  1. Thanks for the update ESB and despite my differences with Daren in the past when a poster goes missing for a few weeks you do tend to think it's the worse sort of news when you are aware of their circumstances. If people genuinely think I would 'get a rise out of any poster' deliberately knowing their circumstances then I'm afraid they don't know me at all well. I sincerely hope the scan gives your Mum and yourself some good news this week and can only try and appreciate those feelings of fear and dread you are experiencing.
  2. Perhaps like me they are of the opinion that it is easy to throw money at a problem quite another entirely to actually solve it.
  3. The question for me Daren is and always will be, was Crouch's help given unconditionally like those who dropped their tenners and fivers in the buckets?
  4. Good night Hypo - remember I have not resorted to name calling or insults and posting for me is pointless if it's solely to curry favour and win a popularity contest. My purpose is to offer my opinion and improve my knowledge - end off. If my question is not viewed as genuine whose fault is that really? Would I've asked it if a thread about missing posters hadn't been started? No probably not but it got me thinking so does that make Phil the provacative one for planting the seeds in our collective pschyes to start with?
  5. Clarification noted
  6. Interesting he decided to appoint Oldknow as Commercial Director and didn't Oldknow bring SISA to the table? No doubt we came to lot of people's attention at the time of Allen - means nothing other than Cortese became aware of us as a club.
  7. The problem is with Daren and if he is not big enough to recognise a genuine question and concern for his absence knowing his circumstances then more fool him and everyone else. I am not in the business of gloating or seeking captial out of the unfortunate circumstances of others and I take extreme offence to that suggestion. The mere fact you question it as an insult is somewhat provocative in itself and the real issue is that you are trying to dissuade me from posting a reasonable question.
  8. The same Andrew Oldknow who was most probably the man who brought ML and NC to the table. I think he has sprinkled enough magic business dust to last a lifetimes of wannabe football directors Crouch and McMenemy. Crouch and McMenemy - don't want to buy a ticket than good riddance and perhaps now are showing their true spoilt colours. Hope Crouch enjoy's the 'publicity' at Eastleigh and McMenemy takes his bile bath on Saturday afternoons.
  9. 'Sounds like'? How? Any connatation you or others put on what is a genuine question is of your own making. A thread about missing posters, Daren is a notable absentee and i was wondering if his mother has passed on. Provacative? Or merely an attempt to understand how the land lies to ensure obvious sympathies are observed when / if he does return?
  10. The size of a man's knowledge of 'sound systems' has an inverse connection to the size of his other equipment which he hopes to get to use when telling someone - 'seriously, you may think you've heard Barry White before...'. Buy a Onkyo sound bar - good enough for most and simple set up in about 2 minutes. Chest wig not optional.
  11. Just he had a view on Um Pahars that I thought seemed to fit. It was said in confidence so won't say more than that.
  12. Sorry?? It's a genuine question, the same as your's about Snowballs2.
  13. Snowballs2 was a retired accountant who did live locally and then moved north to be with / near his daughter in the Chester area. Unfortunately, he developed a brain tumour and that could be witnessed as the quality and length of his posts diminished. I think it's fair to say we had a healthy disregard for eachother apart from one person involved in Saints recent past and we struck up a friendship via pms for a while prior to his illness as a result. Funny enough he had a link with Um Pahars as UP's dad was one of his old number crunchers if I remember correctly. Unfortunately, I don't have the pms now but Snowballs2 had UP's card well marked. Forums are about opinions and not some cosy club where posters can consider themselves immune from rule breaking provided they always tow the populist line or have a well known profile. I enjoy reading the views of everyone apart from the sanctimonious few whose posts tell us more about their own jet set lives or that their views are backed by people inside the club. Perhaps UP left because with the new regime he simply became a number like the rest of us. What happened to Daren Wheeler? I hope his absence doesn't mean his Mum has passed away?
  14. Somebody needs to tell him that the last man doesn't wear gloves because he is so far off at times that can be his only excuse.
  15. Papa reminds me to much of BWP and his runs apart from one were checked everytime or he was always offside. Antonio's key asset over Papa is that he doesn't get knocked off the ball so easily and is far more purposeful with his forward runs with the ball. I'll be amazed if Papa starts a league game anytime soon provided injuries don't allow him a way back in. He was poor today and even his first touch was letting him down - 5 IMO would be generous score. Apart from James' persistent choice to cross the ball from deep on the diagonal and badly, there was no poorer performer in a Saints shirt and RB is an area of weakness for us still. Apart from those 2 players I thought the team played brilliantly and MOTM to Lambert for consistently holding the ball up well with little support first half and a very well taken goal but you could give it to 5 or 6 of our players and Hammond was outstanding and so was Lallana second half but a bit quiet first half.
