  1. Great story thanks. More of this please and less of the other stuff (you know what I mean).
  2. Excellent post and this reflects my feelings entirely. Unfortunately reading further into this thread reveals the usual suspects descending into petty squabbles once again. Can't wait for Saturday now - I hope the lads are up for it. WIFM.
  3. The trouble is surely that as fans we're far too fickle - if the team are winning generally there's a lot of positive noise and encouragement. If there's any semblance of failure - i.e. going one goal down - players get slated and there's a noose being prepared for the Managers/CEO's neck. Booing your own players or indeed any form of negativity is surely going to be counter-productive whether we like it or not. If you're a performer of any kind, having an appreciative and supportive audience through thick and thin is a fantastic feeling and will assist getting every last drop of effort and skill out of you. Conversely having your so-called supporters turn on you is hardly going to encourage you to work harder for the cause.
  4. That would be a top signing and a good partner/replacement for Lambo. Unfortunately I don't believe it will happen. In fact I will be surprised if we get anyone other than a loan or two now.
  5. I agree with the OP. I like the outlet the forum gives me to vent my ideas, fears, concerns and indeed faith and passion in the club. More often than not though, I'll just read through a thread to find it descending into the usual personal vendetta's, so it seems pointless writing anything as my post will almost certainly be ignored amongst the vitriol. I often think that unless you post something on here that's abusive or highly contraversial you're just ignored. On a more general note, I wonder whether in the absence of decent rumours to discuss, all that's left to discuss for some is the negative stuff (the exception being Markus' untimely passing this week). The topics to discuss are quite limited - many have been done time and time again. So posters get bored and start abusing each other rather than stick to the topic. If you disagree, just write "I disagree - my opinion is..." - if you write "you're a mong for writing such rubbish" or similar, don't be surprised if you start WW3 on here. MODS need to recognise those types of posting habits and put temporary banning orders on anyone who writes in such a way - surely that's part of the deal we all pay for and sign-up to as full members? Otherwise what's the point of paying for use of the forum? Indeed, I would like to know whether any users have me on ignore - what would be the point in me paying my subs if no-one can read and contribute to my threads or posts?! MODS - is there a function that will allow members to see if they're on ignore? Perhaps as a mark of new found 'brotherhood' and mutual respect all 'ignore flags' should be reset?
  6. I wish I could be there but work prevails. Thoughts will be with those attending - they're clearly expecting many 100's. This is a memorial service, so I would think this something arranged by the club rather than Markus' family?
  7. Every game is a "must win". But we will not win every game - there will be no runaway teams IMO this season. WIFM
  8. I suspect that if I need to explain that to you, you are probably a Sun reader?!
  9. Great words - sums up how I feel too.
  10. Despite my passion for Saints, I find it quite strange that I have been so moved by the events of the last two days. Watching and listening to the tributes from others who like me never knew Markus but somehow felt a very special bond with him, was quite difficult to be honest. And I am not sure how I'm going to react at the next home game - it's going to be extremely emotional. It's absolutely clear that Markus felt a deep affinity with Saints supporters, acquired over a relatively short period of time and for me this accentuates in a way how much he took us to his heart pretty much unconditionally. When you really think about how uncomplicated this wonderful man was in his investment in Saints, the things that really matter in life seem to be so much clearer. Markus was a highly intelligent and responsible man and I feel certain that he will have ensured that his legacy will live on with us for as long as we allow it. One thing is absolutely crystal clear to me now - the supporters of this great club must pull together and roar the team onto success after success in the name and memory of Markus. Anything less would be a complete and utter disgrace in my view.
  11. This sums it up perfectly.
  12. I did slate the Northam for a poor show on Saturday, but they made up for it big time on Tues. - fantastic stuff - it really did make the difference. Now we can ALL sing OWTS for Markus.
  13. I like that draw - a mediocre Prem team at home - we could do 'em with a bit of luck and decent game plan.
  14. As I have already stated on the other two threads on the same subject, Markus deserves a statue next to Ted's - no question in my mind of the validity in this. A stand or even the Stadium itself could be renamed by anyone in the future. A statue would serve as a permanent reminder to everyone of the grace with which Markus saved our famous club for our great City.
  15. RIP Markus. May I be the first to ask - no demand - that the club immortalises the great man with a statue next to Ted's. OK, he was only with us for one year, but what a year and he has been every bit the influence in keeping the club alive. Beyond that, I think any further speculation is disrespectful right now, but I do feel we'll be OK.
  16. Absolutely gutted. RIP Markus and best wishes to his family at what must be an incredibly difficult time. Thank you so much for saving our football club and setting a course and vision for something better than anything we've experienced before. I only hope that vision continues to be put into effect by Nicola, his staff and all us supporters united in your good name.
  17. This is the most important game of the season this week. Indeed a must-win game otherwise we'll be doomed to relegation and AP will almost certainly be sacked. Plus we'll lose our best players as they'll not want to be a part of a losing team after so many games. 1-2 Saints. Easy.
  18. All ex-Saints gravitate to Stoke. It's the law.
  19. For a start I think this comment should be put in context with the first part of the interview when AP said they were playing above their station, so this was a bit of a back-handed compliment TBF. But also, perhaps you and others have not come to terms with the fact that we ARE a club playing league one football, with a squad that is in many ways good enough to only compete in league one. Even though we've got a strong squad I think we'll see significant changes if we make it up to the Championship.
  20. Yep - agreed. Never have bought that rag - designed for neanderthal reading.
  21. I have to say I was quite unsure about what AP saw in him, however last night confirmed he is getting better and better. He is only 17 so put into context, the lad seems to have what it takes to be a real star. Interesting thing though was AP's comments when he said Alex would come under pressure for a place, hinting at a possible signing perhaps.
  22. Perfect time to play the Skates. We can do them with Rickie and Lallana back.
  23. I thought he looked not too bad defensively, but agree his distribution was awful last night. I also think that Martin has a better football brain than Seaborne, but has yet to prove himself to be a 1st team regular. To be fair to Seaborne there were a number of players last night whose ability to distribute the ball seemed to have left them - notably Puncheon who lost the ball on countless occasions because he didn't look up and make a pass at the right time.
  24. HMRC have shot themselves in the foot perhaps by failing to prosecute Pimpley...all bets are off when it comes to unpaid tax bills having any large effect on a football club's operations.
