Writing words in capital letters on internet forums Hasper indicates SHOUTING but whether you shout it or whisper an insult it's an insult and best avoided especially ones that may one day endanger the health of your 8 year old grandson as he was under the impression it was an amusing thing to do.

Thank you Deppo but just in case I'll run that post under the ultra violet scanner.

Daren you think I'm involved in a witch hunt just because I have a differing opinion to you but unable to phrase it as well as Ron. Mind you I think if I had you would still have ridiculed and try to rubbish my view and persisted with the name calling and insinuations of which you know absolutely nothing of course. In fact very very few do and that's the way it will stay. As for Lowe I merely thought he was the best person to take us forward instead of Crouch or Wilde and in the absence of anyone else and therefore deserved my full support as someone committed to the club's future and remaining in charge of it's own destiny. Looking forward I am very pleased with the new set up and grateful they had the good grace not to walk away. As for your personal situation you will always have my empathy as I know how distressing it can be tending a fading parent but i will always remain confident in my opinion that the club took the right action in not making a special exception for your Mum because of the inevitable slew of requests that it would have led to. The club is in an invidious situation and that is why like most other institutions they choose to support charities at a group level rather than an individual level to be equitable to all. Hope you understand and appreciate my opinions even if you don't agree with them.

Brilliant post and at last a voice of reason and someone who understands what I have been saying all along if not as eloquently as you have put it. I will add that I still beileve MLT would have been better off lying low for a few games so our new owner could enjoy his moment. No doubt had MLT not been involved in Pinnacle none of this debate would have surfaced but sometimes sh1t happens (Daren) and it makes you re-evaluate your thoughts about people and situations.
-
OK I assume you are saying (by not giving a toss) that MLT is not a sporting legend but a legend for SFC. Thanks and I agree with you but do you accept he had the talent to be far bigger than he was and apart from our own preferences he ultimately failed to achieve everything he could have done had he the courage or conviction to move on. Try and think outside your parochial little world - who will by his book beyond the fans of Saints and who would have bought it had he maximised his ambition to his gift. He took le tiss out of himself in the end IMO.

Your company in the city won't be happy if you don't start taking some calls soon in Stoke on Trent instead of reading my posts. Still with two degrees I'm guessing you can multi task - read, talk and chew at the same time.
-
Works both ways Daren but I'll forgive you due to your 'special' circumstances. Now how about commenting on whether MLT is a true sporting legend as I mentioned in my post. Someone who has happy to confine themselves to the Dell and a relatively small club when he was easily good enough to grace a bigger stage has undoubtedly limited ambition and as a result limited his post playing options and no doubt book sales. If he sells 50,000 he'll be doing well but if he had played for a bigger club and secured a succesful international career that was easily within his grasp he could have sold 10 times as many. Where does Lowe fit into all that? The issue that many of you cannot grasp is no one is disputing his status as a legend at SFC but a legend in his sport - sorry international honours and club medals are testament to that. As for his role in Pinnacle I defer to Fitzhugh Fella who is in a far better position than I am to comment and I agree 100% with his conclusion so feel free to pick yourself a tougher target, oh and try and respond to the post.

Thank you, I'm surprised it's taken you 51 posts given the insight you have provided.

Good one Wes! Always trying to curry favour with a different poster a bit like me according to your 'joke' except you are fishing for friends. Bit sad really. x :butthead:

Sanctomonoius? I'm not the one telling everyone what a great fan I am either by undertaking a 400 mile round trip for a home game. Well done you have plenty of time to teach your kids a few more choice phrases to abuse strangers with. Clearly, you don't actually work in the city and for all I know you could be filling up the cashpoints in Barclay's Stoke-on-Trent. Bet I'm right - work for a city company - talk about trying to big yourself up , you ought to apply for a transfer with those degrees although I doubt head office require a cashier. I don't care about Rupert Lowe but I do know one of the advantages of city life is the incestuous networking and why he may not have many friends at WH Ireland as you allege he has far more influential friends as I understand it at the likes of Goldman Sachs, former home of........? Funny old world, if you live in it. Wes, as usual you ruin the basis of a good attack by referring to me as a troll. I'm no more a troll as you are a stalker and the reason being is because I don't just post an opinion to antagonise I post an opinion and provide my reasons and can stick to it safe in the knowledge that is what I believe in. A troll will post anything and everything and regardless of any knowledge. Are you a troll Wes? Oh btw I do debate as you know but rarely with you as I guess you can say i have entered the second half of my life where all of a sudden you realise time is precious and I can't be wasting it, talking with boycotting windbags like yourself.

