  1. A maximum of 15 points should be enough to go up, perhaps even 14 with our superior goal difference. Our home games are probable bankers, leaving us needing 2 wins from 5 on the road.
  2. How's it clever? He doesn't win the header and doesn't get the foul. The sooner people realise he's a big-boned scouser and converted attacking midfielder and NOT a target man, the better. He actually looked very comfortable when DC came on and he played in a deeper position.
  3. coz lambert never looks like he wants to jump or battle for the ball- makes it easy for the ref whatever the merits of the case are. He should go down more. Agree with the OP- the ref had a decent game, though the lino running the itchen touchline was utter ****e.
  4. Gave him a little clap, nothing major though. Whatever anyone thinks of him, he was part of a horror period in our club's history which only us fans and a handful of players (AL, KD, BB) know anything about. And in his defence, he never showed any attitude during that time (if anything, he and surman would have stayed if we had not made a mess of administration). Never set the world alight but got some good goals (e.g. his brace against wolves) and left some fond memories-standouts include his celebrations when we came from 2-0 behind to beat preston and when he stood with the saints fans away at brum. Always approachable and enjoyed a bit of banter. Saw the way he patted kelvin yesterday after the ball went for a goal kick, still some fondness for the place. Yes we were winning and he hadn't come back and scored against us; but the applause was also a collective realisation that, at last, we're putting BWP's days behind us and we have our eyes set on bigger prizes.
  5. Millwall and Rocking all over the world is the only decent song at games. Didnt we used to play it?
  6. That's wrong - we are much tighter at (as well as dangerous from) setpieces under NA though credit probably has to go to Andy Crosby. Yesterday was a blip.
  7. Totally agree - most of our good work came down the left and harding always made himself a willing option for the pass or overlap. Not only did he set up our 2nd but fizzed in some dangerous balls in the first half. Yes he overhit a fair few; but others were down to Lambert and Barnard arriving too late (or in Lambert's case waiting on the edge of the box with his hands on his hips).
  8. Two individuals - they're less than the sum of their parts when they play together.= both like dropping deep and receiving the ball and neither is blessed with pace (though at least Barnard is busy whereas Lambert is leaden), which makes it easier for defences to play a high line. Its most obvious when we play away and don't have midfielders bombing on. Barnard ahead of Lambert any day of the week at the moment
  9. Nice variety - usually all the early footage of his goals is grainy and incomplete. Lardass had a fair bit of pace. Shame it didnt have the Newcastle brace, the Schmeichel lob, the Wimbledon flick, the overhead kick at Forest amongst countless others. Cortese should be forced Clockwork Orange-style to watch these videos over and over again to understand why Le Tiss is so integral to many of our memories and experience of the club. How much stronger we would be if they were both onside.
  10. 'ave it ferguson...2-2
  11. If not, he'll just go and smash up his mrs. no doubt the miserable c**t will be moaning about missed penalties and the ref bottling things.
  12. Well put

Apart from Colchester away, has been poor recently.
  15. To be fair to NA, his half-time teamtalks always seem to make a difference, as the team comes out alot brighter and sharper. With Pardew, once we were stuck in a groove -for better or worse, it was always difficult to shift gear. Yes he can come across as a bit evangelistic - temperamentally not my cup of tea- but if it works, fantastic. What he has shown that his effusive, self-effacing style can work with big-time charlies (whatever that means in L1). Lots of his early critics said that while this might have worked for plucky underdogs like Scunny, it was totally inappropriate for Southampton where people were predicting that NA would be met with a dismissive smirk rather than a smile. Those critics have been proven wrong.
  16. Agree - at least as a combo, its a more natural pairing than Barnard and Lambert. You need pace and if somebody is going to drop deep like Lambert does all too frequently, you need somebody else to bomb on - Barney's busier and more energetic than Lambert but still likes to drop deep to the hold the ball up. Otherwise it makes it far too easy for the defence to press up and play a high line. Even Barnard or Lambert and Forte might work (no kidding).
  17. Looks like most of the senior execs have either worked at CISCO or maintain an ongoing relationship with it (so we're not talking cowboys here)
  18. This season is surprisingly strong - I think that mid-table is particularly competitive as most teams have very good home records. Nowhere is this clearer than L1 teams form in the FA Cup - from Leyton Orient beating Swansea and drawing with Arsenal to Notts County beating Sunderland and drawing with Man City (neither of which are in the top six), L1 is a tough old place - just look at how the relegated championship teams have fared.
  19. Don't get me wrong - the result was fantastic - a 9 in terms of importance (though it won't matter if we fail to follow it up). However did we play well -not particularly; can we play better - yes. But ultimately, at this stage of the season, are results more important than performances - hell yes. Am just trying to keep some balance between the highs and lows, between the results and performances - this last week could have panned out very differently if we hadn't beaten Colchester and Bournemouth (in addition to Yeovil) - and the games were much, much closer than the scorelines suggest. Just in the same way I wasn't in meltdown as some were on the forum after the Walsall (or Hartlepool) game.
  20. Leading the line superbly he's obviously a sacred cow for some; but lets keep his contribution in perspective.
  21. Maybe because we don't have anything else but Lambert and Barnard doesn't convince me. Not mobile enough. Barnard and Guly have played well the few times they've appeared together (for instance, subbing Lambert in the earlier cup game against Cheltenham changed the game). Otherwise Barnard and a bit of pace, though the jury's out on Forte. The main point is that Lambert, from showing some a bit of form again at the turn of the year, has gone missing again.
  22. Davis 7 - for all their possession, wasn't actually tested much but pulled off a fantastic second half save Butterfield 7 - was up against pugh, their dangerman and kept him relatively quiet Jaidi 6 - convinced he was going to get sent off but was much more comfortable when Fletcher came on Fonte 6 - cleared his lines effectively but has lost some of his earlier composure Harding 6 - our most attack minded defender and was steady enough Chamberlain 6 - didn't see enough of the ball and didn't provide much cover for butterfield. however, he's the only pace we have in the team and won us some dangerous free kicks which helped slow the tempo Chaplow 5 - poor game - we were outbossed in the middle where we rarely came out of the second ball and Chaplow had a large role in that Hammond 7 - got the crucial goal and helped keep things tighter than they would have been given the rest of the midfield's defensive absence Lallana 8 - (MOM) quiet first half but ran the second half - unlike many others keot possession and seemed to have an eternity on the ball. Lambert 6 - great free-kick (more than made up for an earlier freekick which he tried to play short) but lets not kid ourselves he had a poor game. didnt compete in the air and game largely passed him by. if he hadn't scored, would have given a 5. Barnard 7 - leads the line better than Lamert IMO - on current form, it should be Barnard + somebody else
  23. Thought so as well.
  24. chrisard m. arschap Follically challenged up top but makes up for it by covering every blade of grass.
