  1. Yep, that was a very astute bit of business.
  2. Wouldn't read too much into the waffle a banana republic owner spouts to his own local media. Their signings to date have been incredibly low-key: Ben Hamer (Charlton keeper), Jack Barmby (Nicky B's son and united reserve striker), Matthew Upson and Marc Albrighton -all on frees. They've been linked with Gareth Barry, Frazier Campbell, Ross McCormack and Ulloa from Brighton. Good chance Nugent is on his way out.
  3. How many times has it worked when a player has been denied a move to a much bigger club?
  4. Bottom page 9 in the 4-4-2 team with the highest market value.
  5. Why? We would get £9m after Bournemouth gets its 25%, compared to £18.75m if Liverpool pay in straight cash (£25m). Borini and Enrique combined are arguably worth more than £9.75m. Yes there are wages to consider but these are positions that are likely to be strengthened and thus consume part of the wage bill anyway. Obviously, this is a very simplified example -there is the split between guaranteed fee and add-ons to consider; but in principle, doing a player swap is the fairest and most efficient to limit our obligations to Bournemouth.
  6. Kyle Walker £20m
  7. £17-18m + Borini They'd probably refuse but it helps us minimise what we owe to Bournemouth.
  8. Ok its a dreamed up hypothetical. No different from Glasgow ITKery then
  9. Whether Valbuena would come is one thing; but don't think he's the right age profile given what Marseille would want for him. Seems to have been around for ages.
  10. Yep mentioned him and assaidi. £17m + Borini for Lallana.
  11. Not my quote; doddisalegend's quote. I don't particularly buy it either. However, the idea of player power wasn't conjured out of thin air. Clubs know they have more to lose than gain keeping disgruntled players -and so don't hold all the cards.
  12. Why does the club hold all the cards if he "becomes disruptive and spends the peak of his football career playing for the saints development squad?". We're not benefiting financially or football-wise - that's a losing hand if you ask me.
  13. He made them look far more competitive than either of the other two managed.
  14. Borini, Assaidi...
  15. Surely a swap deal would make greater sense in the Lallana sale -that way we can (legitimately) minimise the money we owe to Bournemouth?
  16. If only it wasn't the Mail
  17. In DC or Dallas? Some matchup.
  18. Ralph's new signings
  19. Absolutely, small fry. Care to be put in your place as well
  20. No they weren't legitimate contenders at the start of the season - that's one reason why Suarez wanted to move. Did I say otherwise? But they soon became contenders -and therefore made it far easier for Suarez to get back onboard than feel resentful that the club was standing in the way of his progress.
  21. They were second after six - only Arsenal started quicker than them, you dullard. They were among the top four for most of the season, matching Suarez's ambitions for CL football. Even better, they nearly won the league. Can we do the same for AL like Liverpool for Suarez - and so remove the source of his grievance and desire to move elsewhere? Take your time, you're floundering
  22. Suarez wanted to leave Liverpool to play CL football http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23592181 Throughout the season -beginning, middle, end or whatever point you want to obsess about- they were legitimate contenders for a CL place. Lallana has expressed a similar wish - can we match it?
  23. Read the whole post - they made a fast start and ended up challenging for the title, that is they had a fantastic season. Suarez didn't need to regret or bemoan his aborted move to Arsenal when he was having success with Liverpool. That is the point, you dimwit. Can we do something similar with Lallana - can we make him feel like Liverpool did with Suarez that he can grow and go places with us? That we can match his ambition? That is the key question. If the answer is no....then the analogy is a poor one. Get back behind the stove.
  24. The timing of the transfer window is neither here nor there.