I too am pleased the replies on here have been sensible having read what Cortese said, I felt some reactions maybe different. Afterall, the structure is not a million miles away from where we were under Lowe and he according to many was definitely not qualified to have the final say so on transfers and given Cortese's background I'm surprised of the double standards of many fans but relieved nonetheless. My guess though it won't be long before we have our first wtf does Cortese know about football thread and especially as he is previously not a big time supporter. History has a habit of repeating itself expecially in the knee jerk reactions of some of our fanbase.

Attention? Or spark some debate? As I say MOG you keep responding I'll keep posting as you are always the first to the enter key.
-
Keeps you busy Wes and I'm pleased my posts are always worthy of your time and response.
-
Absolutely correct and some explanation to the fans in the role he played would be nice before his next lap of honour at SMS.

Just a hunch like you Verbal can't resist referring to me and as for Wes......

I have never underestimated MLT's role for Saints and dervived as much pleasure from watching him play for us as the next man. However, looking it from the prespective of analysing whether MLT was a sporting great you have to conclude outside of Southampton he wasn't and never would be. We loved his loyalty but from his own perspective in terms of sporting greatness it was misplaced because it compromised without a doubt his ability to be as great as other no 7's that have played for their country or the top clubs in Europe. Pity really because his book would have sold more copies and his name far more bankable now his playing days are over. My guess is football fans not connected with Saints will take a look at the title of his book and say something like 'that'll be about right' and move on. Widespread appeal is reserved to the true greats of the game, which IMO MLT should have been, or the fallen idols such as Gazza, McGrath and Bowles to name but 3 whose books transcended those who were simply grateful they played for their club. MLT has a booksigning in Waterstones in Basingstoke this Friday, maybe worth going and asking him if he will write the final chapter and make good some of his subsequent and IMO ill-founded comments.

Disgusting? Your word not mine and yes Saints fans do have a few bad apples just as if i was posting on any other minority forum. Not all the dreggs of society on the Kyle show are Saints fans are they so please don't make me out to be 'disgusted by Saints fans'. Just happens I am making a comment about a saints fan regarding his post on a saints forum kinda goes with the territory or shall we all have a love in?
-
The thread should never have been started IMO. University lecturers and 2 degrees or not precocious little kids shouldn't be shouting insults at stangers based on what they are wearing.
-
Why on Why Wes - I think you're the one with the back catalogue of letters to Took , Robinson and Wogan. It's to do with your writing style and need to dissect every syllable in an effort to prove the original poster wrong as oppose to simply posting your own views. See me Corky, for the record I stand by my opinions and whilst I may not be the sharpest tool in the box I do know how to parent my kids and avoid regaling foolish stories about them on Internet forums. You clearly regret the actions of Hasper and now feel the need to defend them of their actions and those of your son by telling us all what a bright family you are. Bottom line we are all nothing more than the total sum of our own experience and some very intelligent people can also be our biggest thugs IMO as easily as they can also be sadly naive and without common sense. Who said anything about watching Kyle @ 9.30am in the morning if that was what you were alluding to. He use to have a radio show in Manchester, has written a book, has a Sunday show on Talksport and for those who are interested in the horrors of some parts of modern day Britain his daytime show is looped continously on ITV 29 or whatever - check your EPG. The man is a spanner but I doubt even he would condone your defence. As for Lowe, well done, having worked in the city for many years I can assure you there are thousands more like him earning huge amounts of money and if they fail at one thing they often have the intelligence without the education to morph themselves into another role by playing the game hence he took on a senior role in Derivatives after Deutsche waltzed in- bonds without the paperwork if you like. Relatively speaking Lowe and many others may have failed but were onto a more successful career before you had decided to finishing your schooling unsure I guess how to turn all that academic stuff into real life whilst ensuring you could get away with working for just the 36 weeks a year. There lies the rub and perhaps you are a victim of your own intelligence - academic - not of practical relevance. Try and listen to some practical advice - tell your kids not to shout insults at strangers especially if they come across as precocious smart ar5es to boot - quite literally.
-
Wes, 'why oh why' you defined the term pompous windbag and your school master's red pen See me
-
You missed off the 'see me'.
-
Ditto - and normally wearing a football shirt to parents evening. It wasn't until my very late teens that I actually heard my Dad swear in front of us. If a parent only achieves one objective it surely must be to teach their children how to be decent human beings and treat others how they would wish to be treated themselves. The posts defending the upbringing and actions of this 8 year old is a sad indictment of society today - personally I call it the 'Kyle Culture'. Perhaps more worryingly the adults this lad obviously worships will not always be there to save him as he grows up.

I agree with your paragraph above and in hindsight Lowe would have been better off recruiting Wotte as the manager form the start and given Poortvilet's recents comments to the media his appoiintment was badly handled at best and a grave error of judgement at the worse. Not being party to any of the decisions/conversations that must have went on we can only take it at face value as you have done IMO. Same applies to MLT and the rest involved in a very sorry 3 years.
