  1. Without getting all Luddite, if you want to create a brand, cut prices and reward loyalty. Don't put those things further out of peoples reach. A slightly overwrought marketing campaign that misses the point is at best redundant and at worst a tad insincere. And if I wanted 'glory' and 'victories', I would be whoring after some other team - not sticking around with saints.
  2. He's the super-duper record signing, tho - even if you can pick him out of the blackened background. https://ssl.saintsfc.co.uk/ You can't argue with that. Amusing but ******* shameless.
  3. Pretty telling that they've put me Lee at the front of various shots, including his famous goal celebration -remind me how many games he's played for us? Of course, that doesn't mean its dictated this season's choice of kits but we're certainly alive to the asian market angle, even if NC and the marketing dept are fooling themselves if they think its make any real difference to sales.
  4. TBH, that Brighton site deserves to win - yours a close second...
  5. M'boro?
  6. What do you think of it?
  7. Agree definitely not with a red and white shirt - but with a red shirt, it would keep the red and white motif with the traditional black captured in the socks (i hate white socks - black socks are what made one of the old hummel kits so great). But we would then be mancs rather than scousers
  8. Think red shirts, white shorts and black socks would have been better - kept the red and white closer together.
  9. Followed by the outrage over the rights and wrongs of singing NA's red and white army when "we only play in red FFS". Jesus wept.
  10. Not saying that - there's zero relationship between wearing a shirt and your commitment. Just saying that among those who buy shirts, they're bought and worn because they express support, not because they are a fashion statement as most are hideous. In other words, it doesn't really matter what they look like.
  11. Why? You buy shirts because you like them or find them fashionable? Some would say that's dumb. Easier to understand that people wear shirts that make no sense in any other setting because they're a symbol of support. Obviously better if they're not totally hideous.
  12. West Ham's version was arguably slightly worse.
  13. The Japanese are going to be buying kits in the bucketload...get on message FFS
  14. Look for those who wear their kit 24/7/365, its no joking matter
  15. Wheres Turkish, our forum's own Gok Wan when you need him? FWIW- classic vertical stripes do nothing for the fatties out there. Think of it as an act of mercy by our compassionate chairman
  16. They can't and couldn't but to extend the american football analogy, deep-lying playmakers need more aggressive players around them -an offensive line- to give them the time and space to pick their passes. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/italy/9357574/Euro-2012-Andrea-Pirlo-plays-quarterback-in-role-as-Italys-deep-lying-playmaker.html http://www.sabotagetimes.com/football-sport/spain-vs-italy-why-euro-2012s-pass-master-is-pirlo-not-xavi/
  17. Dont know - there has been a spate of articles on the evolution of football, arguing that it has many parallels with American football. And just as the quarterback is one of, if not the most important role in americam football, so the same is increasingly true of the deep-lying playmakers which are probably the closest thing to a quarterback in our game. But -and here's the crux- those roles need time and space 'in the pocket', something which old-fashioned ballwinners continue to provide. NA has used american footballing analogies more than once. For all his bluff and evasiveness to reveal his thinking about the game, its surprising how little people pick up on his interest in and reference to American sports. Schneiderlin as the quarterback and Lambert as the tight end anyone?
  18. Didn't get much fanfare but the first of a three-parter was shown last night. Thought it was pretty good - fewer catchphrases but more wistful, more bitter (while sending up all those documentaries where minor celebs tediously trace their roots). The town hall, Hitler, market stall and cornershop scenes were especially good. Anyone catch it? Still got it?
  19. F**k me- that was right up there. ...probably the first time that the reality of league one football hit me and the beginning of the end for pards.
  20. Didn't somebody on here claim to be ITK on Adkins travel plans for the Euros which appeared to mesh perfectly with Czechoslovakia's fixtures?
  21. Me too - they've pulled out the stops in the past, even got our bubble bus for the skates game to wait after we were held up in London. Give me the ticket office over Virgin Media any day.
  22. So are we signing Michu or not?
