3 recent PL teams down to League One - Coincidence?
SFC Forever replied to Saint Martini's topic in The Saints
Charlton always have a problem getting fans into the ground. Norwich have a good groundswell of regular support. We have not had as many thru the gates as hoped. I would guess that the main similarity is the need to sell after failing to go straight back. -
We have just spent a season watching the kids get battered by the opposition. League 1 will be more physical still with a bit less skill. this must mean we need a big strong CB, a good ball winning midfielder to share the role with Gillett and a big strong CF to help DMG. Muscle is a must. Spiderman has to go because he shuns full on tackles and will get trampled on. Lallana is too lightweight so I hope that he can be sold. James has progressed well after a dire start to the campaign. I would also give him a chance in his favourite place. That means we need a regular right back as well Now the season is done and dusted, more or less, I feel quite hopeful about our prospects for next season. There again we always feel that way when a season is about to start.

For the first time in years I've got a big smile on my face.

We will start 10 points behind the leaders. If we finish 10 points behind or better we will at worst be in playoffs surely. -
How about writing a book about the last 12 years and donating all profit to the club if needed. I could imagine a few of our notable recent personages willingly telling all if for the benefit of the club.

Is there a law somewhere that bars people who have been bankrupted/involved in causing huge loss of monies from getting a position whereby they could do the same again. Hope you understand the question.
-
Good thinking batman. If this works you will need to have the usual professionals involved. What I don't get though is this:- Derry is trying to get something organised and if his involvement isn't necessary you could surely work alongside him. So why not ask him what he is doing and what he thinks?

Are you offering a contract Ponty??? :D

Isn't he booked for another gig.

Is it a good idea to support a splinter club?

Have to take your word for that my friend. -
Carries her own footballs then!!

And you would not be alone. Though violence can never be condoned

It is highly likely that some of the front runners were Pompey filth. Lots were not wearing our colours and a two pronged effort to gain more trouble for our club couldn't have been easier to arrange. We are so broke we would sell to anyone who waved money in front of us. The league could really sort us out now.

Mike Jones - Saturday's ref to exagerate pitch invasion?
SFC Forever replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Bit of a lon shot this one. The league will use anything they can and we have given them a way round the points problem. -
At least you don't have to watch it. As for the football club, I hope we still have a club next season. Now all we need to do is wait to see who our benefactor will be. I hope the rumours are wrong with a possible return of RL thru Guernsey bid..

I have been to places where there was a bit of fighting. I have done things that I shouldn't. I have never targetted a group which included women and children and never will. My stance will not change. I am as heart broken as the next fan but that does not give me the right to attack the defenceless. I have no problem with people roaming around the ground though the league probably would have. The vast majority of the fans were doing nothing but the morons were and that I can't accept.
-
A lot of the people involved were not Saints fans. You will see that I said the club had been shamed by these morons not that they were saints fans. I think you need to read my post again because nowhere will you see me saying anything against our true fans. The people who go week in week out and pay even knowing we are not going to be entertained very often. I went on the marches and if necessary would have demonstrated on the pitch against the board. I like the vast majority would not have been throwing items at the oppositions fans.
-
The club were selling to fans and allegedly knowingly to Pompey fans in the hunger for money. The club and the police were in the know as to the fact that something was going to happen after the game. Why was it allowed to happen is a question that I would like to see answered.
-
Because of a group of mindless morons the saints club has been brought to shame yet again. If the CCTV footage shows the guilty then we have to be seen prosecuting them to the maximum available. These people are not true fans and don't deserve the freedom to go to a football match again. Going on to the pitch to demonstrate against the board is one thing but they have gone. The club will hopefully be bought and then we can start our climb back to the top. If that happens we must stress the importance of regaining our position as a happy friendly club. More of the same and a lot of people will stop going with their kids and thus destroying any future our club could have. The club is asking our fans to fill their buckets but instead we have to throw our coins at the Burnley faithful. Though some Pompey skates had infiltrated the section there was no way we can condone the violent acts displayed.

To be fair to the league the rule was in place for any club that went into administration and not just us. -

A lot of the problems in defence are caused by overage slow defenders. Add to that young inexperienced midfielders who don't know how to cover a defender's run and boy have we had a problem. Our new manager has to stop the flood of goals going in and then maybe the pressure on the frontmen may drop to an acceptable level. -
It should be a no lose situation if the bidder has enough clout to make us a warm and friendly club that actually has some footballers playing for it.
