  1. Would explain why he had to rush off. It would be kind of delicious don't you think and stamping on the fingers of all those desperate to hang on for some role at the club. Pure fantasy of course so bring on the Swiss for an approach hopefully in the spirit of Lowe. Professional planning and don't duck decisions. (pun intended)
  2. We can only dream of stability and professionalism. Who made the decision to appoint Wotte as manager this week?
  3. I agree with you JB apart from your stance on May or that Clarkson made May because he has 'thrived off Clarkson's fame and talent'. Clarkson is a one trick pony and ready for the knackersyard. I seriously doubt Clarkson could pull off the number of entertaining and diverse documentaries that May as managed in his self-effacing way whereas Clarkson is now a bigger parody of his own bigoted self and frankly an embarrassment IMO.
  4. Agreed, the proverbial three legged nag in the Derby. At the races but not in the race.
  5. Difference is Wes I support my club through thick and thin and view it as I would a member of family. There are a time for principles and honour and all that good stuff but supporting your football club is not the time and only bumptious, pompous and the intransigent would follow your logic. I suggest it's why you never tire of telling us despite your protestations to the contrary.
  6. Yet another theory, Trousers' trousers must be filling with friendly milk at the propsect of so many delicious conspiracy theories. Careful Trousers all this excitement be careful not to simply blame it on the heat and humidity. I am very pleased to see you finally well rewarded, good the good guys get what they need occassionaly. Today you feast like a king.
  7. BYW, Stevo the fact you told me your handicap kind of supports my theory. You must be very proud, does you wife and family share in your joy?
  8. It is not a sport. Rules me out.
  9. Can't disagree with any of that and that just leaves the unanswered question. Pinnacle back on the scene, idle press speculation or story fed to them by Pinnacle and if so what is their motive?
  10. A few things, masturbation is one although the only benchmark I have is that many on here think I am a 'total w4nk3r' and I have never been one to argue with the experts.
  11. It would if Fry took it seriously who then used Pinnacle's bid to ramp up the price or put pressure on the new consortium that actually didn't exist. Lets face it i will be amazed if the consortium haven't managed some kind of discount on the Pinnacle deal.
  12. I must admit that was my interpretation and made comment to that effect on another thread. You say scupper some may say sabotage or the work of jokers and dreamers and as Gonzo suggested out to try and salvage their reputations before the club itself is saved. Only Pinnacle know and I have long since given up in trying to understand their logic.
  13. I know Wes- my master taught me well. Happy may be the wrong word but certainly not as disappointed as I would be if Pinnacle won the day. One thing I don't think I will ever master though like the ture greats of the self-fulfilling prophecy, is taking it to a level that I would boycott the club, no matter how many times someone tells us they understand our frustration.
  14. No you don't. Most Golfers strive to reduce their handicap and some play off scratch but when it comes down to personality, social skills and business acumen they tend to play off 25+. Its a game for sad loners, husbands with dreadful wives or men who were crap at sport and so thought they would try golf as they could play in their normal trousers and jumpers and look competitive with a pathetic gimme of 30 shots and then find they still lose. The cure for social housing in this country is under our noses and with a ready supply of building sand or playpits.
  15. Interesting theory Gonzo but if you're right then you have to question their motives as they could undermine the current consortium close to completing a deal by creating uncertainty and pressure on their bid. Surely, if Pinnacle thought about this and their declaration is solely to save face as you suggest would they have not been better off waiting until the club's future has been secured with a genuine bid instead of trying to make themselves look good? IMO Pinnacle's actions simply don't stack up as anything other than those of a bunch of amatuers. It's a bit like opening a big night club in the wrong end of town and putting a couple of under-nourished Michael Jackson lookalikes in charge of door security.