  16. Been a long time since we have gone behind in a game and I felt 100% confident we would still win it. If that is representative of how MK Dons play then how were they 3rd before today and why was Pardew concerned about their ability to play the ball? The game for me had it all, excitement, atmosphere, frustration (first half), comedy (their goalkeeper / Powell / the left back in the comedy wig) and like most I agree Pardew played a blinder for the critical timing of those subs and it may be a while before we see Papa start a game - all things considered. One final thing how brilliant was Connolly's anticipation and I hope we don't start a home game 4 5 1 for a long time to come as we could have really destroyed this lot had we got forward in numbers first half.
  17. Why? Going after the MK Dons' family groups this week?
  18. Get over yourself - are you suggesting a separate forum for all Lowe related threads. 'The Lowe Breakfast Bar' perhaps? This thread has actually come up with the more sensible debate and time like everything else will dictate when his name barely creates a ripple in our consciousness but that doesn't appear to be yet but time is producing a more balanced debate or is that what you are scared of?
  19. Well you're one of the best comedian's on here including one who allegedly does it for a living. Very little according to Gaydamak, Ashley, Wilde BS - Before Smiths Gingerbread - reminds me of Hanzel and his fragrant sister Both, I am bilingual Go away golf boy this is a football forum Leon Crouch Yes - Matt Le Tissier - don't like cheats especially lazy ones. That is not a bone otherwise we would all be Charlie Chaplain. Henry VIII type role rewriting religion and the removal of the ridiculous notion of godparents. Yes, they were with your wife. My name is Markus not Max. Doesn't everyone and usually at the sametime?
  20. No idea, great character and great books though. Surprising as I prefer books set in the present day and wouldn't normally read anything set in the 19th c.
  21. FF, you've read my posts and know my thoughts on the Daily Mail and the Guardian for that matter. If my thoughts at times mirror the political and moral grounds of these two dailies then so be it but it is by accident rather than by design as my opinions reflect how I interpret the issues of the day, not rehashing some over-zealous journo or editor pushing their own political agenda. Politically, I have a foot (of varying sizes) in every major political party but none seem to support enough of my views to warrant me to vote for them on a lesser of the 3 evils basis unlike a recent analogy in football of course. Still hardly matters in my neck of woods as abstaining is as pointless as voting but the former saves a bit of time and hassle. Still I enjoyed your houshold's nickname for the Mail and no doubt you upset at least 10% of this forum plus another 10% who won't admit to being upset as they are still trying to work out what the problem is with reading it. BTW did you buy the Observer last Sunday? If you did, no doubt you enjoyed the term Autobiographical Immunity. Before you say anything I was around some 'friends' having my yearly, can't avoid it any longer, indoctrination to a carbon neutral lifestyle. Reading that quote almost made the visit worthwhile before it was whisked from me to fire up the wood burner.
  22. Hypo, pm me your justgiving address and I would be happy to make a donation. Given the effort you're going through to raise money I guess I'm being a tad churlish complaining about the junk mail that site generates. May come a time when I am grateful to receive some post in the curent circumstances even begging letters!
  23. I have been saying it for a while but relegation from the Permier League is an occupational hazard for all but a handful of clubs. Like it or not this is not the level playing field of the late 20th C and it was a tremendous achievement to finish 8th but not a feat as easily repeated as the many repeated battles to avoid relegation in times when it was arguably easier to compete at the top before 'wealth gap' really took hold. It was a miracle we avoided relegation in at least 4 of our 25 years before 2003 and to finish 8th was a feat on par (all things being relative) with our 2nd place in the league in the 80's. Nobody at Newcastle can complain about the lack of money only how it was spent and the Boro's chairman seems one of the good guys and very different in his approach to Lowe but neither offer a blueprint to success. It seems to me fans are quick to withdraw their support or rock the boat during a bad run as laughably Liverpool fans are now doing after 4 straight defeats and god knows how many straight top 4 finishes in previous seasons?! Fans and their unrealistic levels of expectation bring down clubs and exacerbate what usually is an already poor situation and there seems little else in terms of a common denominator that can be added to that fact.
