The official unofficial January transfer targets thread..

....more's the pity ! -
you can't blame the bloke for trying, but if he's intent on pushing for big bucks, best leave him alone because if he does persuade himself to come, he'll become unsettled at some point in the future, when we do sign players with higher salaries.... Lots of people tend to have the wrong balance of ambition ...and greed!
-
you know everyone is holding their breath, Dalek..waiting for Tuesday midnight to see if Hooper does sign.. IF he does.... are you going to do your impression of a suicide bomber in public, or will you quietly implode at home ?

quite right Clarkey........but he could be a match-winner at Notts County's level ... -
well at least we didn't pay a huge fee for him, but don't be too critical..we've had strikers in the past, who cost big fees and didn't perform that well...
-
oh...now I understand your fears. Which team ....are you going to support instead - if we get promoted that is ?
-
we are overloaded with "skilful, creative players"....Let's just sign a couple of good strikers whoknow how to put it in the back of the net, instead ! Forget the skill. Names like these(K. Davies) are desperation moves, especially when were supposed to be thinking ...PREMIERSHIP ! PREMIERSHIP ! (someone's) rumour said NA wanted Beattie.. but that Cortese said no. GOOD ! Hope he says no to this idea, too. I have nice recollections of some of our former players - I'd like to keep it that way. The phrase .." never go back" is 99% right, and never truer than in League football. It often leads only to dismal performances, disappointment, and disgusted fans.

YES of course. 30 is young for a keeper, and they get better with age. e.g. Shilton, Van der Sar ..Niemi (!). Think KD is playing better now that when he came. But some Premiership sides have TWO international keepers...I'm afraid that I'm not convinced that Bart is even good enough for CC ....at the moment. The longer he stays as no.2 - the worse it will be. Played only 30 games in 5 years. He should have a season out on loan to a CCC /L1 side to get experience. Get in another experienced keeper with Prem. and (preferably) International background.

Don't know how many attended... " Fans Forum's" ? ....several dozen.....fifty.....a hundred?....more ? Still sounds like a stressful exercise to me. Much nicer to have a quiet evening and spend time chatting over things in a civilised manner.
-
on another thread... it said that Connolly's mother died last Sunday. Don't know when the funeral might be, but he might not be in the city, even (?)
-
It's Millwall!.....if they were still around I'd play; Huxford, McGrath and Ruddock at the back! Jack's play may be too delicate for the likes of the Lions!

Don't follow that logic, I'm afraid. Do you tell the landlord at your local how he should spend the money you paid for your beer ? ....or the manager of the local Tesco how you want him to spend what... " used to be your money ?" For a start , NC doesn't have to do it at all. As it's in the evening (after normal worktime)...and the fans concerned are not paying, where's the problem. Picking the fans randomly, you get a good idea of feelings in the fanbase, and a much better understanding of what makes the "average fan " tick! Over a period of time you get to see a good cross-section of the fans who might not otherwise ever see the Chairman, let alone get a chance to talk to him. From what I know of Fans Forum, they are often dominated by one or two people who drone on criticising everyone and everything in the club. This way everyone can have a voice and converse in a calmer manner. I think it's a great idea. Pity that a few more companies don't pick up on the idea, it would improve communication and help smooth out misunderstandings.

It was a question Adrian, I asked if he was still a regular with ..whoever he's with now? If we are thinking " Prem. football " we see the majority of those clubs have one, if not two international keepers. If we continue to call KD our number one, please don't tell me we don't need someone other than Bart or Forescast as our no.2 Prem goalie.

The acceptable distance to stand behind someone at the urinal?
david in sweden replied to kwsaint's topic in The Muppet Show
total waste of effort - you all ought to wear nappies instead. Let's face it, a few more performances like Monday night ...and you'll be shi**ing yourselves as well ! -
Glad we've bought Lee (cos the other Lee B. who is out of it now)...and that JP has been given another chance, BUT... I've still got the same shopping list I had in January 2011... WE still need.......another BIG striker, another tough CB and a QUALITY back-up goalie to cover for KD...just in case. (Is Shay Given still a regular at ..wherever it was he moved to ?)
-
maybe Robert. E.....rhymes withTadan-ari ? (or, is that too far-fetched?.)

how do you interpret that ?... Have they had a bid already ..and no-one else since then, or ? -
......we can only hope he has to go... a bit more often, we've been rather short on goals at SMS recently !
-
OK St.Jason ... now I see it, maybe we are on the right bus after all. The real problem seems to be .we have bid for Hooper but Celtic won't let him go..........and we haven't bid for Sharp (who would surely come- if he were only asked !
-
....sounds like a sensible attitude to take, and showing loyalty but obviously if thats the case - we don't stand a chance of promotion... judging by some of these threads. There are people on here who forecast we would finish 17th in CC, who are calling us failures because we've sunk to second spot....what can you expect?
-
(a) we don't have any other experienced defenders to choose from. It's Ok trying out Academy lads in midfield, but judging by tonight's 1-5 drubbing from the Notts. Forest kids.. we don't have any suitable young defenders either. (b) he looked better than Harding because... along with several others on Monday night ... Harding had a shocking game !
-
Do we need anyone else? YES; OF COURSE.... We are this close to the top and must get it right now. 3 weeks ago NA said we had 13 injuries /suspensions, I don't want to see us in the same position 3 weeks before the end of the season. The list your posted LOOKS impressive, but Falque is only on loan and will go back to Spurs, Lee is still untried in England (though we all hope he's the real thing) Barnard is unlikely to play for us again this season, and we can only hope that DC stays fit. Puncheon has to prove himself to the club (and the fans) all over again. Let's hope Fonte is back soon, as we may not see Seaborne (no pun) again this season either, and with Jos out injured for an undefined period and Jaidi retiring in June.. Aaron Martin is our only fit CB. We all know our best eleven..(or best sixteen anyway) and most of the rest aren't good enough to break into the present CCC team, let alone challenge for a spot in the Premiership and I expect half a dozen at least to be on their way..if not more!...as we have Academy lads waiting in the wings. YES we need more, and NOW! . We can sort the wheat from the chaff at the end of May..regardless of where we will be playing next season.
