Premier League Experience - Required or Overrated?
shurlock replied to Saint Charlie's topic in The Saints
Think O'Hara is a good shout - a proper upgrade on Chaplow. -
Chris Mccann won it i think. Now that is a class player - shame's he been injured so much.
-
Strange given that apart from some sub appearances, he's only been playing regular football for two seasons - indeed don't remember much talk about him until we were linked last summer.

Premier League Experience - Required or Overrated?

But Swansea have pace -that's for another day... -
Agree- have seen him 8 or so times (in addition to all the clips) and in many of those games I wasn't really paying attention to him. Saw both of his games against us where I did track him. He certainly didn't stand out at their place while the game at SMS wasn't a game to impress in. Either way, I recognise that's not enough of a basis on which to form strong opinions -good or bad. Yes, the stats tell some of the story (but those can be picked to pieces) and I've heard good things -but I also accept that many of those sources i.e. Burnley fans probably look at Jay Rod through rose-tinted glasses as he's one of their own. Indeed, as some admit, if he wasn't a professional, he would be on the terraces at turfmoor (we can't even say that about Lallana). Just as some went to town on Jos, some of here should keep their excitement in perspective (two sides of the same coin) or just acknowledge their ignorance. I look forward to seeing him in the flesh, and then I'll decide.

Will be very interesting to see what happens - could certainly work but both Lambert and Rodriguez drop deep and work well when there are players getting further forward - one reason why Lee was a breath of fresh air and Rodriguez worked well with Austin, another busy, mobile striker. Or think Sheringham, JayRod's role model- and Andy Cole etc etc. If we play both RL and Jay Rod, it puts more pressure on our flanks to get beyond the strikers (and RM is still our weakspot) and stop defences pushing up - its not like any of our current CMs will.
-
Nah, Clyne is a much better defender - and that's still the priority for a fullback.
-
Are RL and Jayrod too alike - on the first glance, they are. Guess we've now got two options to pump longballs into the backpost?! Do hope we smarten up on the wings...
-
To be fair, I doubt many saints creaming themselves over the signing have seen him play either.
-
If so, has got quite a suntan...or perhaps Guly's signing for Burnley

If Saints were in Euro 2012, how well would we do?

Would give the micks a run for their money. FACT. -
Spoke volumes when NA brought Guly on at HT at Leeds as an extra defender. My criticism is that he covers more ground without the ball than with it - often seems to hold back when there's space to attack.
-
How many times have you've seen him play? I've never seen him play once...
-
Kenwyne always got a fair bit of stick.
-
Still looks like ball to hand to me
-
How many of those played in midfield most of the time?
-
What if Cortese's willing to invest a boob job and face lift?
-
How does that work? He doesn't want leave lancs? Or that he might consider everton but not the midlands or down south? Struggling to think of many domestic players where geography has been an issue -or at least it wasn't quickly overcome.
-
Not so sure. Everton play 4-5-1 and Jelavic is a clear starter at the moment. Its hard to say with Villa as I can see the new manager bringing Holt in and they already have the likes of Bent and Agbonlahor.
-
The new Liars album WIXIW is very good. One bar of brats oozes more menace than kasabian have managed in their entire career. Shows up some of Radiohead's recent electronic dabblings as well.
-
And game time - something we can offer and out compete some of the bigger teams on.
-
Assuming you're right, maybe he would have flown back if he was interested.
-
You're qpr, you're chumps - whoever it is, you're bound to overpay for them. Hooper comes to you, the price will be £10m+.
-
Isn't an either/or. Think players you need the likes of a J-Rod and Lambert to get the best out of pacier players i..e to hold the ball up and let runners break beyond them. Even better if your target man can pick a pass. Reading who have bags of pace were much more dangerous when Roberts gave them that option.
