I'm not one for older journeymen and I genuinely wanted the idea of the kids to work, but it's the quality of the older players that has made the real difference. My take on the old brigade: Kelvin - getting better with age, like many keepers Perry - an oustanding professional who only occasionally shows his age but looks fit and reads the game so well Saga - works hard and looks like scoring every game Euell - has worked so hard to win the crowd over (me included) and goes around the team like an old-hand, cajoling and motivating like a captain Saejis - quality player Skacel - mmm, when he puts it in he really puts it in, but typical eastern European playboy some of the time!

Not true. If you do the maths and run the numbers, you know in football that higher earners are more likely to be better players, ergo you are more likely to win. Who ran the numbers on ticket and commercial sales?? Shipping out Saga saved what? Losing every game at home cost what? Working with those had offered finance to maintain the squad strength would have cost what? Face? Working for nothing to fund a player, ever considered by our board? These are all decisions that people who run businesses make every day. Rupert has long wanted to play more youth players - financial imperative or no.

He refused to play good players and once again fell back on his old policy of quantity beats quality. The guy is clueless and needs to be removed from this club. Skacel, Euell and Saga have been the difference over the past few weeks. What difference have Gasmi, Pulis, Peckhart, Robertson, etc made to our season?? This is the same old same old from Lowe who detests paying high wages for good players - yet is happy to pay bonuses to rich bankers. A hypocrite of the highest order who simply does not believe in the football truism that better players cost more - just like a BMW costs more than a Citroen - for a reason!!!

Yes something has clicked. It's called 'common sense': 1. Two CBs at Centre Back. 2. Two left-sided, left footed players on the left. 3. Two right-sided, right-footed players on the right. 4. Two strikers (one international standard, one experienced). Our team now has a spine. It has strength. It has people playing where they SHOULD be playing and staying there. TEN of these ELEVEN were here on day one of the season. Why did it take 34 games to work this out? We needed a CB - who didn't say it on day one of the season? We needed a striker to stay and not be loaned - who didn't say it on day one of the season? But we will probably still go down becuase of these crass, amateurish mistakes.

Don't often agree with you Sid, but spot on here I think. It finally looks like our team has a spine - defends from the front and is made of sterner stuff than earlier in the season when we simply relied on too many youth players.
