on a pedestal while rubbishing those from other teams. They will gladly cherrypick transfer fees to justify our lowball offers yet wheel out grossly inflated ones to defend our players values - all while working themselves into a frothy state of agitation. I can quite easily understand why your lot would be annoyed by our offer - the player is still raw but has made more appearances than any of our youngsters, represented the national side at every level and got a full call-up. We're perfectly within our rights to make any offer we want but shouldnt be too surprised if we get told to f**k off.
  16. Terrorism is theatre.
  17. Imagine most will see you as a glorified marketer, not least as a lot of pure PO/comms jobs aren't in the private sector. By all means, try lots of recruiters but effectively interview them and see if they genuinely understand your background before proceeding. Too often the shoe is on the other foot as the customer gets swept up in the flow and the big promises made by recruiters. Recommendations are the name of the game; but are extremely difficult to secure if you're just starting out on a career (anything less than 6-8 years experience). Ultimately, you might have to compromise - for instance, looking at marketing jobs that have a PO/comms dimension.
  18. Having been to a few sports events in the US, you can basically get away with anything here, though I did have to plead to a palace steward one year to allow me to bring in a swiss army knife

Go to the mountains - e.g. Aosta Valley. Very few tourists.
  20. Not just that - they'd be able to command a sale or fee outright if the player was truly in demand. Like some simpletons saying we should have got Osvaldo on an option to buy and all our troubles would have been spared. The world doesn't work like that.
  21. Yep, only the tip of the sandbank as far as shenanigans go.
  22. Told a story by someone who was on Bournemouth's books while redknapp was manager. The youth team was playing one night up at Chatlton and redknapp accompanied them on the team bus. About an hour into the drive, they unexpectedly pull off the motorway onto a byroad and drive to an industrial warehouse where arry instructs a couple of the players to get off and help him lug a 10m roll of carpet onto the bus. They end up going to and from the match, trying not to trip up on the carpet which is occupying the entire central aisle, ultimately destined for arry's house.
  23. Sure it'd be as successful as the last time they hooked up together.
  24. Most selling clubs won't agree to an option to buy unless there are question marks over the player - can't see it being a general strategy unless we start fishing exclusively in one part of the market.
  25. Pal, you're obssessed.
