Mmm, interim eh. In my experience the appointment of the CFO, even on an interim basis, is a sign that all is not well in camp SFC. I would wager we're seeing the 'swan principle' in action here...beautiful on the surface...paddling like fook below.

Should we rename St Mary's to The Liebherr Arena?

+1 - well said - don't hold your breath though. Trouble is, some posters have learnt that the only way to get a reaction on here is to make a contentious statement and then it's a troll feeding frenzy. -
Should we rename St Mary's to The Liebherr Arena?
Saint Fan CaM replied to The Fat Controller's topic in The Saints
I've always wondered why the stadium was not called The New Dell or The St. Marys Dell. Far better than anything else IMO. -
Very well delivered communication - said what was essentially needed without too much waffle. Time will tell in terms of her ability to maintain the momentum. One possibility that nobody seems to consider is that KL is acting as an Executor to her Fathers will. Perhaps Marcus made clear provisions about how the club should be run and she is ensuring this is the case.

Good summary.

Post Match Reaction: Sunderland 2-2 SAINTS
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
I hate Brown - absolutely terrible player and how he didn't walk for what was a cynical two-footed, studs up, through the ball to player challenge, I really don't know. It looked to me as if Lovren's injury could be his Achilles gone when he extended his leg - not good? Hope Boruc has not gone and injured himself too. Two weeks will be a good rest opportunity with Kelv in goal for Yeovil. Lambert - incredibly - was for me the worst Saints player in the pitch by a long chalk - just hardly made an impact. J-Rod as a striker is hot'n'cold - one minute a fantastic goal, next a string of awful misses when it's on a plate. Onwards and upwards - the good news is we're not being challenged yet for the ninth slot. We do need some fresh blood in the camp though, although Wanyama and Osvaldo will be like two new signings I guess. -
I think there's far too many people trying to put a spin on this that actually doesn't exist. FACT - KL has publicly stated that she tried to keep Cortese in place right until the last minute. This was no sacking. FACT - Cortese was more than just a business contact to Marcus...they were close friends and I would imagine that his family including KL have known of Cortese for quite sometime. FACT - Cortese had been working notice for some months, but was still in situ...not on garden leave. That tends to suggest to me that KL trusted him completely and that despite possible wishes to change the corporate governance of the business, there was no ill-feeling between the two. So yes, the OP has revealed a personal case where Cortese has not agreed with his POV. So what? As Duncan has so rightly said - it's peanuts in the grand scheme - but actually more to the point, it has zilch to do with Cortese leaving the club. These people live and operate in a different world to nearly every forum member (including myself) I would suggest...one that many it would seem do not understand. It would not surprise me to find KL hosting a dinner party for the Cortese family over the weekend frankly.

LOL.

The word from the monkey petting zoo is that times they are a changing. Make of that what you will.

Well kind of...I have provided the criteria for us getting 3 points to be fair. Depends on who the players respect the most perhaps...NC or MoPo?
-
Maybe Katarina has better plans for the club than NC had
Saint Fan CaM replied to berkshiresaint's topic in The Saints
Indeed. Likely though? -
The whole thing smacks of either... (a) Cortese has a role lined up e.g. at AC Milan, or (b) KL wants to sell Luke Shaw and Cortese wanted to keep him here or he would leave. Or both. So perhaps we shall see the departure of Luke Shaw and possibly others such as Lallana and Schneiderlin before the end of the January window. Unless of course, the vision for the football side of the business was not Cortese's atall, but that of Les Reid - the chap that has for some time wanted to see a special club like Saints nurture top English talent for the England team. And of course if KL wanted to sell the club, would it not be better to sell it with the best players in situ? Perhaps there's more to this than meets the eye.

The Sun: Saints looking to sign Diego for 1.6m
Saint Fan CaM replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
Would really love this to be true - I think this lad is a class act and would fit in well with the system. It would give us more depth in the attacking midfield area for certain and would mean the likes of Guly could be off-loaded. -
Absolutely this - took the words out of my mouth.
-
I can see a home win or at best a draw to be honest...probably 1-1. We tend to struggle against teams like Sunderland, however if the lads are really up for a fight then we might nick it 1-2.

Everyone knows who you are, You're a Saint from afar, Shine on you Dani Osvaldo... Score at Saint Mary's my Son, And we'll be cheering you on, Shine on you Dani Osvaldo... Sung to 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond'. Simple...effective?

RIP Ray - didn't know you, but it's sad when any Saint falls.
-
Best wishes to the chap - hope he pulls through - would be nice if someone on here can provide an update to his condition if one is available.

Post Match Reaction: SAINTS 1-0 West Brom
Saint Fan CaM replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Scrappy match with two world-class moments - Gaston pass/Lallana goal and Boruc save. Lambert and J-Rod really don't look like Prem-level strikers at the moment. I thought Cork had a great game. -
£30 million for for Luke Shaw should we take it?
Saint Fan CaM replied to modern matron's topic in The Saints
There are three key issues here... 1. Does Luke want to move? If so, there's nothing we will be able to do to stop a move, so we need to ensure an equally capable young LB is found. 2. You cannot underestimate the importance of the team spirit and ethic that has built over the last 3-4 years. Luke has grown as an important feature of this and to loose him would be a small chink in that armour. 3. Cortese's strategy for the future of the club is to retain our best youth and develop them. Luke is the best of our new batch of youth to make the 1st team since L1 days. To sell him now would be like Cortese ripping up his long-term strategic plan. If there's one reason above all others that tells me this is not going to happen, it's this one - Cortese is not that kind of man. -
Patience. A novel concept among football supporters.

Didn't Kenwyne Jones start life as a CB?

Just can't see us ditching Osvaldo now unless there is a definate target lined up.