  16. Agreed, Pinnacle are seemingly doing more to damage the future of this club than anything that has occured over the past 10 years or more in my opinion. If they have not contacted Fry then why the media storm? IMO it seems to me a case of corporate sabotage or the work of simple dreamers but probably the later as the former would need shrewd heads. Even if Pinnacle were successful my guess is they would pack the board with past failures, inexperienced legends and jokers masquerading as businessman and Dave Jones wondering WTF had hit him. Personally, Fry needs to kill this off before Pinnacle damage this process further by 'outbidding' a more professional consortium and then backing out again or god forbod actually being successful. I for one do not want a season listening to Le Tissier and Lynam explain to the fans how they understand our frustration without the faintest idea of how to put it right except to tell us how busy they allegedly are or going to be in the 24 hours, days, weeks. (months and years I don't think will be necessary in this case) I am at my desk on my knees hands firmly pressed together over the good book 'In That Number' willing Fry to sign the deal with anyone but Pinnacle.
  17. Not sure how big the cupboard is but could we throw in McMenemy, Osman and Crouch and I trust MLT can be salvaged? No room for your gob though Gordon but someone has to be left to entertain the forum.
  18. If Pinnacle did return they would be in danger of having more comebacks than Frank Sinatra and you would have to ask what they would be hiding under their proverbial wig this time. I don't doubt Pinnacle acted with good intentions but they turned the process into a farce entirely of their own making IMO and history has a habit of repeating itself. Rumoured elsewhere on the forum that McMenemy is being lined up to add 'weight' to their bid. I have no idea if this is true but if you add MLT and Crouch back in the mix then what exactly are we wanting? Seems to me that bizarrely the last week has been the most settled for ages and hopefully Wotte and Svennson are starting to make their plans with a little more certainty with some funds in the clubs coffers so all we need is a professional, efficient and visionary board unburdened by the shackles of the past. I know as a fan how frustrated, mistrustful and angry I have become and I don't need anymore fan-friendly rhetoric in the media confirming it. I like many want action and that starts with trust and stability and therefore please bring on the Swiss and lets not entertain those who have dropped out of their own volition. Lets move on and I hope MLT still has a future as a pundit on Sky.
  19. Breakfast in America - Supertramp. Can't bring myself to change it in the car's CD player. Not a bad track on the whole album and brilliant lyrics that seems to fit the hot weather, the recession and generally difficult times. Makes the A303/ M3 seem like the East Coast Highway for a few minutes every day. It must be good because it replaced in my cd player the greatest live album ever recorded and even better digitally remastered to the original running order...UFO - Strangers in the Night. Best live band I have ever seen and saw them twice at the Portsmouth Guildhall in the late seventies.
  20. Exactly, May was being self deprecating in his speech not giving the wages clerk the opportunity to use his personal and original material as an insulting opening gambit.
  21. So you are upset because you believe you paid for May's undivided attention and he treated you with, by the sounds of it, justifiable contempt. He gave you an after dinner speech didn't he or was it in his contract to be paid to socialise with those who expected attention because they had 'paid' for him to provide another service. Tradesmen must dread coming to your house to do a job and then expected to waste valuable time chatting with you as you have paid them. Do you pay for all your social interaction?
  22. Just wanted to say that Jo Brand is the only female comedian who can provide genuine LOL moments. There are no black comedians that I can think of that make me laugh consistently. This is not a racist comment but nearly all the others we have mentioned their humour is quite generic and based on their observations from all aspects of life. It seems to me black comedians base alot of their comedy on their culture and their experiences within it and even the greats like Pryor he had to revert to the stereotypical black man + he swore so much he became unfunny like Billy Connolly. As Nick H pointed out about Lenny Henry he is recruited IMO because he appeals solely to a different cross section of society and if you don't fall in that category its not funny or at least not capable of being funny over a long period of time as those comedians who try to encompass everyone. Don't mean to offend anyone but anyone else have a view. Same applies to most female comedians IMO as I am just not in tune with their subject matter. Talking about over doing the swearing there is one man who could get away with it and is without doubt my favorite comedian sadly departed - Peter Cook. Anyone remember his football manager parody in an interview with Clive Anderson? The Derek and Clive tapes were the most offensive things I have listened to that classed itself as entertainment but it didn't grate like Billy Connolly or Richard Pryor or Roy Chubby Brown who is (sorry NickH) absolutely detestable and about as funny as Stan 'one joke' Boardman.
